My husband's birthday is in November and we usually go away for a couple of days in the UK to celebrate. This year I decided we'd go somewhere different and was delighted to find that Petit Son Arnau could host the two of us plus my sister and brother in law for 3 nights. This was to be our third visit to Son Arnau, but the first for my sister and brother in law.
As usual, the hotel was a delight. Alex and Susan are the best hosts imaginable and made us feel at home. The rooms (as ever) were spotless and welcoming with homemade coconut macaroons and chocolate truffles waiting for us in our rooms (thanks Alex). We were so surprised by the weather (sunny, 20 degrees) compared to that at home (wet, snowy, cold. Had to have the wings de-iced before take off) that we went straight up to the pool area and had a welcoming drink before we even visited our rooms. As ever, the views are breath-taking. We also heard all about the plans to add another 2 rooms to the hotel. Can't wait to try them out.
The weather was fabulous for most of our visit, with t-shirts quite sufficient during he day. Our favourite restaurants (Micelli in Selva and Ca Na Toneta in Caimari) were both open despite being out of the main season and we had fabulous meals at both. We also visited Alcudia, Puerto Pollensa and Pollensa and Santa Maria and it was great not to battle hordes of other tourists.
Breakfasts were up to the usual fab standard with specially sought out pastries to go with the delicious croissants. My sister, an Eggs Benedict connoisseur, proclaimed Alex's version so delicious she had them 3 times. Ditto my husband with the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. At least my brother in law and I tried a couple of different dishes, although we both returned to the Pan Moreno local breakfast.
Overall, a brilliant short break. The weather was kind, which helped, but the main features are the beautiful hotel, fabulous location and amazing hosts. Thanks again, Alex and Susan. We'll see you again. XXMore
