We had a great stay at Simbad Hotel, whilst the rooms are pretty basic, the bathroom is roomy with a great shower, and it was lovely having a balcony with a sea view. Best thing was relaxing on the Balcony in the evening with a cold beer (the rooms had fridges which was a bonus, plus there was a shop conveniently 1 minute from the hotel which had a great selection of drinks).

We were very impressed with the breakfast each morning, great selection and they also had an area where they cooked fresh eggs, fried or as an omelette and cheese and ham toasties. Great after a night clubbing! We made the decision to go half-board (even knowing we would miss out on the dinner the first night as we did not arrive until after midnight) and it was a very good decision. The amount of different fresh food you could select from was brilliant, especially the salads, and they always had 3 different types of meat they would cook fresh for you. The restaurant staff were great and sitting outside with the sea view in the evening you completely forgot you were having a meal at your hotel. I recommend the champagne sangria before a night out – eating the alcohol soaked fruit was the best bit!

I do agree with the previous review that the location was quite far from Ibiza town, however for us this was a good thing as we wanted to have time to relax. To be honest the walk from the hotel to the ferry which takes you to Ibiza town is really nice as it is along a wooden path on the beachfront. If you walk the opposite direction, you come to a restaurant with the most relaxing rooftop bar, great cocktails and views. It was a great way to end the evening after a meal at the hotel. There is also an outside fish restaurant on the corner of the bay which serves up fresh fish caught that day, not the cheapest but you are sitting right out on the seafront.

Overall we had a great stay, loved the location and would return without hesitation.

This hotel is located a little out the way for Ibiza Town, as you have to walk down the beach for 20 mins and then take a boat into town (2.5 euro). Therefore, it lacks the choice of restaurants and entertainment locally. However, the hotel itself is quite good, especially the buffet dinner they do for half boarders. Here's my the good, the bad and the ugly about this hotel:

The Good:
1) The buffet dinner has a tremendous amount of variety every day.
2) The SPA is good, there's a basic gym with sauna, Jacuzzi and some water features. This is good after a day of swimming/sunbathing.
3) The swimming pool is good sized and it next to the beach, so you can go swimming in the beach without leaving the hotel premises.
4) 20 minutes from the airport and costs 20 Euros. So no need for expensive transfers offered by the holiday company.
5) There's a supermarket right next to the hotel, for all your essential needs.
6) The hotel staff is general are nice and helpful. Most speak English ok.
7) Pacha nightclub is 30 mins walk along the beach.

The Bad:
1) Location is not great. Takes 50 mins to get into Ibiza town, either by walking or taking the boat for part of the journey.
2) The restaurants on the beach around the hotel are limited and rather pricey.
3) The gym is rather poor, with only 3 working machines.
4) The breakfast is not great. Not worth staying up a couple of extra hours for, if you’ve been dancing the night away.

The Ugly:
1) Lots of nude sunbathing at the hotel swimming pool and beach nearby. Even the larger women.

Ibiza Town itself is smart, especially compared to Playa D'en Bossa and San Antonio. Plenty of great restaurant options here. You also have fast food, such as Macdonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut and KFC. The place comes alive around midnight with the bars filling up instantaneously and club promoters parading up and down the bar area with banners for the big club nights. You are 10mins (by taxi) to all the big clubs (Amnesia, Privilege, Pacha etc) from Ibiza Town. Playa D'en Bossa is 15 mins drive away, which has Space and Sankeys nightclub along with the infamous Bora Bora beach parties. The Bora Bora beach parties are free and go on all night long.

Ideally, I would have preferred to stay a little closer to Ibiza Town. But generally, I liked the hotel and would recommend it to anyone, who doesn't want to be too near the hustle and bustle of Ibiza Town.

During our Honeymoon trip my husband and I stayed at Simbad. Our trip advisor suggested this hotel and we were quite content with our choice. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. I do not want to nag here but there were things that was not convinient to us. For example, the location of the hotel was a bit far away from where the hotspots are. Though the hotel cooperates with bike rentals who come and pick you up, provide you with a motor bike and when you deliver it, take you back to the hotel. The only place where it is near to is Pacha club. In any way, this is our personal opinion and it has nothing to do with the hotel quality. The room did not have a mini bar, just an empty tiny fridge and in order to get internet access you either had to ask for a wire and the code, or go downstairs and use wifi (with a code) in both cases the connection was very slow. Overall we liked the hotel and the staff was very cooperative.

Room Tip: Sea view costs extra, but it is perfect!

Great food, great atmosphere and great accommodation, there was some great staff.

At breakfast there was a large selection of cereals and cooked breakfast with omelettes cooked to order.

A good view from our room, a sea view is a must, great views of ibiza town and you can even see Dalt Vila.

All in all a great hotel that I would recommend.

Upon arrival at 01.30 we were greeted by the night porter. We had booked & pre paid for a room for 3 adults. We were informed that they didn't have a room with 3 beds. We were told that we could have 2 rooms for one night and then move to a room with 3 beds the following day, we had no option but to accept this. In the morning when we went down to reception the northern lady at the desk had clearly been briefed of the problem. She made no attempt to apologise and was very hostile towards us then and for the rest of our stay. Even though we had paid for a room for 3 it was clearly a twin room with another bed put in. The room was small for 3 adults, we were informed that this was standard practice and that all rooms for 3 were like this. We have stayed in many other hotels as a 3 and never had this problem before. If you pay for 3 people you should get a room suitable for 3 people. Would also add that apart from one member of staff the rest were generally very unfriendly.

I went to Ibiza to attend a friend's wedding and was traveling solo as my husband couldn't get any time off work. I wanted a place that was on the beach, preferably also had a pool, relatively quiet/ away from the clubbers but was still relatively central and was clean and pleasant. Hotel Simbad ticked all the boxes for that.
I probably wouldn't rate the hotel as a definite 4 star, but nearly there. The public areas i.e. reception, dining room, bar, outside terrace look updated and modern..... so good first impression when checking in. I arrived very late/early morning and checked-in straight away - mind you, I had arranged this with the hotel before hand so that I wasn't waiting around for hours until my room was ready. I saw a couple who were checking in the next day at 11:00am and had to wait a few hours until their room was ready (quite typical for most hotels).
The room was a little disappointing and could have done with updating. It was certainly clean and comfortable, but quite basic and not particularly pretty to look at.... but did the job.
The pool area could certainly use sprucing up, again quite bare - just the pool, some sun beds and umbrellas. There are no tables, chairs or anything to liven the place up e.g. plants etc. I found the sunbeds uncomfortable and were in a fixed position - they would benefit from having cushions on them. BUT overall, the pool was pleasant and next to the beach should you prefer to be in the sea.
The breakfast buffet was great - lots of choice and variety, really enjoyed that. I only had dinner at the hotel once as I was busy with wedding stuff, and the selection was also varied with buffet style food and a chef that makes a fresh "dish of the day".
The staff overall were friendly and pleasant and did try to help. For English speakers, its not bad and there are a couple of Brits who work on reception - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. In general friendly, but a few more smiles would have been nice.
Talamanca as an area was good, you could see Dalt Villa/ Old Town fort from the hotel - the view was really lovely and worth paying extra for a sea view room. A walk round the by and you are at the marina with a few restaurants and a boat taxi to Old Town. There is also a supermarket up the road where you can stock up on water and snacks. The hotel is no more than 15/20 mins away from most places on the island and the taxis are convenient and comfortable to use. The ride from the airport to the hotel is about 15 mins and costs around 20 euros.
Overall I had a pleasant experience at the hotel and enjoyed my stay. It ticked all the boxes for my purposes.

I stayed at the Simbad for a week with my partner. We stayed in Talamanca last year at a different hotel and like the resort so much that we stayed there again this year.

This hotel has had a good re-furb so its reception area, bars, and restaurant all look pretty swish. The rooms are not quite as generous as the Argos hotel further down the beach but they are of an ok standard. I'd read some of the other reviews for this hotel and was a bit put off by reports of 70's decor but its pretty standard stuff for Spain really certainly not out of the 70's. Our room was on the front of the hotel and there was building work going on fairly close by during our stay which wasn't great so it might be worth paying the extra for the view accross the bay (which is lovely...)

The walls are thin so if you have noisy neighbours you will hear them! Also the air con chugs away all night, even with ours turned off it still affected my sleep somewhat. One downside of this hotel is no stocked mini-bar which is a bit of a niggle. There is a fridge in the room though and a nearby supermarket so thats easy enough to rectify.

The finish could have been better in our bathroom, things like half done sealant around the top of the bath and some marks on the tiles around the mirror, it is 4 star so I kind of expected a bit better, but nothing major so perhaps thats just picky. The hotel was pretty much spotless and a small army of maids kept things really clean and tidy, and they were all very nice too. The rest of the staff for the most part are polite and helpful and we didn't have any experiences with rude receptionists, in fact they were helpful with all of our requests.

We stayed B&B, and the breakfast was good. Plenty variety, nice coffee and lots of fresh juices, fruit etc as well as cooked stuff on the hot-plate.

As another reviewer has said the pool is used by local kids at the weekend so it gets busy. The pool area is nice, its great being able to see the bay and the little boats while you're floating in the pool.

Talamanca does have a bit of a problem with smelly sea-weed at times. Workmen were clearing a lot of the beach while we were there. Its not that bad just sometimes the odd waft. All in all there were really no bad points with the hotel or staff, but we both felt there was something missing and preferred the hotel we stayed at last year, which is at the other end of the beach and closer to the harbour and the regular & quick ferry connection to Ibiza town. We found this hotel not as relaxed which I think had something to do with it. I would definitely go back to Talamanca, its a nice resort & not over-developed like some of the beaches on the other side of Ibiza town, but probably not to Simbad. Just because although some things about this hotel are good, overall its a bit average and I think there are better hotels in the area for the same kind of budget.
