“A great stay!”
Reviewed 28 June 2013

We could not have done better. We stayed here for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. This B&B is convenient to Galway yet located enough out of town to be quiet and peaceful. Joan was a wonderful host. Her recommendations for where to eat (Donnaly's) and things to see and do certainly made our stay memorable. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone staying in the Galway/Barna area.

Enjoyable, very comfortable and clean B&B with a great view. Our host Joan was very accomodating, even making yummy Irish pancakes on request. Our bedroom was spacious and my husband especially appreciated the great reading lighting. In addition the room contained numerous electrical outlets for recharging multiple devices. Location a plus for great pubs within walking distance along with exploring Galway and Aran Islands departure from Rosseville.

Room Tip: Room #6 had a great view of the ocean and parts of town.

Our recent short visit to Barna was made remarkable by the fortunate discovery of Freeport House Bed & Breakfast. After many years of trudging into the next lonely hotel room, my faith in humanity was restored by this little weekend break. Our host and owner, Joan, has a wonderful skill in looking after guests of the B&B. She is a tonic - never in your face, easily accessible and wonderful to get to know through easy conversation. Our room was spick and span, comfortable and well-lit, with crisp bedsheets and with impeccable fluffy white towels in our en suite. Our breakfast was lovely, with a hearty Irish well received by both of us. And although set beside the main Barna Road, with easy access into Galway, there wasn't a sound to be heard from the traffic thanks to very effective double glazing. Dinner in nearby O' Grady's on the Pier was a short walk away and a roll home! Fantastic! We would have no hesitation in recommending a stay in Freeport House, and look forward to a trip back there again!

Charming B & B on the main road with lovely views over the bay. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with recommending the seafood restaurant within a short walk. Within walking distant to cafes, pubs and local shopping village. Plenty of off street parking. Would stay there again.

Our host Joan was lovely and provided wholesome hearty breakfasts to kick start our day. Our bedroom was comfortable and spacious and we had the freedom of coming and going as we pleased. The cute little village of Barna is a gem on it's own charm and is well located to explore Galway and surrounds with local transport a breeze. Nearby is O'Dwyer's pub where we enjoyed a couple of delicious dinners and were entertained by traditional Irish music. The locals are friendly, helpful and most welcoming. We had a fabulous stay at Freeport House and would recommend it to anyone. Joan made our stay an especially memorable one!

We had the good fortune to stumble across a very charming Bed & Breakfast in the beautiful sea side village if Barna while visiting Galway area last week in Ireland. The owner Joan was so kind and helpful. She went above and beyond when my husband asked for a special breakfast not on her menu the last morning of our stay. She politely told him no and we placed our request for a menu option. The next morning Joan appeared in the dining room at 9:00 to serve our meals and brought out the meal he had requested! That is hospitality!!!

Our pleasant stay at the Freeport House made it possible to visit points of interest in the Galway area stress free. Located in a quiet area, it offers short distrance travel to Galway Sights, Restaurants and Markets.
The service and amenities are wonderful.
We look forward to staying at the Freeport House on future visits to the Galway area.
Thank you Joan for your warm welcome and professional service.
