Very busy beachfront restaurant. Food ok and ambiance good but the service is a bit lacking. They are a bit industrial and are more expensive than others in the same area

The lunchtime special menu here really is fantastic. €17 for 3 courses with bread and wine. Such great food. You understandably can't get it in the high season but even then the a la carte is certainly worth going for.

The views are some of the best in the Med and the prices, whilst on the dear side for Calella, are certainly a lot lower than you'd pay in France for a similar view.

And no, the waiters don't think they are doing you a favour, they're really, really nice.

This is the best place to eat in Calella.
I do try to visit Calella a couple of times a year with my family and we will always choose to dine here.
The food is gorgeous whether you are having a big dinner or just some tapas to share.
The fantastic setting adds to the experience, you cannot beat the location.
The waiters are always so friendly and welcoming it makes the place special.
If you like pasta, definitely order the Spaghetti Tramauntana.

We visited Costa Brava and ate here - it was good / average. They had a fixed price menu that came with Salad, lunch entree of fresh fish and dessert. Reasonable priced. The view is spectacular. The service was fine.

This is not the first time and it won't be the last. As I said in another of my critics, this is The Place in Calella de Palafrugell, either for a snack or tapas o for a full lunch or dinner at meal times (teas, beers and refreshments in between).
We have tried everything there, rice and (really fresh) fish dishes are super, they have not deceived us so far. This time we had great Jamon Serrano and fried fish with very cold Catalan Cava.
It is really great to sit at a table by the beach with the fishing boats at sight and, at night, the tables under the archade are extremely romantic too. One cannot miss the typical "cremat" in Calella when it is already dark, or at midnight with the moonlight. This is a combination of black Rhum and coffee with sugar, cinnamon and lemon. When the Rhum is burning, it creates a magical atmosphere you cannot miss since it dates back to old times and old fishermen, I'm sure you'll be reborn after the first sip. We happened to met Marc this time, the owner's son, and he told us the story about it. Thank you for the nice conversation!
