My husband and I stayed here for 1 night while picking up our son from work experience in the area. What a find! The pub (a true "country inn" with WW2 aircraft memorabilia, has 2 self contained letting rooms and we had our own front door, which was good, they even left an umbrella there so guests kept dry going round to the bar for breakfast! Our room was really clean and spacious with an ensuite bathroom with a shower over, also tea/coffee facilities and mineral water. The bed was comfortable and we slept well, it was so quiet and peaceful outside, we heard the TV from the other room a little but it wasn't intrusive. Dinner was amazing and breakfast too: Stuart was friendly and efficient, and we loved the ambience of the 16th century bar as well. We paid £75 for the room and the full breakfast: I had porridge and a vegetarian full breakfast and my husband had cornflakes and full English. More than adequate! We were also pleased that they take one night stays, and would happily stay again. Thank you!

we live in royston and were looking for a wedding venue for our party as we recently got married in greece and wanted a party for when we returned, we had looked at various venues yet nothing was suited untill we found the woodman!
With its gorgeous surroundings and and cozy thatched pub we enterered the woodman and were surpised how spacious the place really was.
We were taken to see the marquee and given the details of having the wedding party there.
The couple who own the pub (jenna and stu) were so helpful with ideas and ideas to go alongside ours to make our day perfect.
We had a fabulous day and couldnt thank them enough for all there hard work, the food was fantastic and I couldnt fault one thing.
I would 100% recommed the woodman to anyone who wants a quality and service, and I shall definatly book the woodman for other events especially my 30th in a few years.

Me and my partner stayed here Wed 26th June 2013 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The hotel itself is steeped in history with accompanying photographs all around the pub, attracting anyone with an interest in the 398th Bombardment Group that used this pub to relax in and enjoy the fine ale during World War Two. RAF Nuthampstead is the old airfield used by the battalion and parts of this are still present. You get a real sense of nostalgia here.
The hotel is quaint, friendly and relaxing. The countryside around it really sets this hotel off with a few options for a local walk.
The staff are very friendly and warming. The food is outstanding and great value for money. The breakfast provided is also out of this world.
We stayed here in order to visit Duxford IWM which is only about 15-20 mins away so a great location if you are thinking of visiting this museum.
The bedrooms have a large en-suite bathroom with all mod cons. The bed is comfortable and the location is so quiet for a peaceful night.
Highly recommend this hotel.
