Great stay with my teenage son. We had a spacious twin room, very good facilities and perfect breakfast.

Many thanks for providing our tasty packed lunches for our long day out in the forest.

Would recommend.

This was the second time i have stayed here when in area with work and it doesn't disappoint. A great hotel, that is ideal for all the reasons highlighted by previous reviewers! Clean, well furnished, very comfortable, and lovely hosts, plus excellent value, i paid only £55 for the night and my only regret was that i didn't get to eat here as i am sure it would be excellent!

Efficient check in and friendly staff throughout. Good bedroom, clean and comfortable. Only disappointment were two towels that were a tough on the rough side. But I was only there for one night so no matter. I was at the front, overlooking the main road, and wondered for a fleeting minute if it would be noisy as I like to keep a window open. But hang on, this is Llanidloes. Its hardly going to see a seething throng of drinkers or boy racers in the high street at mid week. I was right. A quiet comfortable night. In between, I eat in the restaurant. Very nice lamb chops but the pea puree was very dry. But overall, it was far nicer than the kebab shop opposite or other take aways. Have stayed in Llanidloes before, and this was nicer than others. Overall a good place to stay. Recommended.

The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom clean and roomy. Excellent breakfasts. My husband and I reserved the family room, which was really two bedooms, so we could have space to spread out after a week of traveling in a van with five other people. The Unicorn's hosts, Glyn and Hayley, grew up in the area. When we made a need known, they responded promptly. They were ready to answer any question and make us aware of local resources. The Unicorn is in the middle of this quaint Welsh town, which in turn is in the middle of Wales, surrounded by lovely countryside. The food prepared and served here was amazing--far beyond our expectations for such a small town. (The only annoyance was some rowdy folks making noise out front in the wee hours of Sun. morning.) What we liked best was being in the middle of town and being able to cover the whole town on foot to trace where some ancestors lived. The local people we met were friendly and helpful. We highly recommend the Unicorn in Llanidloes! If we get a chance, we'll stay there again.

Perfectly pleasant hotel, spacious room and bathroom, very clean and fresh. There was a kettle in the room with tea, coffee etc. There was a sign in the room advertising the mattresses, saying they were Tempura mattresses made locally. I thought the whole point of Tempura mattresses is that they mould to your body, and are therefore more suitable for only one person to sleep on regularly. They were a bit too soft for my liking.

The owner was very helpful to us in storing our bicycles overnight. I was a bit upset that there were two dogs in a small enclosure at the back of the hotel, who were locked up whilst we were there, but the owner said she'd just taken them for a walk and I suppose Health & Safety rules don't allow them to roam around the hotel or food areas. A pity though.
