“Small and friendly hotel”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

My husband and I stayed at this hotel recently. We only stayed for two nights, but we would have liked it to be more. The hotel is run by a very friendly couple, Len who is British, and his lovely Mallorcan wife Francesca. The room we stayed was at the top of the hotel, affording it beautiful views from both sides of the room, across the countryside at one side, and looking over the beautiful village church and countryside at the other. The room was very clean and comfortable, furnished in a traditional Mallorcan style. The hotel only has 6 rooms, ours had a very good sized balcony which we enjoyed sitting out on looking over the view. We stayed in room 6. Breakfast was served in the garden, but there is also a small breakfast room for winter months. The breakfast was buffet style, with cheeses, cold meats, yoghurt, breads etc and Francesca's home made plum jam was yummy.
The hotel is in a small village which is not at all commercialised. There are 2 or 3 restaurants in the village including Len and Francesca's, which we ate at one night. The food was very nice, it is a set menu and is good value.
We would definitely stay at this hotel again, and fully recommend it. The only people who should avoid the hotel are those who cannot climb stairs, as the hotel is an old, beautifully converted house, and therefore the rooms are accessed via stairs, and there cannot be a lift.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are nice, but I recommend one with a balcony or terrace in the summer months...

My husband and I recently spent 4 nights at Sa Bisbal. It is a charming individual hotel in a peaceful town which is well situated for visiting much of the island. The hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable with welcome air-conditioning in the bedroom. Breakfast is served in the pretty garden and the pool is the perfect way to cool down after a day of sightseeing in the heat. The owner, Len, was friendly and helpful and we ate several times at his pleasant restaurant. The honesty bar was very reasonably priced and helping ourselves contributed to the 'home-from-home' feel of the hotel. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

Beginning of May me and fiancee stayed in Sa Bisbal 4 nights. We picked this hotel because it's located in a cute small village which is a good starting point for daily trips. "It's a nicely refurbished small hotel with only 6 rooms" - that sounded very promising and the reviews were positive. We got a deal on booking for 110 EUR per night with a breakfast. Unfortunately we got the last free room which didn't match 4 star standards, but more 2/3 stars. It was room no.1 and i would definitely not recommend this room to anyone. Issues with this room are the following:
- small and uncomfortable twin beds (bad quality of mattress)
- room is located above the kitchen so you get smells and noise at dinner time (8-10 PM)
- generally condition of the room is bad, walls have cracks, moisture present on the walls, etc.

Here are the good things about the hotel:
+ helpful and kind staff
+ good free internet connection
+ good quality of breakfast
+ quiet location of hotel

Few tips about restaurants and must see locations:
- road between Lluc and Soller
- Es Moli restaurant in Sant Elm for fresh seafood (village has a nice beach and scenery)
- Can Costa restaurant in Alcudia for traditional Spanish cuisine (Alcudia is a very lovely old town)
- Port de Alcudia (nice resort)
- Port de Pollenca (walks on sandy beach)
- Valldemossa (have an ice cream on the square in front of the cathedral)

My review is based on room 1 experience, we didn't see the other rooms but i believe they are in a much better condition. Just avoid room no.1 and i think you should be fine with this hotel.

Enjoy Majorca.

Room Tip: Avoid room no. 1!

We hired Sa Bisbal for a week in July and it was amazing, we had all 6 rooms for a holiday and at the end of the week hosted the evening part of our Wedding in the garden. Its beautiful inside and out, the rooms are big and have stunning views and beautiful decor, the garden is walled and very private with a nice outdoor kitchen and pool area. Selva is a lovely town, really authentic Mallorca and only a short drive to Palma. I don't have a bad word to say about the whole place and will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone.

We had the whole hotel for one month and in 99% of our requirements it was perfect. The rooms were large, each with air-con, and comfortably furnished. The living areas were very spacious and cool in the Spanish summer. The pool, although not huge, was large enough for our family with five small children, and the whole outside area very private and not overlooked at all. The negatives would be the ammount of stairs but by the end of the first week even they became a breeze, and a good way to exercise during our holiday! The only other thing I would say is that a few more towels would have been good, but on saying that I did not ask the owner whom I am sure would have obliged, she was very helpful.
The village is not a tourist one with little English spoken but all the locals made us very welcome. Great little resteraunts close by, easy walking
Would I return there, a big yes. (As a foot note; there were no flies so eating outside a joy)

Small, friendly hotel with only six rooms situated inland next to the church in the small village of Selva, away from the tourist crowds but convenient for exploring the north and west of the island. Comfortable rooms of good size in an old, 17th century restored village manor house with lots of character. It had a lovely patio and garden with small pool ideal for relaxing. There is a kitchen next to the patio with an honesty bar system where you can help yourselves to drinks etc. We had the hotel to ourselves during our few days there. The village is situated on the top of a hill with views all around. The hotel itself does not have a restaurant, only a small breakfast room in the cellar, but there is a restaurant right next door (The Es Parc) with a large terrace, again with great views. There is another good restaurant (Can Simo) down on the main road at the bottom of the hill before turning up towards Selva.
All in all, a great place to get away to and relax in a real Mallorcan village.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Sa Bisbal occupies a building of significant architectural interest. It was constructed in the XVII century, being located in the most privileged place of Selva, at the top of the town next to the gothic church of Sant Llorenç which itself dates from the year 1301. For a long time the building was the residence of noble families of Majorca. The actual owner has restored all the building giving back all its character and original splendour. Some of the more remarkable architectural elements include the portal fora constructed with perfectly fitted stone blocks and the original cub de vi, which was used for the fermentation of the grape in producing wines. In the cellar excavated in the rock, the wine was stored in barrels. The stone stairs are one of the oldest and most valuable architecturally enchanting elements of the house. In keeping with the Majorcan gothic style, Sa Bisbal retains in its large windows the conopial carved stone arcs. In the patio is the aljub, a characteristic element of the Mediterranean culture, which still today collects rainwater. Sa Bisbal has six rooms and each is unique in both its design and decoration. They have all the amenities - bathroom, air conditioning and heating, TV, and have varying views of the Serra de Tramuntana, the north coast of the island and the neighbouring villages. Room 1 is a twin bedded room and is accessed from the garden and terrace. Room 2 (junior suite) is more spacious and has two balconies on the facade. Its decor is elegant. The views from this room are spectacular covering the entire north coast of the island and the sea, and up to 4 villages. This room has a double bed. Room 3 (junior suite) is also very spacious, with a double bed and has its own terrace overlooking the garden, the neighbouring church and the Serra de Tramuntana. Room 4, with its wood beamed ceiling looks over the garden. It has twin beds. Room 5 is a little smaller, but very cosy, with a double bed and enjoys wonderful views. Room 6 (junior suite) has a double bed and is on the top floor of the house. A feature is its wooden mansard roof and large windows with views to the Serra de Tramuntana and the bell tower of the Church. It has its own terrace. A buffet breafast is served between 8am and 10am in our restaurant, Es Portal de Tramuntana, which is in the main square, just 50 metres or so from the hotel. ... more   less
