Stayed at this hotel and the new owner has done wonders to the place! Very friendly and helpful! Rooms were nice and clean and the evening meal was the best I have ever had!! What a chef!!! My only criticism is that the owner supports Tottenham!! Looking forward to staying again!

Stayed one night recently, partly on the strength of the last 3 reviews on Trip Advisor. The staff were very nice & friendly and it's easy to find with a large car park, but that is the end of the positives. On the down side, food was very average, beds were old and lumpy, bathroom very small and there was significant traffic noise. Worst of all, when we were there, a member of staff was staying in a caravan behind the hotel in a caravan. We woke at 2am to find our room filled with exhaust fumes from his petrol electric generator. Not impressed. At least we lived to tell the tale. Needless to say the owner refunded us.

Had the pleasure of staying in this hotel last week. Could not fault it, Very comfortable and really friendly with great home cooked food. .All the staff including the owner, Dave, was very friendly and could not do enough to make the guests happy. I would rate it 10/10 for comfort, value and food. If you are in the area you will not find a better place to stay. My room was very comfortable it was cleaned with towels being replaced everyday. All the rooms are built around the courtyard with a water fountain in the center, and large garden tables. decorated with hanging plants. Great to sit in the courtyard and chill out with a cold beer. .It was like a home from home experience. I will definitely be back and will recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. It was a real pleasure staying in this family run hotel. As I was travelling on a motorbike I would particular recommond it to bikers as there is a very large parking area.

My husband and I stayed here for one night 18 May. Easy to find. Big car park. On a busy road but the rooms are around a small courtyard at the back so we heard no traffic noise at all. Our room was fine although a bit dated. Breakfast was excellent. The owner has only been there a few months and has plans to improve the large grounds. We arrived with another couple and he drove us all several miles to our friends house free of charge - a nice surprise and excellent customer service. We got back to the hotel very late and they kept the bar open for us until after midnight. We were made to feel very welcome and would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Not sure if all the rooms are around the courtyard at the back but I will be asking for one there wh...

I stayed one night in a twin room with a colleague. The hotel is easily accessible, in a good location for what we needed and is stunning. The pictures do not do it justice anywhere I have seen as the main building is set in an old coach house and the rooms are converted out-houses. This gives the hotel a unique look of traditional overcoat with a modern interior. A courtyard joins them all with a beautiful fountain in the middle and gravel path leading to the parking area which is huge. The owners have only recently taken over 9 weeks ago and as I say, a working progress but once settled this hotel will be second to none.
Teething problems is all as they are trying to update what was left from the previous owners and so some things need replacing. The owners, a father and daughter (although we didn't meet the daughter) were down to earth and around for our needs. Unfortunately the chef was away stuck in traffic for the night and this is where we were let down. We were offered a small alternative to the menu for dinner however we chose to go into the town of Royston, only 10 minutes away. As for breakfast, the owner then made it himself and although the ingredients where there for a high quality and well presented breakfast, it was all slightly undercooked and the coffee weak. This was disappointing after I had read previous reviews of what the chef normally creates,
Overall the hotel is immaculately clean, friendly and a sure bargain stay. A quiet night even though on a busy road, not a peep from a car.
