“Azores and Antonio --What a Great Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2013

We were resigned to walking around the town when we joined two other couples on a tour to the Twin Lakes. What a Great day it turned out to be. Antonio owns his own tour company. We went to one of the taller hills to get a view of the twin lakes--but it was fogged in completely. Never fear-Antonio took us on a several mile tour on what ofter was a "two track" road to a picnic ground the locals use mostly during the summer. It was really a treat. Every time someone wanted to take a photo, he was willing to stop for the shots. The tourist coffee houses were overrun, but we went instead to a small restaurant which had the best expresso I have ever had. Antonio bought us a small plate of the cheeses to sample. What a nice guy--I can't tell you how good the experience was for us.

“I fell in love with Azores because of FestiTour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2012

Thank you, Antonio, for a fabulous tour! (Thank you, TripAdvisor reviewers, for you recommendations, which led me to FestiTour!) The other reviewers wrote in detail, so I will merely say Antonio was a wonderful guide...totally accommodating our ship's time constraints, what we wanted to see (stopping for whenever we wanted to take pictures), how much we wanted to walk, and the weather. He patiently answered all of our questions. He took us to beautiful off-the-track places...where tour buses can't go!! ...And, he made us great sandwiches to enjoy in a bucolic setting. What more could I have asked for?!

“Festitour is Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2012

We booked Festitour to tour the island for our Trans Atlantic stop on April 10, 2012. Festitour is a one man operation run by Antonio Cabral. Antonio customizes your tour to meet your specific needs based on his extensive knowledge, your time limits and the weather conditions. Antonio's rates are extremely reasonable and you will feel very pampered. We highly recommend Festitour and encourage you to hook up with Antonio via email. His email address is geral@festitour.net
On our 17 day cruise, this tour was our best and most memorable experience.

“"Festi Tour" Azores review”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2011

We found FestiTour Thematic Tours on Trip Ad-visor and based on their
reviews and responses to our emails we decided to book in early
December for our cruise stop in Ponta Delgada. We had many questions
about the tour and places we wanted to stop along the ride around the
Azores. Mr. Antonio was very polite and responded promptly with our
numerous questions. He had a great knowledge of the area and
attractions and never became impatient with our many emails...(I am
from Japan and English is my second language so there was potential
for misunderstanding our requests, Mr. Antonio never became frustrated
with my poor writing and was always patient when responding). Our tour
was supposed to begin at 10:30 am but because the ship was late in
arriving we did not get underway until after 1:00 pm. Our tour was
supposed to begin with a stop at a supermarket for sandwiches and
drinks but we skipped it because of our late arrival, Mr. Antonio had
kindly made delicious sandwiches and had cookies and cold drinks in a
cooler for us, it was very considerate and a pleasant surprise. First
stop was Fire Lake look-out where we stopped twice on the road for
viewing the lake at different altitudes, Next was a stop at another
viewing area at Santa Iria then on to the town of Ribeira Grande
(which we called the "Hobbit Town" because of the similarity to some
of the scenery in the movie Lord of the Rings), next was a stop at the
hot springs (locals call them "boilers"), then the Park Terra Nostra
for swimming and garden viewing. We skipped the swimming but had a
wonderful time at the hot springs. Mr. Antonio brought some paper cups
so we could sample the natural spring mineral water at several
fountains along the walking path, (the water tasted a bit like seltzer
but was not unpleasant and we wanted to experience everything). The
garden at Terra Nostra was a victim of our late arrival as well as the
Tea Plantation but Mr. Antonio did a great job of prioritizing our
shortened visit and we had a wonderful time at Furnas. Next stop was
the view area at Pico do Ferro near Furnas where we had a beautiful
view of Furnas lake where people cook their meals in holes in the
ground using geothermal heat. All total the trip was supposed to be 6+
hours but it gets dark at a bit after 5:00 pm so we only had about 4
hours. Mr. Antonio was quick to re-arrange our shortened tour and we
had a wonderful time. We had two other couples with us from the ship
and we were all very satisfied with the tour. Mr. Antonio was a great
host, he does the tours as a sideline to his regular job and seemed
very proud of his island (he was born and raised in Sao Miguel and he
lived his whole life in the Azores), we could tell that he loved
giving tours and he was an expert driver. His van was very clean and
comfortable and not more than a few years old. Seat-belts were at
every seat and their use was mandatory. Mr. Antonio was also
considerate about making frequent bathroom breaks and always knew
where the best and cleanest bathrooms were (in our opinion this is the
sign of a true professional), he also knew where to get the best deal
on souvenirs. We would recommend him highly and we are already
planning a return trip and tour with him.

“We are not just customers, and welcome guests!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2010

Together with a friend, we spent an unforgettable week on the island of San Miguel (Azores). In traveling around the island we were accompanied Festitour company in face Antonio Cabral, who showed us all the most beautiful corners and the most protected places. We saw the fishing villages, closed valleys, and many more such places where tourists rarely drop, although usually these places are very exciting!
Antonio took care of and pampered us as he could, so we had the feeling that we are not just customers, and welcome guests, it's a wonderful feeling!
