“Excellent Hotel, staff and facilities but remote”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

Just spent a week staying at this rural hotel, on the edge of the Serra Tramuntana. It is very much in the countryside about 2-3 miles from the (small) town of Campanet. The nearest towns of substance are Inca, about 20 mins by car or Sa Pobla, 10 minutes away. The room was lovely and the staff friendly. The restaurant serves food of an excellent standard and there is a decent swimming pool, though too short for serious swimmers. The property is set in a large estate with olive, carob and fig trees in fields grazed by sheep. There are walks of interest. There are also mountain bike hire and horse riding facilities. Nearby there is a public nature walk, taking in some ancient remains (which was nice) and the Campanet Caves which we didn't visit. The interesting old towns of Pollensa and Alcudia are 20 minutes away, with beaches etc just a little further. They have a well equipped spa but we didn't use the facilities.

Hotel Monnaber Nou is located in very beautiful quiet surroundings. We stayed in a room in the main building for one week. To our big surprise the hotel had arranged an outdoor café with tables outside the windows in front of all the rooms. People were sitting at the tables talking and laughing until 2—3 in the night, all nights. It was therefore impossible to have the windows open. The alternative was the air conditioning, it was however, a very old system which was very noisy. So if you want to stay at this hotel you shall not be sensitive to noise, and remember good ear plugs. I have stayed in several hotels at Mallorca and it is a general problem with swimming pools and cafes outside the rooms, I will not say that this hotel is worse than many others but certainly not better.

The toilet did not flush properly and it was necessary to use the garbage bin with water!! There was a very low water pressure, so it was necessary to stay very long time to wash out shampoo. There is a free internet, but it is extremely slow and some days it did not work at all. It did not work in front of the reception either. One positive thing about the hotel is the breakfast, which is close to be perfect.

To rank this hotel as 3 star hotel, is wrong. Choose the many cheaper alternatives at Mallorca, the high price for this hotel is waste of money. It is strange because the building and surroundings are very beautiful and fantastic, and with a few investments and changes this could be a perfect hotel, but as it is now I will not recommend it.

A beautiful place inside, basically remodeled to older style Mallorcan, with great grounds and 800 year old Olive trees around it. Out in the countryside, away form the cities and peaceful. Also the dining was nice. You can access all areas of Mallorca quite easily from it with a rental car.

Room Tip: All rooms are great but maybe away from the restaurant area might be more suitable

My wife & I have just returned after a lovely week at this hotel. We booked through expedia & upgraded the room (to try and avoid being in the annexe) and ended up with a suite - nice!
The hotel itself is absolutely stunning, set in a wonderfully tranquil spot, Monnaber is ideal if you are looking for a peaceful getaway.
The food in the restaurant is excellent, and reasonably priced overall. If you want to spend a little less then the BBQ at the annexe is nice for a change.

A car is an absolute must, unless you are happy to stay put for the entire week. We visited a few beaches, Sa Calobra most notably as the drive is unforgettable.

If I had to make a criticism (and I think it has been noted by others) the lack of any specific service on the front terrace is a bit slow, meaning if you want a drink you have to go and ask. Didn't really bother me, but it might others.

Overall a wonderful break in a smashing hotel on a quite beautiful island.

Room Tip: Certainly ask to be in the main building rather than the annexe if it's possible. Rooms 101-106...

We visited for dinner on our last night of the holiday Monnaber Nou is a favourite haunt of hours having stayed there and eaten there on previous trips.

Once again it did not disappoint the airy terrace restaurant with spectacular views to the coast is an ideal setting for a special meal.

The service was attentive and freindly and the food was super I had the mango and liver starter very unusual but tasty my wife had the grilled vegetables for mains I had suckling pig and my wife had squid cooked with artichokes and grilled orange she really enjoyed it.

The timeless elegance of the finca is exceptional and as an alternative to the coastal restaurants this hotel is well worth a visit for a meal.

We will be back

We visited for dinner. The dining room is a large covered terrace with views down the valley to Campernet. We approached from Polenca which involved much driving through the pretty countryside. The approach from Palma and the MA 13 would be much easier.

Service was welcoming and the menu was very different from most of the restaurants on the coast. Starters included several vegetable soups and a delicious dish of calves liver and mango. Lamb and suckling pig were both specialities and both from the hotel's farm. Desserts were also exotic including a trio of lemon desserts and rum babar!

If you want to get away from the coast and experience a rural hotel withgood food and a view of citrus groves geese and other livestock from the terrace this is the place for you!

Nestled in the Traumantana Mountains, this rural rustic hotel offers peace and tranquility, but a healthy dose of family based authenticity. It is really quite rare these days to have such a genuinely smiling man on reception, who remembers small details and facts that make you feel unique. The baby lamb chops for dinner on the half board a la carte menu, make you feel you could be in the top restaurants of the world. Although seeing them skipping around is either a good thing or a bad thing depending on the sort of person you are. The honey, the natural herb and the olives permeate all aspects of this little jem, in terms of smells, and food, but the olive oil massage blew my mind. Brutal in places, relaxing in others. 77 Euros....not to be missed. I slept 2 hours afterwards, and felt rejuvenated, considering that i suffer from a bad back, this really helped. It is a family place, there are kids running around having fun, but that is life, and we enjoyed that, even though we were a couple on an anniversary. Furthermore, it is really reasonable and priced well, so that you feel the money you pay is worth every penny. And boy do the staff work hard!
