“Dales Delight”
Reviewed 1 July 2014

This hotel is set in a delightful village in the heart of the Dales with outstanding views, there is 3 pubs in the village which all serve good home cooked food (I'd recommend the Black Bull)
The hotel is a wonderful experience, it is run by Mo and Julia who ensure that all residents are warmly welcomed and from the moment you enter the building you sense you are in for a treat.
We booked 4 nights and enjoyed every single minute.
The hotel is classy without being over the top, we had the Marrick room which is at the front of the hotel overlooking the village green and the views beyond are outstanding.
The room has a four poster bed and is a really good size with plenty of storage space.
The bath room has a bath and shower with a dressing/wardrobe room adjacent.
Dogs are welcome indeed the owners have two themselves which all adds up to a classy hotel with a superb atmosphere.
The hotel serves a wonderful high quality breakfast with something for every taste and if you wish dinner is available every day from 7.30 for 8pm.
If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing break this is the place to be!
We will certainly return in the near future.

Room Tip: The Marrick wants some beating

We stayed at the Burgoyne for one night on June 22nd to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our room immediately.

We stayed in Thwaite which is a beautiful room with a view over the village green and the dale beyond. It has a window seat which was a wondeful spot to sit and watch the world go by. It has a private bathroom but it is across the corridor. The hotel does provide robes and slippers so nipping across to the bathroom wasn't a big deal to us.

We were blessed with the weather and we sat out in the sun and enjoyed drinks in the garden.

Dinner was beautiful, I would recommend you eat there if you can. All the staff and the owners were warm welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay a happy one.
The service was first rate.
As dog lovers we also loved Belle and Lola the black labradors who came out and sat with us for a while in the garden.

It was a special weekend and we will return.

We stayed at this beautiful hotel for two nights and enjoyed fabulous service. From our arrival to departure we were well looked after. Gorgeous four poster room with stunning views - everything was wonderful including plentiful breakfast and delicious dinner - we dined in style and we're treated with real excellence by the professional and welcoming staff including very personal service - they even gave us an anniversary card! Can't fault - if you have a special occasion we would recommend this beautiful hotel in one of the most stunningly scenic places we have ever visited.

Room Tip: All rooms have stunning views but we went for the elegantly romantic four poster room - The Marrick

This is one of the friendliest and most comfortable places to stay. Our first visit to the area and we will definitely return. We found Reeth a beautiful village and a good base to stay for visiting other places. The Hotel is full of character, our room at the front had a lovely view all over the village green and the distant hills. The Evening meals are fantastic, a four course meal including some of the best soup ever, so make sure you are hungry. Breakfast as much or as little as you like, with large bowl of fresh fruit. I could not fault this place and it is beautifully kept. The owners and staff are most welcoming. Really recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: We stayed in Redmire a lovely room at the front.

The Burgoyne stands at the head of the village green in the picture-postcard village of Reeth. It is a gorgeous building with bags of character. I stayed in the 'Keld' room which overlooks the village green and has a bay window with a seat built into it. Just amazing for sitting and watching life go by in the village.

The hotel has two lounges downstairs and the dining room is absolutely stunning. There was an excellent selection at breakfast.

The staff are friendly and really easy to talk to.

I stayed at a lot of outstanding hotels on the Coast to Coast and they were all deserved of their 5 out of 5, but I would give the Burgoyne 6 out of 5 if I could, just because it really is impressive.

I stayed here on the night of the 26th May on the Keld to Reeth section of the Coast to Coast walk. I really did wish that I could have been staying here longer, it truly is a special place and a one night stay doesn't feel like you are doing it justice!!

Room Tip: Splash out on a room at the front of the hotel, overlooking the green!

My wife and I spent a two nights dinner, bed and breakfast early last month. It proved a wonderful experience with a delightful room, marvellous food, caring staff and set in the glory of Swaledale. Highly commended.

Room Tip: Ask for the Gunnerside room, lovely views from this room.

Everything about this lovely georgian property exudes luxury and excellence. Immaculate attention to detail and spotlessly clean. Services levels excellent. The staff cannot do enough for you. The food was also fantastic. The only minor negatives were 1, the bathrooms although spotless could probably do with updating. Having said that because it is an old property ,it gets away with it. 2, there is only one sitting at dinner which is 7.30pm and breakfast is only served 8.30 to 9.30 am. It is a little restrictive however I would return and stay there again. We both thought the stay was a 9/10 which equates to 4.5 stars .... Since I can only pick 4 or 5 stars on Tripadvisor, I feel it's unfair to downgrade to 4 therefore I have chosen to mark it 5 star!!

Room Tip: All the rooms can be viewed on their internet site. Pictures or virtual tour.
