“Dad's 50th Birthday Weekend”

Decided to book here for my Dad's 50th Birthday, and what a great decision it was. After searching the internet for a rental that was suitable for my family I found these fab reviews and decided to book up. Colin was great from start to finish and made our break just that extra bit special, he put up birthday signs all over the house, from under my dad's pillow to in the plant pot outside. Must not forget to mention on arrival there was a birthday cake and bottle of bubbly waiting for him, fantastic! Never felt so welcomed anywhere I have stayed before to this high of standard. Will be back in future :) Thanks for making my Dad's 50th fantastic! Lots to do if your wanting to just relax in the lovely cottage with the log burner on or if you want to go for a scenic walk and explore the nearby.

“A luxury retreat in a beautiful area”

Stayed at Codley Gate with my husband and our baby for a week in Feb and we couldn't have had a better week. Can't recommend this cottage highly enough; beautiful building, clean, modern, cosy, luxury, spacious, warm and well equipped. It is situated in a very quiet place away from the roads yet very close to many interesting sights and nice towns. The owners were friendly, left you to enjoy your holiday but weren't far away if you needed them. Will be back.

What a wonderful surprise for my birthday! My family booked Codley Gate cottage as a surprise for me and what a fantastic surprise it was.
The accommodation was perfect I couldn't find fault if I tried. We had a lovely welcome with goodies waiting for us which included a bottle of wine and freshly laid eggs from the hens who roamed outside the cottage.
The kitchen was first class and the living room was so comfy with a log fire and surround sound system. All three bedrooms were excellent and had en suites .We got free entry to the fort and museum which was magnificent.I can't wait to return, Thanks Colin.

What a super experience.Just returned from the best weekend ever with my two adult sons and one of their partners. The cottage is amazing with log burning stove 3 great en suites and a brilliant kitchen. The setting is wonderful with the stream running along just outside and the hens waiting outside the kitchen door in the morning to greet you.We were given some welcome goodies and free entry to the Roman fort and museum which was very interesting. We went to see Hadrian's wall which was very impressive and we had Sunday lunch in the Twice Brewed inn which was lovely. We were very sad to say goodbye and go back to reality but we will certainly return.

Having viewed Codley Gate website we were certainly NOT disappointed with the accomodation, very clean, comfiest beds ever, well catered in all areas, just first class. As a family it was great to have all the bedrooms en-suite, especially as one a teeneager!! The welcome pack was a lovely personel touch and much appreciated as was the free pass for Vindolanda ruins/museum, (2 minute walk up the lane) which were fascinating, informative and educational for all of us.Many local walks from the doorstep and a short drive to Hadrians Wall sites i.e Steel Riggs or Housestead,

“5* All reviews are accurate.”

This is a 5* cottage. It is a great conversion with good quality fittings; it was very clean, very comfortable and spacious. Though near to Vindolanda it was unbelievably peaceful and quiet. Both the dining kitchen and sitting room are easy to relax in and the bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable and clean.
The whole house is full of light.

Codley Gate Cottage has a table and chairs just outside the door which are inviting and though in the farmyard have a feeling of privacy. We loved the little bridge over the stream to the meadow which given the weather invites a picnic.

The hens are your best neighbours ever, they visit to look you over, never come in, chat amongst themselves and entertain you with their daily activities.

Vindolanda is an experience you must visit. The museum is world class and will not leave you untouched.

For us the outstanding memory is that of peace.
