We had dinner at the Grapes whilst staying at Sorbietrees B and B just up the road. The food was simple and fine - excellent fish and chips, ok goats cheese tart, but the service was so slow. To be fair, even the chef came out to apologise for the speed or lack of it and the server did her best. The whole experience taught me to slow down, very slow, and chill out, which is probably what a holiday is supposed to do, and probably what everyone does in this part of the world.

We booked a double room here for Easter Sunday. We received a very warm welcome at the bar and we were shown to our room. We arrived around 2 o'clock and the place seemed very lively and had a great atmosphere from the start. Our room was still being cleaned when we arrived but it wasn't a problem as we were able to get in to our room and leave our bags before heading out for some local walking. The staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful and let us know about meal times in the hotel. We took off for a small drive then a walk by the river which was beautiful and gorgeously clean. The scenery is stunning. When we returned to eat in the evening we found the hotel again to be busy and with a warm and fun atmosphere. Although it was busy, we found a table in the restaurant and we were told that there would be a bit of a wait for food but we were very happy to sit in the restaurant and have a drink. The menu was lovely and very varied along with all the usual fare such as fish n chips and steaks. My friend ordered the sea food platter and when it came, without too much of a waiting time, it was fresh and delicious looking and really well presented. However, I ordered the Haggis Stuffed Chicken Breast and although the stuffing was very good the chicken was extremely dry and I had to leave quite a lot of it. But this was the only disappointing part of the entire stay and I will definitely be going back to the Grapes.

This was one of many visits we have made so far this year and we keep coming back. We stay on Lidalia caravan park and our return trips to this area are mainly due to the hospitality of Peter and Gail, Brilliant value for money superb food and a warm welcome for the dog too. I find it hard to comprehend the opinion of Elizabeth E as we have been very impressed on every occasion and would not hesitate in telling all our friends and do, in fact we entertained 2 there this weekend one of which was in the catering business herself for many years, and was equally impressed. Well done Peter and Gail we will see you again soon, so impressed thinking about spending Christmas there too.

I visited the Grapes Hotel for Sunday Lunch 3 times and twice for evening meals. Each time the food has been good. I dined in both the Vine Restaurant and the bar with friends, family or as a couple and enjoyed each occasion.

Visited at weekend for a meal. The customer service was very good but the food was exceptionally disappointing and certainly did not represent value for money. The seafood platter was seriously adrift. The hotel food used to be very good but on this occasion it was certainly not - disappointing indeed.

We've now stayed here twice with a group of friend's to play music. The people are friendly and make you feel welcome.
Our room was nice, had hot drink making facilities and the bed was comfortable.
All the meals we had were very nice and the service was always with a smile.
Thank you so much for a very pleasant stay and every member of our group was looking forward to staying again.
