“Cliff View, Sandsend”

Beautifully placed in Sandsend, with fine sea view and a wonderful, warm welcome from hostess Judy. Breakfast was delicious, and no effort was too great for Judy. We had a 3-day break in Sandsend, and wish we'd discovered it earlier.

Room Tip: Wonderful sea-view.

We have just spent a two night break at this lovely accommodation. We were lucky to have the Sea View room with a fabulous view of the beach. Other half claims the Yorkshire breakfast to be one of the best he has ever eaten, praise indeed as he is a bit of an expert. Judy the proprietor is very friendly and can't do enough, nothing is any trouble. Sandsend is a lovely picturesque village complete with ducks and goats, and about 3 miles from Whitby which is a lovely walk along the beach. And with perfect weather a great time was had by us both.

Cliff View is a lovely intimate and friendly B&B. The Ness View room was a perfect place to relax and had amazing views over the bay. Judy could not have been more helpful from the minute we arrived. Great traditional breakfasts and delicious homemade biscuits and cakes on arrival. Cliff view is the perfect location to recharge your batteries. We will definitely be making a return visit.

If there was a competition to find the most accommodating hostess, Judy would win it with flying colours! Great little place to stay on the East coast close to Whitby. Central to some nice little coastline villages and beaches such as Sandsend, Staithes and Saltburn.

Room Tip: Really enjoyed our stay. Judy provides a mattress cover for those who like a soft mattress.

We stayed at this little treasure of a B&B a couple of weeks ago and couldn't have found anywhere better! It was perfect and Judy was so kind and accommodating that we felt immediately at home and relaxed. Our room (Sea View on the front) was lovely and had amazing views over the bay of Sandsend. My parents room (Meadow View) was a lovely quiet twin room with a view over the hills and beyond at the back of the house and both were absolutely spotlessly clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept well except for the sunrise which woke me at 3.30 am - but it was a stunning view to wake up to so I wasn't complaining!
The breakfasts were delicious and prepared just how we asked for. None of us could manage a full Yorkshire breakfast (portion sizes are quite large up there!) but there were plenty of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and toast to keep you topped up till lunchtime. Judy couldn't do enough for us - i mentioned it was my Dad's 90th birthday when i booked and that also my Mum was gluten free, so she went to a lot of effort and made us a gluten free birthday cake which we ate in the sunny garden as soon as we arrived with a very welcome pot of tea! She also went out of her way to try to remove a stain on my white trousers which had just appeared from a leaked bottle in my suitcase (thankfully disappeared now). She even arranged for perfect weather which i couldn't believe - I've only ever been to Whitby when it was wild and windy!
Sandsend is a lovely quiet village but very picturesque, which makes it ideal to stay there rather than in Whitby if you like the tranquil life. But Whitby is only a mile or so up the road so it's a perfect location and is the best of both worlds. There is a great pub called The Hart just down the road if you want an evening meal but there's also a two AA star restaurant called The Eskrick next door if you fancy something posher. There are also a couple of great little cafes - I'd recommend Wit's End if you like quirky!I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Cliff View again or recommend it to other travellers and I hope we can return one day.

Room Tip: There is another double room with a sea view and small balcony which would be an idyllic place to si...

My wife and I have just spent a lovely weekend at Cliff View. The owner Judy could not do enough for us, she made our stay very special. It was like a home from home experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a wonderful view of the bay. The food provided was wholesome and home made. The little touches, such as home made preserves and cakes, made us feel very special indeed. We will certainly return to this idyllic little place.
