Unbelievably well preserved and small - miniature! - castle. A wonderful 45 minutes walk through history, for all ages. The host/ticket man was extremely welcoming, friendly and fun. A must visit when in le Cotentin.

Chateau du Pirou, is a 12th century moated castle undergoing continuing restoration however, do not let that put you off a visit as I think it is quite special in location and atmosphere.
Although there are few historical items on display (one new tapestry depicting the Norman invasion of Sicily), the buildings are certainly impressive and the written guide is fascinating reading. The Chateau has a tranquil feel about it and is well worth the incredibly cheap 5 euro admission.

Lonely, but easy to find, off the road enchanting little castle with its very own tapestry (just done). Not much to do, which is nice, lovely surroundings, stagnant moat, fairly difficult climb to the battlements, all very cold and windy and realistic because the place was abandoned for years and is just being renovated, so rush and see it before Disney takes it over. Good place for a picnic and the guy at the reception was charming.

This was a fascinating place to visit - a real castle with a moat. It is still under restoration but is remarkable none the less. The grounds are also great with places to walk and sit on the grass. Much work has been done to explain the history of the castle. Our visit was a real highlight of the holiday - we shall never forget the sun streaking through the leaves of the spreading plane trees overlooking the moat. A great place to take kids who would be in their element.

Nice to walk around but not so much to see. So much more restoration to do. Nice to walk around the battlements and to see an oval moated house.
