“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2009

My fiancé and I stayed at Hotel Sant Roc while on our honeymoon. We were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the hotel and the knowledgeable staff.

The hotel itself if situated on a bluff overlooking Calella de Palafrugell. A nice, well marked footpath runs between the hotel and the Mediterranean, allowing easy access to the town and points north and south. Our room had two balconies with breathtaking views of both the Mediterranean and Calella de Palafrugell. The room was small relative to hotels in the US, but it was very clean and comfortable. It would have been nice to have a small refrigerator/mini bar, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

We thought the half board option offered great value. The breakfast included a light buffet of cereals, breads, and thinly sliced meats served with coffee and juice. The hotel offers one menu, which changes daily, for both lunch and dinner. It consists of an appetizer, main course, and dessert. It offers a nice variety of seafood and meats. A nice bottle of wine costs around 10 euros on the low end. The portions were somewhat smaller relative to the US, but nevertheless, we left each meal satisfied.

The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They provided us with maps, points of interest, and helped us rent a scooter from a company in Palafrugell. Most spoke very good English.

Overall, we had an excellent experience and look forward to returning as soon as possible!

Lovely hotel with the great location! The view of the Calella de Palafrugell is simply beautiful. We enjoyed having our breakfasts in the sea-view garden surrounded by the pine trees. And if you're travelling with children this is a perfect place for you.

We visited this hotel for the second time in June 2008. Nearly everything about the hotel is perfect. We had a sea view on both visits and the view is well worth the little extra. The staff are fantastic, the rooms really nice, and the area is gorgeous - a few little resorts and fishing villages but no concrete jungles of hotels. Our only quibble was the food - to get a sea view you have to take half board or upgrade to their more expensive restaurant. The food wasn't awful but the half board dinner was closer to a package holiday standard than the boutique hotel quality that everything else reached. The restaurant food was better but not special enough to want to eat there every night. Best option is to take the half board for lunch - which is fine and eat out at night. We hope to go back often .

This was our second visit to the lovely family run hotel. (This first as part of a walking holiday in April 2007). Both visits have been wonderful experiences.

I agree its worth booking a room with a sea view to be able to hear the sea crashing against the rocks at night is magical. The food is excellent even in the bog standard resteraunt and the staff cannot do enough brilliant..

Calella is a beautiful little town largely car free. There are plently od local resteraunts if you want to do B & B. Llafranc is worth the walk if you want a better beach.

Lovely area lovely hotel hope to go back...........

Stayed in Sant Roc for 3 nights last June and was upgraded to Sea view with balcony. Great hotel, location and staff. Sorry that we could not stay longer but will hopefully go back in the very near future.

My husband and I, both retired, spent 5 nights at the Hotel Sant Roc in Calella de Palafrugell in mid October. The weather was glorious and we were able to swim on two occasions. However, the weather turned chillier towards the end of our stay although the sun shone brilliantly. We were delighted with the hotel and had an excellent break. The hotel was immaculate, no one would think it was coming up towards the end of their season. The room was spotless, comfortable and extremely quiet. The staff in every area were really friendly and helpful. We just could not fault them. We were on half board and the food was very enjoyable in wonderful surroundings. The choice was extensive for every course in the evening. We had breakfast outside each morning on the superb terrace We so enjoyed walking from the hotel around the excellent coastal paths to the Botanic Gardens at Cap Roig and also in the other direction to Llafranc. The scenery everywhere was spectacular and in this day and age it was wonderful that the whole area was so unspoilt without the concrete high rise blocks. We loved looking down on the little town of Calella de Palafrugell at night. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and cannot wait to visit the hotel again.

This area of the Costa Brava is fabulous in May, when we were there, and we spent 3 nights at Hotel Sant Roc (B&B). The best thing about this hotel is the location which is fantastic, right beside great restaurants in Calella and a really pleasant walk along the coast to Llafranc or the Botanic gardens in the other direction. Do not eat at the hotel, as the restaurants in Calella are pretty good.
Our room had a small balcony with a sea view, but the balcony was really not very private, I noticed that when the guests in the neighbouring room were out on their balcony they could look straight into our room!
However, the main reason why I would not stay there again was the noise. I could hear everyone in the whole hotel taking a shower. There is absolutely no possibility of having a lie in. I could also hear footsteps from neighbouring rooms. If you work all week and would like some peace and quiet for a bit of a lie in on holiday, this is not the hotel for you. If you have already booked this hotel, then pack your ear plugs! It is really important to me to have quiet in the mornings on holiday and for this reason, I would not stay in Hotel Sant Roc again.
