“First class accommodation in Nagar”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

I have stayed at Treetops Cottages since 2006 and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful, friendly, clean and comfortable stay. The town of Naggar is great, quiet and very different to the busy Manali.

The family that run the house have become great friends of mine and go that extra mile to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The 2 bedrooms cottage is great, and the 3 bedroom cottage is ample for a family - along with kitchen, fast wifi, tv and all the mod cons.

The new chef was a real bonus this year and the food is excellent - breakfast, lunch or dinner - try the trout fish it is excellent.

I visit this house as a researcher from the UK, and I am just so pleased its right in the middle of the area I need to be. I will stay next year, the year after, the year after..............

Seriously, I cant recommend this accommodation enough - fantastic!

Room Tip: Hire the whole cottage - the prices are so reasonable

Located far away from any commercialisation, this place is the place to stay if you're simply looking to relax and truly appreciate nature. A very, VERY peaceful place on a budget with apple and pear trees all around you. An amazing view of the hills, wonderful weather and a very polite staff will make your stay worthwhile. The cottages are HUGE and give a very homely feel. The two staff members, Bobby and Anil, will take care of your customised needs. You can tell them to make you whatever you feel like having and they'll serve it fresh within an hr.
This place is exactly 20 km from manali and a 2.5 hour drive to rotank paas and is therefore perfectly located.

All in all, this place is just perfect!

Location : Well located away from traffic on a hill slope with beautiful view of snow topped mountains . Just adjacent to property owners house are two cottages that are rented out for homestays.

Staff : Were courteous and helpful.

Room Service: You can inform the staff about your choices for next meal. Expect homely food not restaurant food. Though would have loved a bit more professionalism in service. I suppose there is option of ordering from outside, but we did not try though.

Rooms : Are well maintained, need more heaters as one is expected to take living room heaters to bedroom once you retire for the day.

TV: Passable, you did not come here for that in any case.

Wifi : No wifi , bring your data card alog. Reliance has very good signal strength at cottage.
Furniture in the Room : Well kept and enough for a small family to get by.
Toilet : Clean , though rudimentary again remember this is homestay not a hotel.
Toiletries : Good
Summary: Over all a good week end option to have , specially for those who do not want to get from one city to another for a week end and love the peaceful out of city atmosphere. A walk around the cottage to apple orchards will introduce you to a variety of birds that you do not see any where else. The Deodhar tress around , specially the huge one just outside the compound gives you a sense of living among nature.

Room Tip: You would need a vehicle either rented or your own to get in and out of this place.

Excellent location and great hospitality. Thank u Mr. Chandan for building up something so good. I fell in love with this place when I saw this online and being there was a dream come true. Chandan saheb has gone many extra miles to build this dream home and what a great host he himself is.
It was such a wonderful feeling of staying there and we felt as if it was our own villa.

Food prepared by Anil was delicious and sumptuous too. He was a great help in the daily chores.

I stayed there for three nights from 12 to 15 jan and felt that it was too short a visit for some thing that spectacular.

Would definitely recommend a stay at treetops cottages to my family and friends.

Thanks again Mr. Chandan for all your help and making our stay warm and comfortable. Would love to visit u again in near future.

Chandan has worked hard to make this a very comfortable well thought out home stay. Naggar is a delightful town in which to stay and a great base to start a trek. Chandan also helped us arrange a camping trek and hired a guide, cook and man with horses for us. They were all so friendly, not too much English but not a problem, and the food was excellent. We did a 4 night trek over the Chanderkhani pass, the views were spectacular and the trip ended near the surreal town of Malana. An experience not to be missed, but be prepared for a very basic guest house here. The time of year ( end of October) meant there were very few people on the route, we only met one other couple, but it was cold.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, the location is in a quiet area of the town and the home stay set in a lovely g...

We visited Treetops Cottage in April 2012, a group of 4 adults. We had taken up the 2 bedroom cottage. The location is spectacular, with unhindered views of the snow capped mountain ranges across the Beas. Treetops is located about half way up the slope and therefore offers a great ambience, without any clutter. The rooms are nice and happy, with big windows and balconies (in the upper floor). The owners live in the adjoining house and are least interfering. They go about their routine and if you want, you can join the senior member in his daily rounds of their apple orchard.
Food is cooked by a local man engaged by the owners, but whom you have to pay directly (the owners are not involved in his dealings with you). He also gets the groceries etc, which, of course, you pay for. There is some lack of transparency in the way he operates, so it's best to keep a tab on his spending. Also, he tends to make very oily food, which you may not like after one or two meals. By the end of our four days there, we were not feeling very healthy with that food.
Treetops is located at the right height from where you can climb up to the Naggar Castle (a HPTDC Hotel now) and further up to the Roerich Estate. The trek up is easy and even heavy footed city folks like us managed it well. During our trip, we never took our car out to go anywhere (which is just as well, since the path up to the cottage from the main road is narrow and steep and can be tricky for slightly larger vehicles).
Overall, a very good ambience and time well spent, except for the little bit of discomfort with the cook and his cooking.

Room Tip: They seem to have added some new rooms since the time we went, but I reckon the main cottage with 3...
