The Inn has beautiful grounds right next to the river and there are walking paths close by. The room I had was large and comfy. However, my daughter and granddaughter had a room over the bar which turned out to be too noisy for my granddaughter to sleep. They left the room on the first night and moved in with me. My only complaint is that they charged us for that room anyway for that night. They did cancel our reservation for the next night for that room. The staff were very young, especially at the restaurant and bar.

Room Tip: Don't get a room over the restaurant/bar.

We had a really enjoyable stay and dinner at the Slaughters Country Inn. The room was extremely comfortable and the receptionist was charming and helpful. The service at dinner was good but could have been better with a little bit more attention to detail and some more charm from one or two staff members.

We stayed for one night and had a superb experience. Check in was swift and friendly with staff accompanying us to our room (The farrer - they are all named after famous old Etonians)
Full afternoon tea served in the bar was exceptional - £15 provided us with stunning sandwiches and a selection of cakes. We ordered 2 and to be truthful 1 would have been more than enough.
We wandered through the village later and returned for a meal in the restaurant. Highly recommended. I had the duck with my wife having chicken, expertly prepared and served promptly by the friendly staff. Dessert for my wife was vanilla panacotta with strawberries and I sampled the sticky toffee pudding, awesome.
We had a drink in the bar afterwards, with the only downside being the tables not being cleared, however this is such a minor point it doesn't detract from the experience. The bar staff remembered our names and always addressed us courteously and swiftly.
The room was sumptuous and the bed could have slept 6.
Breakfast was equally impressive with the full English being prepared superbly. The black pudding was truly exquisite.
The grounds are scenic and peaceful with the setting being amongst the most tranquil we have found.
A wonderfully relaxing experience. A gem of a hotel, and to be informed on check out that we would receive a complimentary upgrade on our next visit sealed it for us, a return is a must.
My compliments to all the management and staff.

A great Inn in a great setting. Lovely food in the restaurant and great service. We had a standard double room which was very spacious and with a super king sized bed. The bathroom was really big with separate bath and power shower

The hotel's location in town is picture post card perfect and is a great base for rambling around the Cotswolds. The staff was very friendly. Our unit, the Hawtrey, was clean, spacious, and nicely furnished. The unit had a locked door which led to an attached adjoining upstairs area. Unfortunately, we could hear every footstep of the person in the unit above us. The bed was very soft and comfortable. The large bathroom had a restored bathtub and separate shower. The shower was great -- it was like standing under a waterfall!

Housekeeping was poor. When we arrived, there was only one towel...no problem, the front desk girl brought another. The next day, when we returned around 5pm, the bed had not been made, no vacuuming was done, the tub/shower mats were unmoved, and they had not restocked the cookies or toilet paper

The breakfast service was attentive and fast. Breakfast offerings in terms of fruit and pastries were limited. They offer cereal, yogurt, dried fruit, and on one of the two mornings, a frozen berry compote. They have a nice hot breakfast menu, which states that they charge an additional 2.5 pounds for salmon, kippers, or eggs benedict. (however, we were not charged). I found the eggs benedict disappointing due to the cold ham with barely warm hollandaise sauce.

Despite these shortcomings, we would recommend this hotel because the problems were minor and the location and setting cannot be beat.

We have travelled to the Cotswolds and walked passed this hotel on several occasions but thought it was more expensive than other accommodation locally which put us off. However, following the nights stay we will definitely be returning and will be more than happy to pay the extra costs. . It is a short drive to Bourton-on-the-water, where we have stayed in many hotels, however we will be chosing the slaughters inn from now on.
We were expecting the room to be very small as we had booked on a special offer deal, but it was extremely spacious with a luxurious bathroom and very clean. The reception staff were very friendly and the hotel is very peaceful so had a great nights sleep.
The food in the restaurant was very good along with the service.
Lower slaughter is very pretty and the mill which is a short walk from the hotel takes you back in time.
We could not fault this hotel at all!!!

A truly magnificent place to stay, we stayed in the junior suite, which was lovely and spacious and very clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The evening meal and breakfast we had was excellent.
We will certainly use this hotel again, if we are ever in the area.
