Description: Under new management, we have changed the focus of Overton House. As well as serving homemade soups, light lunches, snacks and an array of sweet treats, we also sell many of these items to take out. Soup, sandwiches, savouries, scones and cakes are some examples. The small shop section of the cafe sells unusual deli items, Emma Bridgewater pottery and delicious treats from the likes of Mad Hatter Tea, Corks and Cases Masham, Taylor's of Harrogate and Rosebud Preserves. As we're a family-owned, family-run business, we close on Mondays and Thursdays.

Popped into Overton House to escape the rain today and what a find it is. Great range of cakes, sandwiches and snacks, all served by friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely home made soup, served with very moorish warmed cheese scones... delicious! We'll be back!

A real haven on a cold wet April day. Warming delicious soup with the best cheese scones on the side. Bought some extra scones to take home. Excellent friendly service and amazing views across the dales.

This is a tea shop at it's very best. No restaurant menu or fine dining, this is a homely, friendly, welcoming tea shop serving delicious hot and cold snacks, sandwiches (with proper fresh chunky bread),homemade soups (big bowls served with fresh homemade bread or cheese scone) and a display of fresh savoury pastries. As if that isn't enough there is a display of freshly made cakes, traybakes, scones, biscuits and all sorts of yummie temptations. This is a small family run business and clearly they have pulled out all the stops to make it work. Nothing is too much trouble, everyone is welcome the minute they walk through the door. Even a takeaway service is provided for those in a hurry and with such delicious food on offer why would you walk past. I think it is a real shame that some reviewers are comparing it to the previous business which was fine dining and evening meals (at a significantly higher cost as well of course) and I can understand they would be disappointed if they had arrived expecting a 3 course dinner of seafood, halibut or french quisine only to find that it is now a lovely little tea shop which doesn't aim to attract fine diners. It does the tea shop thing very, very well and it is the quality of the food (homebaked and fresh) that makes it stand out. I know I will go back again and again. It may take a long time to sample all of the delicious cakes on offer but I intend to try. I wish you both the very best of luck in your new business venture and hope all of your hard work pays off, you deserve it.

Visited this Cafe over the bank holiday. True cafe now under the very pleasant owners. Very busy when we arrived with customers spilling over to seats outside. Enjoyed our coffees and homemade scones, etc, so much so we went back again after our walk.

We went for an evening meal last summer and had a great experience, but we heard then that it was on the market and likely to change hands over the winter. So, when we visited today we weren't quite sure what to expect.
It's different, more of a true café than a restaurant and with a simpler menu, but it's still a great find. They offer a wide range of really nice cakes, terrific sandwiches, a good mixture of light lunches plus some quite unusual 'deli' items, all served in a fresh, stylish and very friendly way. Run by a really nice couple who know the area well and are trying new ideas to see what works best, it's a truly uplifting experience and certainly the nicest daytime eating place we've found in Reeth (they don't currently open in the evenings). Do try it.
