“Lovely place and lovely people”

We stayed here for 2 nights in a family room. The room was very large and we were pleased that there was a single bed in place for our child and not a z bed. The whole place is clean, bright and airy. The bedding and towels were really fresh. The owners are both very friendly. There are quite a lot of pubs within a few miles drive so there was plenty of choice when it came to food and many of the attractions in the forest are easily accessed from Lydbrook.

Very simply put a great B & B in a great location run by a really nice couple. Andy & Christine were always there if you needed a bit of advice or a helping hand but never intrusive. The property was really clean and food was excellent. Never did get to try Andy's curry. Maybe next time. Location is very good for cycling in the forest. Will most certainly stay here again the next time we decide to visit the forest.

Thanks again to you both.

My Husband an I have just stayed at this wonderfully quaint B&B and our stay was fantastic.
Christine and Andy were so friendly and welcoming from the moment I started our email correspondence to the moment we checked out. They helped with their great knowledge of the surrounding areas and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay.
The room was perfect with a large super comfy bed!
Breakfast in the morning was very pleasurable in a lovely bright room.
The location is perfect for exploring the Forest of Dean with some lovely villages to drive through.
The only downside to our stay was that we only had 1 night here!!!! We will definitely be visiting again and will recommend this beautiful B&B to our friends and family.

Booked to break up my journey from Chester to Devon. Wished I had stayed longer. I stopped in the nearby Ross-on-Wye on my way and sat by the river in the sunshine.

Checked in to Ferndale at 3pm - a lovely welcome and showed to my room which was beautiful. (number 5). I've never known towels so soft, nor smelt bedsheets so fresh. Home-made cake in a little tin on the bed was a lovely touch, as was a bottle of water alongside the kettle and teabags etc.

I opted for poached egg on toast with a sausage for breakfast which was delicious and served in a lovely bright airy dining room.

I will definitely return, whether for a weekend getaway or a stop off to break up a journey - it was near perfect.

If I had to fault something, I'd personally prefer a more powerful shower, but I have very thick hair. I think for most, it's ample.

Free wifi is great and worked well. The TV was also good quality. Plenty of power sockets and mirrors in the room (important for ladies with hairdryers!). Good, easy parking too.

Owners both friendly and helpful with great knowledge of the surrounding area. I was made to feel most welcome. Thank you for a fabulous stay and for allowing others to share your beautiful home. I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Room Tip: Room 5 was gorgeous but I expect all are of the same standard!

I stayed in July 2014 in this lovely cottage. Everything was very clean and tidy with lots of thought to detail. There are lots of items provided which are valuable when you're self-catering. The stream behind the property and garden were lovely and the owners were very welcoming. I found the location ideal with so much on the doorstep with great walks all around. With the forest behind it is only a short walk to reach the peace of the trees and so much wildlife to see.

You can expect exceptional hospitality is this wonderful B&B in the Forest of Dean. A lovely location and something in the area for everyone in the family.
Whether you're hiking, cycling, having a family activity holiday in the surrounding area or just enjoying the wonderful views in the Forest of Dean. Ferndale House is the place to stay and the breakfast is to die for!
A strong 5* rating for this one and I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We went for B&B but self catering is also an option

We stayed for a week at the lodge in July 2014. The hosts were very accommodating - nothing was too much trouble - and the setting of the B&B was lovely. The garden was just on our doorstep, which was ideal for having our lunch in the sunshine.

The breakfast was excellent, and Christine's knowledge of the local area was very helpful. We would not hesitate to go back again.
