Totally agree with the below review. Food, service, hospitality... all superb. The rooms are indeed compact, but due to their excellent layout this is in no way an issue. Theres an extensive after dinner drinks menu of note as well :)

just spent 2 nights at the Estbek House with friends,and we all had a very enjoyable time.David and Tim run an excellent establishment with the rooms ,although slightly small,having all that you need and being very well laid out.The overall hospitality is superb,nothing being too much trouble,and david has really good knowledge of the local area.The best thing however was the food,the menu options were good and varied the food excellently cooked and presented,and tjhe wine choice was very interesting with lots of Southern hemispere wines not generally seen at other places.Overall an extremely enjoyable 2 night stay

We chose the Estbek having read the great reviews on here and recommendations from friends and family who had a great dining experience here as we did last night for our daughters birthday. The staff were very obliging and they bent over backwards to accommodate us and help make this family gathering a truly memorable one. And the food,well,I don't think I've ever tasted anything so delicious before! Cooked to perfection and the lemon meringue pie was perfection in a kilner jar!! I can't recommend this jewel highly enough and an excellent place to go for that special occasion.

We stayed at Estbek House on a beautiful summer evening and enjoyed the whole experience. We had a top floor room which was small but perfectly formed, under the eaves and with a very large and comfortable bed. The welcome was warm, and the service throughout our stay was just as we like it: friendly but unstuffy. Dinner was a delight, with fantastic wine and three great courses. The dining room was well run, with staff able to be attentive without being over-powering. Breakfast was top notch, using local ingredients. An excellent place for a special treat or simply to relax from the daily grind. Serious food, majoring on fish, and a huge selection of wine. All round a superb experience.

Room Tip: We had "Nora" which was a top floor room. The large number of stairs may not suit everyone...

We very often go away for an overnight stay with our friends.
This has got to be one of the best meals we have eaten in this country. The food tasted very extremely fresh, the quality was great, a good selection new world wines and the price was well pitched. All the staff were friendly and well trained. It was a lovely place to stay. The bedrooms were a bit of a trek up some stairs, but as we're reasonably healthy, that wasn't an issue. The rooms are compact, but with nice touches.
We felt that the cost of the food was good value, but the accommodation was maybe a bit overpriced. If ever I was to go back over to Yorkshire, I would definitely eat there again.

Room Tip: A couple of things really, firstly, one of our party had a mobility problem and the two sets of stai...

We felt everything Estbek offered was so over priced that we came away feeling ripped off. Our room was small and quite cramped, there was an uninspiring view across a pub forecourt to a little sliver of sea and we were left to haul our cases up two flights of stairs. The bed wasn't especially comfortable and the bathroom pokey - all this for £150 a night ! We had two meals in the restaurant ( otherwise the room would have been £190 a night) , and although the food was fine it wasn't anything to write home about, we've eaten just as good and better all over the world and been charged much less for the pleasure. A small glass of sparkling cost £8 - it made Norway look cheap. The final straw (while paying the very substantial bill) was to be told by one of the owners he had just bought himself a sports car, described as just perfect for running to town in. He told us this was his second car - we had noticed the top of the range Landrover in the car park when we arrived and were lugging our cases past it.

Room Tip: Don't bother - go to a five star hotel instead it'll probably be cheaper and you'll get...

Dear doritdesigns;

Firstly we would like to thank you for your feedback but we are concrened that you did not enjoy your stay with us, we have over the years recived many compliments from guests on our rooms & the local produce we served in the resturant (which has been graded as two rossette standard by the AA) but we can only appologies that it was not to your likeing & again sorry you felt you were left with the bags yourself, we do always try to offer assistance.

We also wanted to clarify that the sparkling glass size you refer to was a 175ml glass size, priced at £8.70, we do serve 125ml at £6.70 & both are always offered by our team, we have recently introduced a larger glass size due to many requests to do so, and feel it offers good value, if we were to multiyply the smaller glass size up as many places would it would be £9.38.

I (David) am also most sorry you took offence that I have purchased a second hand sports car, the only reason I mentinoned it was because you had parked your Porche next to it and commented as I helped you with your bags, what a nice car yours was & jokeinly commented I would love one myself, the Land Rover which was infact a Range Rover Sport was another guests. So, so sorry you have taken offence.

David & Tim
