“Incredible vacation”
Reviewed 31 March 2009

I should say that it the best hotel on Talamanca beach in Ibiza.
I was staying there with my friend for 1 week. We came to Ibiza for nightlife, pleasure, sun, beach and great fun and we received all these desires.
The service in the hotel wasn't annoying and quite good.
The room was cozy, but quite simple.
What was the best is location of Argos Hotel. It is situated on the opposite side of Ibiza town and the best way to get right in the centre of Ibiza town is by the boat which is not far from the hotel.
What we liked most is that comparing to loud town the hotel is very quiet place.
The hotel is right on the beach, which was very nice place to have rest in the first part of a day. On the beach there are some good restaurantswith good prices, not so expensive as in the town. There are not so many hotels in south part of Ibiza which are situated on the beach that's why the location of Argos is very good.
I can advice this hotel to anybody who want's to have great vacation, and especially who is coming for the nightlife on Ibiza.

This hotel was a disappointment right from the start!
We had booked a room with a double bed and were given two single beds that you could not even put together! When we queried them on this they said that's all they had and if we wanted to stay there we would have to deal with it! RUDE! The room was not 4 star!!!! It was more like a 1 1/2 - 2 star hotel. The only thing that was 4 star about this hotel was the view! The walls were paper thin and every night you could hear the people in the room next door to us going for it and playing their music really loud till all hours of the night, which is fine except the walls are so thin it sounds as though they are in the same room as you! The breakfast was not very fresh, except they had a good fresh OJ juice machine, although it did break down and fall apart a few times when the oranges were too big for the machine. We found the reception to be very rude and tried to charge us for taxi's when we checked out saying that we did not get in the right taxi that they ordered for us and therefore we had to pay for the driver! A load of crap, such a scam! We always got the booking number or number plate of the taxi they had ordered for us and got in that one. I would not stay here again, in fact my advice would be to stay at a hotel closer to Ibiza Town.

  • Liked — The view and the OJ machine
  • Disliked — The room and the hotel staff!

My husband and I stayed here in September 08 and found it a very pleasant and comfortable place to stay. We found the staff to be helpful if required and the hotel was kept clean. To be fair the decor is a little dated but we do not go on holiday for the decor! The cleaning staff kept to the 'do not disturb' policy and rooms were cleaned daily at a time convenient to the guests. There is a local spar shop across the road for stocking the mini bar with water etc and the hotel breakfasts were fine. It is in an ideal spot for Ibiza town, Pacha and Cafe Sidney on Marina Botofoc. All this on your doorstep without having to pay Marina Botofoc/Ibiza town prices. It is only a short boat ride into Ibiza town and a short stroll to Cafe Sidney. The hotel has a lovely spot on Talamanca beach. So if you want a clean beach side hotel close to Ibiza town then you can't go wrong here. It always surprises us to read of reviews where the staff are noted as unhelpful/rude we have been to Ibiza for the last 5 years now and have never encountered any problem in this area. We have always acted in a respectful way to them and this has been reciprocated.

The hotel is in an ideal setting - right on the beach with a lovely view and a good pool (especially inside). Both the indoor and outdoor hot tubs were freezing and should probably be called cold tubs. The biggest dissapointment has to be the staff. They were some of the rudest people I have ever met. One member of staff snatched a towel from the hotel room from a guest (who was lying on the towel at the time!) without even commenting on why he was doing it. I think that would be the normal approach to use first!
The hotel manager lied to my friend, asking for extra money which had already been settled. In addition, I had a phone call 5 minutes before we were meant to check out and again 3 minutes after the first call, informing me that if I was not out of the room in 2 minutes I would be charged for a whole extra night. I found this insane when there were plenty of other rooms to clean that were empty. They never smile and everything looked like such a effort. I'd be surpised if the management stays! Luckily, I shared this opinion with other guests and the positive side was that we ended up having a good laugh about their manners!

Hotel Argos doesnt pretend to be anything it isn’t, my only critism is that it states it is a 4 star - when it is a 3.

A short and easy taxi ride from Aeroporto at only 20 euros brings you to the beachfront setting of Hotel Argos (Argooose if you want to get there quicker!). Check in was quick and easy even at 1.30am and our room in darkness seemed good, spotlessly clean, well arranged and stocked with a mini-bar (important at 1.30am in Talamanca).

After waking for breakfast between 8-10.30am and opening the blackout curtains our room’s view was revealed, the local Spar convenience store, not so great I have to say. Our reasons for choosing this hotel weren't revolving around us spending much time on our balcony - so not the end of the world. The rooms with seaviews were graced with the bay panorama and it would have been nice - but like I said not a problem.

Breakfast was the normal cornucopia of a multi euro national client base, whilst it was a bit odd there was something for everyone and a huge selection, fresh fruit to scrambled eggs and fresh OJ to fried spring rolls! Still was a good selection and left us feeling nourished set up for the day.

The facilities at the hotel are good, there is a pool with plentiful bed and soft mattress covers, very comfy. Pool with a deep deep-end and shallow shallow-end, great. Baby pool, empty – fantastic! And a hot tub spa which was nice it not a tad too flourinated! The bar backs on to the pool area which is a nice area with a huge TV – which was good for euro 2008. Pool table and lots of stylish sofas and sitting areas. A very small indoor pool and gym, empty again and another indoor hot tub with what must’ve been the absolute just legal limit of chlorine! There is a seating area which looks over the bay and smoking is allowed pretty much anywhere – this is good for some and bad for others, I couldn’t care less. Another great feature is a public shower change and store suite for those of you who vacate at lunch and fly at midnight.

Hotel Argos is at the Ibiza end of Talamanca bay and an easy stroll or 5 euro taxi ride to the reason we choose this hotel - Ibiza town. The marina en route provided some excellent restaurants, the nearest to us was Cafe Sydney - lovely varied menu. The rustic stuff being far better than the half arsed attempts at dishes like Thai. A great place to watch the wealth of Ibiza trickle past in their over the shoulder pastel sweaters and prada loafers. Also it is damn good value, a lunchtime meal, water and wine just 35 euros. There are some higher priced stops along the way should you want too and a small selection of boutique style shops.

Talamanca itself is a quiet base with not a big amount of places to tempt you at night. There is a small number of beachfront bars and restaurants a couple with evening euro-tainment too. If that’s what you want then it is great – food, wine, company and relaxation.

The beach itself is really quite appealing a long beach with different sections with usual beds and brollies if you want them. A high local attendance was a good sign and on a windy day the kite surfers provided a show for all to see. The sea gently shelves down and was quite warm for mid June. Overall impressed.
