“excellent studios”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

My sister and I stayed here for 13 nights in late June and July. We has two adjacent studios each with wonderful views of the sea. One of the studios also had a balcony to the rear. This was a real bonus as we could then choose to sit in sun or shade. We loved the rooms. The studios were superbly equipped, with lots of extras often not available eg hairdryer, mosquito machine, kettle, air conditioning that worked well. They were spotlessly clean when we arrived and were very well looked after during our stay.

Matthieu was such a welcoming and hospitable host. He gave us a much needed cold drink when we arrived, told us lots about the village, gave us a map and suggested places to go. If we needed to know anything he was there to ask. When we visited Perdika and Moni island, he ordered a taxi for us.

The studios are in an excellent location, near the beach and supermarket. There are also numerous tavernas nearby serving a variety of good food. The studios are in the middle of the village but are in a very quiet place.

This was our first trip to Aegina and to Agia Marina and we had a wonderful time. I have travelled to lots of places in Greece over many years and this certainly got the "thumbs up".

Stayed for 18 days in July , we loved the place and cant wait to stay there again. Mathieu and his wife are the most hospitable people you can imagine. We had a studio with a great view of Agia Marina and the building is surrounded by trees. The room was spacious and well equiped (had everything a family needs to cook inside) and the two balconies made the difference from the studios we have been staying in Agia Marina the last 8 years. We spent a lot of time in the lovely garden under the big old tree and took advantage of Mathieus offer by using the barbeque a lot. If you visit Agia Marina 123 Soleil are the best family studios you can find, dont forget to book early because there are only 6 of them.

We loved this place. It is an incredible deal and surpassed all of our expectations. We had two studio apartments (1 and 2) adjacent to each other, both with lovely balconies that had stunning views of the ocean. (We paid less for the two apartments combined than we would normally pay in a big city for one room without any kitchen). One apartment had three single beds (for our three children) and the other had two beds. Each had a spotlessly clean bathroom and shower with plenty of hot water. Each had a cooking area with an efficient hot plate (two burners), a refrigerator, and cupboards, dishes, and cookware. Unlike most hotels that supply the worst cookware in the cupboards, this had wonderful, top-line stainless steel pots of all sizes, plenty of plates, silverware, cups and such. Nothing was lacking! The apartment was absolutely spotless and fresh feeling, with lovely linens and towels. It would be great for families and honeymooners alike. The free wi-fi in the rooms was very convenient. We stayed two nights and wish we had planned for more.

The owners, Mathieu and his wife, were the most hospitable people imaginable. Mathieu is French, which explains the French name of the apartments. His wife is Greek. Both speak very good English. Their parents were also there, staying in the house below for the Easter holiday, and they too were immensely helpful. One of them walked us to a trail to show us how to get started on a hike, and the other drew a detailed map for us. Another gave our children wonderful sweets from the bakery. Mathieu even drove us across the island to catch the ferry so that we could save a taxi fare. When we left we felt that we were leaving old friends.

The island of Aegina is a small paradise. Only an hour ferry ride from Athens, it feels like a world apart (and unlike many other Greek islands, Aegina is affordable for a family -- we are a family of five traveling with our three children). The bustling port town of Aegina (where the ferry comes in) is cute, but has lots of traffic. We went to the other side of the island, to Aegina Marina (don't mix that up with Aegina town itself), where 123 Soleil is located. We took a taxi there (for 15 euros), but there is also intermittent bus service. The bus service seemed to end at 2:00 pm, so with better planning we could have saved the taxi fare over. The little town of Aegina Marina is authentic, local, has wonderful little shops for groceries and vegetables (and bakeries) and has a gorgeous beach to swim on. The beach and ocean is very safe for kids (our youngest is 7). Just a short walk up a hill (about 20 minutes) is an ancient temple that rivaled the Acropolis in its day. When you hike up to it (and hiking is by far the most rewarding way to get there), you feel transported back in time. We thought that the Acropolis (Athens) was wonderful, but this amazing temple with its stately ancient columns is close up and personal, with very few visitors. We had a picnic there.

123 Soleil, and the town of Aegina Marina, has our highest recommendation for other travelers (including families with children).

Room Tip: rooms 1 and 2 combined are great for a family
