“Absolute peace and tranquility!!!”
Reviewed 7 May 2012

This is a return visit to the lodges and can 100% say I was right the first time. This place is a little slice of heaven tucked away in mid Wales. Rolling hills, superb views and a hot tub. What more could you ask for?? I have no doubt in my mind we'll be back again real soon. Ann Paul and phoebe are great hosts and are never too far away should you need some hints tips or a helping hand. Would We recommend this place....... ABSOLUTELY we would. Take my advise if you want a break from the rat race then this is the ideal place!!!

We have just got back from a mid week break which has turned out to be one of the best relaxing holidays we have had. From the moment we arrived Ann made us ever so welcome, their service is outstanding; the lodge was spotlessly clean, cosy and even has a few homely touches. At the end of the day after visiting the beautiful towns in the area, the day was perfected by a relax in the hot tub looking out to the amazing views and the only sound of bleating sheep made our stay even more special. If you want a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings this is definitely the place. I am on the internet now re-booking, can't wait to go back.

We stayed in the lavender lodge for 7 nights. We had a very friendly greeting and Ann was very helpful and the book in the lodge was brilliant and helped us to find places to eat and go. The lodge itself was amazing and the hot-tub and sauna were brilliant. It was very clean and we enjoyed waking up to the sound of sheep. Would recommend the Fish and chip shop in the village near by and the Hall hotel for a special occasion. Was a fantastic holiday and will definitely go back next year.

My wife and I stayed in the Lavender Lodge on 13th April for three nights and can't express how pleased we were with Trewythen Lodges.

From the moment we arrived Anne was really inviting and friendly, doing everything she could to ensure our stay was a great one. If you visit Aberystwyth whilst you're here, take Anne's advice and drive the mountain roads at Elan Valley; some truly spectacular views. Please ignore the reviews on here criticising Anne as the few times we bumped into her over the weekend she was lovely.

Anne and her husband deserve all the recognition they get for making Trewythen lodges as good as they are. I don't think I've stayed anywhere in the world where the accommodation is so spotlessly clean.

We found it difficult to leave the lodge at all during our 3 night stay. The hot tub and sauna are brilliant. The hot tub itself was excellently maintained and looks almost new, again this shows the extent the owners go to keep the high standards they've created here.

The added bonus of a LCD TV on the wall of the bedroom was also a pleasant surprise.

I can't find any faults with Trewythen Lodges and can 100% guarantee that we will be returning. I've also recommended Trewythen Lodges to all of my family and friends, and I'm sure a few will be visiting themselves.

This was our 2nd stay at these lodges as we felt it pointless to look elsewhere after what we felt was the perfect location for this type of break. Ann greeted us and gave us a warm welcome and reminded us how to use the sauna and hot tub. The lodge itself is clean , cosy , spacious and we had all we needed to make us feel at home. There are quiet lanes which are flat and ideal for leisurely bike rides which was ideal for our 7 year old who isnt confident on roads. There's plenty to do in the surrounding areas including many reservoirs with stunning views. One trip I would highly recommend is the silver mountain experience which gave us a good few laughs. Ann also recommended some of the local restaurants including the spice club in Llanidloes which we enjoyed. There's lots of rolling countryside straight from the lodge and the hot tub and sauna where a superb addition to what was a cracking stay.

We have just stayed for the Easter Break in the Bluebell lodge-The lodge itself is fine but lacks a cupboard for food so has to be squashed in with the crockery and pots and pans are under the sink with the waste pipes! The heating thermostat is restricted so you do not have free reign over the temperature of your accomodation.
We were well aware that there would be a 10pm curfew on the hot tub as it is stated on the website and had no problem with this however on our arrival Ann explained that Hoseasons now insist due to new guidelines that children under 16 are only allowed in the hot tub for 15mins a day! Adults are allowed 30 min sessions only and in the literature it states that you will be asked to get out if you exceed this! and we were left under no illusion that these rules are enforced! We then had to sign to say that we had been given this 'Health and Safety' advice- never have we had to do this anywhere else before. This led us to feel very watched and uncomfortable whilst we were in the hot tub and at the lodge itself.
We made Ann aware that we were very unhappy with this and if we had been advised of this earlier(when we spoke to Ann a few days before we arrived)) then we would have cancelled and gone elsewhere. Ann did offer us a refund and the option of finding alternative accomodation but as we had just travelled 4 hours to get there and it was 5pm on Good Friday we were unable to find somewhere else although we did try so had no real option other than to make the most of what should have ben a nice break.
We awoke on the day of our departure to find the hot tub padlocked shut!!! We were left under no ilusion that we were not to use the hot tub on the morning of deparure but clearly there is no trust from the owners with their guests.
We saw Ann on the eve of our departure and she asked us if we had enjoyed our stay- I was very careful with my answer and said we had a nice time out and about at the food fayre and on Bike rides, there was no point going over the issues that we had with all the rules and regulations as we felt that we were only spoke at and not listened to.
Such a shame as a lovely part of the country and we were looking forward to a relaxing break which due to all the issues turned out to be very sressful!Needless to say we will not be returning!

Thank you for your review. As owners we are following guidelines from Health and Saftey, Manufacturers and Hoseasons regarding hot tubs. We therefore ask parents to be responsible when their children are using hot tubs. We very much trust our guests and take every precaution to make sure the hot tubs are clean and safe for use. On the morning of departure the hot tubs are locked, so that they are in tip top condition at 4 pm for new arriving guests, as it was for yourselves on your arrival.

As you said in you review, I did offer you a full refund and ask you to leave as I was not happy with your manner, but you did refuse!!!

Our third visit & probably the best yet. Warm welcome from Ann & Paul. We phoned to say we'd be late and arrived as darkness fell to find lodge open and electric fire on. Worth getting to know them as they know loads about the local area & are very helpful.

Petrol scare took off after we arrived any we were concerned for a couple of days as we needed fuel to get home. However, didn't seem to be as much panic here as in the South East and in any case, there are some lovely walks that you can do straight from the lodge. Talk to Paul who gives very good directions. Ann also suggested trip to Shrewsbury by train. Free parking at Caersws Station about 1.5 miles away & 2 hourly train service. Cheap day return for two cost about £15 (probably cheaper than petrol & parking) & a relaxing 45 minute journey. Beautiful old town. Worth going to the Dingle (garden laid out by Percy Thrower) which was stunning. Why can't my council do something like that? Also did river trip & there are guided walks which we didn't have time for. On other days we enjoyed walking at Elan Valley & Lake Vyrnwy. Drove up to Snowdonia but we far prefer the calm and peace of mid-Wales.

We initially stayed here in 2010 when the lodge was fairly new and it remains very well maintained & well equipped. More spacious than another more expensive lodge that we have stayed in & centrally heated which is good for March (although we didn't need it this year - more like high summer!). Additional bonus of lots of sheep & lambs in adjacent field - very relaxing watching them from the hot tub. Paul maintains hot tubs really well & despite using it twice every day, water was still crystal clear after a nine day stay. We are seasoned hot-tub users and have found elsewhere that water tends to become a bit cloudy after a few days (and yes - we do shower before use!). Thanks for a wonderful holiday & hope to be back next year.
