“Comfortable and friendly pub”

We enjoyed our one night stay here. Our room was quiet and comfortable but on the small side, as was the shower room. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order. Evening meal was tasty (lamb tagine can be recommended) but food availability slots were limited and may not suit everyone. Some rooms are having bathrooms revamped, so check availability directly with the pub rather than booking site on line for latest details. Parking available right outside. We would certainly go back to this hotel.

We visited for one night on a cycle tour. Thomas was very welcoming and there was a secure storeroom for our bikes. We had a delicious evening meal cooked by Thomas. There was an excellent menu choice at breakfast too and very generous portions. Rooms were modestly priced and very clean. Would definitely recommend.

The restaurant at this hotel was recommended by our B & B owner. She told us that she liked Tom’s cooking (Tom being the chef). And she was very right. This is a friendly pub/restaurant in the village of Newcastleton. We ate there for 2 nights running and the food was delicious on both occasions. Home made soup to start, followed by beef lasagne with salad, chips and garlic bread - all very tasty.
I ventured to try a pudding on my 2nd visit - sticky chocolate and orange cake with ice cream - absolutely delicious!
And the service was good, and very friendly.

The chef spoke to us in person and modified my friends meal to suit his diet.
I was lucky enough to enjoy a fantastic beef burger made in house.
