“a gem in the Scottish Borders”
Reviewed 24 September 2012 for a stay in September 2012

What a fabulous house. We wanted for nothing. You have thought of everything including the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. The decor throughout is superb and complimented by an array of antiques. As for the village itself, everyone is so friendly from Dave in the Newsagents to Annie in The Trap. The surrounding landscapes were magnificent with rolling hills interspersed by rivers and streams. We will take many happy memories back to Dublin and will certainly recommend Dalkeith House to our friends. Cannot wait to come again.

Hi Neil & Co Thank you for your kind words, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and left feeling well rested! Its great to know that the 'marshmallow beds' did their trick. The village is unique and very welcoming, we will pass on your feedback to Annie and Dave. We hope to see you all again. B

“Perfect Place for a Family Get Together”
Reviewed 27 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

Dalkeith House was the perfect place for 3 generations of our family to get together. The house is wonderful, kitted out to the highest degree and has a great balance of formal/informal rooms. A beautiful house that comfortably holds 10 (all the rooms are very spacious)

Newcastleton is an incredibly friendly village and with 7 Stanes Mountain Biking, Kielder Forest, Rock UK Adventure Centre and the golf course nearby there is a lot to do.

“A jewel in the Borders and beyond!”
Reviewed 3 July 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our 2nd stay at Dalkeith House and, once again, We felt like Kings & Queens staying in such beautiful, lavish surroundings! Nothing at all to fault, only high praise for such a wonderful, homely creation by the Elborn’s, who couldn’t have done more to welcome us and make our stay another very memorable occasion!!  The beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept in with thick goose down mattress toppers, duvets and pillows. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean and well furnished. The bathrooms are beautiful with high quality towels etc. Everything about this place oozes quality and class yet, despite the lavishness of it, somehow manages to retain an easy, comfortable and very relaxed homely feel. We will definitely be returning soon.
Dalkeith House – the jewel of the Scottish Borders and beyond!

“Wonderful”
Reviewed 17 April 2012 for a stay in April 2012

As recommended by my daughter who had stayed before in Dalkeith House as the venue to meet some of my daughter's fiance's family. Everything you could have thought of was in the house, The Garden was lovely to be able to sit and relax with wonderful views. Every room was a sheer delight to be in. All ages catered for from the 3D TV and games console with wide choose of DVDs and games, plus wonderful lounge with open fire and extensive library of books to pick from. Need a reason to go back and spend a lot longer their. The quality of everything was just 5star luxury from exquisite bedding and fully equipped kitchen could not fault it.

“Luxury in the Scottish Borders”
Reviewed 15 April 2012 for a stay in April 2012

“After being let down on arrival in Fife by a property that was double-booked a ½ day panic resulted in finding this property on Sunday morning. Barbara’s sympathetic ear and the promise of lemon drizzle cake was very welcome and didn't let us down (neither did the two bottles of champagne in the fridge either!)

We were made welcome on arrival, although a tad nervous about our 4 kids in case they caused damage, but we soon settled in. Very impressed by the level of detail, the comfortable quiet room by the fire, the hi-tech entertainment room, the lovely bathrooms and bedrooms, the stylish kitchen, the practical breakfast room and the dining room. Adults and kids loved the ability to be together but separate! And the drizzle cake was VERY nice. Loved the Sonos music system (next on our shopping list) the wireless internet, the PS3 and the Xbox. Fascinated by 3D TV - not good on the eyes, but loved the 50inch HDTV screen.

Newcastleton village is very nice, Rock UK is superb day out – try the 300m zip wire – and the scenic golf course is well scenic….Plenty to do nearby too, Walby Farm near Longtown is a good day out for all the family. All in all, we had a great holiday and would say that this house is set up very professionally but is really homely and handy too!

Thank you (Party of 8 from Ellon, Aberdeenshire - 4 adults, 4 kids)

“Marvellous house, lovely village of friendly people, great memories”
Reviewed 15 May 2011 for a stay in April 2011

Our party was a large group of family, 5 couples. We needed a venue to celebrate a special occasion and Dalkeith House turned out to be just perfect. It had everything we could possibly need to create an event we will long remember in a venue that charmed and delighted. My favourite room was the Drawing Room with its cosy atmosphere and open fire. We slept in the Peach Bedroom with its truly sumptuous, comfortable beds. The weather was fantastic and we enjoyed walks in the forest; explored the village and feasted on some traditional pub food. A nine hole golf course and the 7stanes mountain bike trails are nearby - we didn't manage to try these but some of the party with us did. We all loved the house and its location and regret not booking the extra time to extend the weekend. We will definitely be back. No dislikes.
