“Good hotel but over-priced and located in a boring part of Spain.”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

The hotel Hotel Can Ceret is a pleasant hotel. Its decorated in traditional Spanish style and included some Salvador Dali art work in the corridors (copies , of course). The rooms are comfortable that include a large bathroom with a spa. The beds were comfortable (firm with soft top). The rooms also include an old-style study desk with retractable top, which was quite quaint. The hotel was also very quiet. We were towards the end of August and there were only a handful of guests, which you hardly heard. The Wi-Fi was free and had average speeds for a hotel, which are more than acceptable for most uses. There are also communal seating areas and balconies on each floor so you can get some fresh air and still be close by.

If you're travelling by car (really, I couldn't see how else you'd get to or find Sant Pere Pescardor) then there is a free parking area across the road that always had parking spaces available. Just keep an eye on the signs as there are markets on in the car park some mornings during the week and the car is required to be moved (not a problem but you just need to be aware).

While this hotel was pleasant, I do think it is very over-prices as it didn't offer anything that you'd expect from a hotel that is over 90 Euros per night, especially in a town like Sant Pere Pescador. Unless you have ties to Sant Pere Pescador then the town has little to offer a tourist. Quite frankly, its boring (my family used more choice words that would see me banned from TripAdvisor if I quoted them) so we used it to as a base to visit other areas. You're better off staying in Roses, Cadaques or Figueres.

I won't be returning to Hotel Can Ceret or Sant Pere Pescador.

Room Tip: Stay in Roses, Figueres or Cadaques. Stay away from San Pere Pescardo

The room we had was large, but everything seemed a bit old and worn out. The fridge was loud and we could not sleep without turning it off. The worst was the experience with the staff. We were told by one of the employees that we can use a terrace on the second floor (which also the hotel claims on booking.com). As we were sitting down another employee came and told us we cannot use the balcony. It made us feel very uncomfortable and somewhat confused. The other aspect that bothered was that they did not clean the room. The excuse was that we were in the room from 2-3pm, we could not understand how come a hotel cannot organize to clean the rooms of its guests. We perceived that the price we paid was too high for the service and the quality of the accomodation we got. We woild definitely not recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a cycling trip and the receptionist could not have been more helpful as were the other members of staff. We were the only two people staying in the hotel but were never made to feel it was a hassle to do anything. The room was immaculate and the meals in the attractive restaurant were excellent. Thank you very much for making our stay so pleasant.

Ahh, the Can Ceret Hotel...what a wonderful place to stay. My husband and I stayed for nearly a week and would have loved to stay longer! This was a truly comfortable hotel to spend a vacation. The staff was welcoming and recommended things for us to do, places to eat, etc., all of which were fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable (except the pillow which was a bit hard), the bathroom was spacious, and the shower had some great water pressure to get off the sand and sweat from the day. The village had many restaurants (I recommend Mas Guso and Ratpenak), and for a morning or evening pastry, visit Fleca Patisseria for a first class desert. Shop keepers were very patient with us not knowing any Catalan, just what you'd hope for while you're trying to relax. The hotel offers breakfast which we bought just one morning, but for the 16Euros we spent, we could have bought a feast somewhere else. The beaches nearby were beautiful and not crowded in October at all. Sant Pere is close to Cadaques (harrowing drive though), Figueres, Girona, France, and only about 90 minutes from Barcelona. We'd definitely go back for another stay if we are in the area again. Special thanks to the two ladies who run the hotel. They were wonderful to us!

Room Tip: Maybe try to avoid room 2. The utility room is across the hall and sometimes the staff has to access...

A special mention to the extremely lovely lady who organises breakfast at this hotel - she could not have been more helpful & friendly.
The hotel is small, slightly dated but quite charming and exactly what we expected. It is clean, comfortable with friendly staff and perfect for our 2 night stay in the area.
There is far more to do around here than you might imagine - not just the extensive beach area (very windy) but great cycling, wildlife, and music festivals - we went to one in Cap Roig about an hour away which was world class with ballet dancers from the Royal Ballet performing. Superb!

Found this hotel at last minute and very pleased to have done so. Lovely cool stone interior and spacious rooms with large well equipped bathrooms (found most hotels in Spain having baths with shower over, which suits us well). Also a lift which is great for us as son is wheelchair user. Staff very freindly and helpful and spoke English (we don't speak Spanish but do speak French).
Breakfast a self service buffet with a simple but good range and also great timing, 9 til 11 so very leisurely for a holiday. The owner actually asked us when we were checking out what we had thought of the breakfast cos they had just started doing it, and we (husband and I) agreed that it was nice sometimes to actually speak to the owner of a small place..
Only slight oddity (but not a problem and in fact something the owner was well aware of and intending to try and address) is that the integral restaurant, where we ate on first night, is not actually part of the hotel so you can't put your meal onto your room tab)

Free car park very close by too.

Easy to drive south or north to Roses & then onto Cadaques. .. well worth the hairy drive for the views and lanscape!

The only downside really is that the actual town seemed a bit devoid of charm and in fact the word "dump" was used by at least one of us...! Maybe we missed something but it was not a place we wanted to stroll round in the evening. We actually went along the road to St Marti the second evening and had a nice meal on the small very busy square.

Room Tip: Maybe not above the bar/restaurant if there is a birthday party going on!
