We had booked to stay at the Beach club 3 star, but were moved to Playa parc (owned by the same group) before we left the Auk although it was 1 star less the service and cleanliness was second to none, all of our requests were met (sea view and upstairs apartments next door to each other).
The resort is surrounded by pine forests and within walking distances of many nature reserves and historic sites. Golf seems to be a big attraction in Son Parc.
The other guests were mainly German and Spanish and were friendly and curious.
We stayed at the end of season but this was not reflected in the staffs attitude and service, they still gave it their all, they were extremely helpful cheerful and friendly (especially the young Romanian couple in the bar and dining room). The manageress helped in the dining rooms and chatted with guests making an effort to chat to us to make sure all was ok with our apartments
Food was good
Breakfast had freshly cooked while you wait bacon ,eggs and omelettes. Also hams cheeses and usual continental choices
Dinner had choice of fish meat or vegetarian, something for everyone
Fresh beds and towels every other day, and apartment mopped.
Apartment had 2 bedrooms with good storage, 1 double room (2 singles together) and 1 single bedroom with a put up bed underneath the real bed, kitchen well equipped kettle toaster, microwave, hob and large fridge with a good sized freezer. Bathroom all u would expect loo, sink, short bath + shower and a bidet. Living room ok size, dining area table 4 chairs. Balcony was large with 2 sun beds, patio table + 4 chairs + washing airier
There are 4 pools, all clean and safe the resort is very child friendly, not an arcade game in sight in any of the places we went.
The beach is gorgeous (first aid hut +patrolled by a life guard) about a 5 min walk from the hotel, though there are quite a few steps to get down to it, it is well worth it very clean (like all areas of the resort we saw) the sea slopes very gently and about 100 meters from the beach you would only be waist deep. on a clam day there may be 1 or 2 jelly fish in the deeper parts along with the fish.
There are 3 English pubs we saw all very welcoming, BJs seems to be a local for the English ex-pats who live in son parc and has themed nites we were there for Halloween party!!
The local bus service is very good and cheep E2.35 to the capital Mao about 30 mins
E1.65 to Fornells great for water sports and diving lovely scenery very Spanish
Car hire at hotel was E88 for 2 days in a 3 door corsa or E116 for 3 days
Taxi from airport to hotel was E40 (metered) for 4 adults
All in all a ideal place for a quiet relaxing holiday
PS didn’t see any mosquitoes but quite a few ants!!
