“Great Holiday”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2014

Having read all reviews which most were bad was quite worried about going but not sure where bad reviewers stayed we loved it, staff very friendly and helpful lovely maid who always had a smile and a good morning great barman Nico food was fine plenty of choice beach just stone throw away is rocky but not impossible to sit on using hotels sun loungers drinks on tap which the hotel lets you take to the beach ideal location to walk into Roda and Acharavi both nice to walk round, will return to Roda hopefully to Garden Village if we get good deal, if going try the Grill restraunt just up the road lovely meals not expensive and Barden towards Acharavi do lovely meals too.

Room Tip: we stayed in 410 which was quiet and comfortable room had air con no extra charge

We have just returned from two weeks at this hotel. After reading the reviews we weren't to sure what to expect. This was our first all inclusive holiday and we weren't disappointed. We only ate breakfast and the evening meal since there was plenty to eat we weren't hungry at midday. Im a fussy eater and always found something to eat.
The pool and surrounding areas were clean. The pool is very deep! Sunbeds went quickly around the pool. However for €2 per person you could hire sunbeds for the beach which is just across the road. The beach is pebbly and so is the first 3metres or so in the sea...but the supermarkets all sell water shoes for a reasonable price.
The bar is manned throughout the day if you want a beer, cocktail etc.. but there is self service soft drinks, coffee and ice cream.
The rooms are typically Greek. The room was cleaned every day (bar a sunday). The beds are comfortable although the pillow was flat as a pancake!
We ate out twice whilst there and both meals were lovely! Excellent choice of tavernas both in Roda and Achavari. We also went out most nights and enjoyed going to Crusoes in Roda...nice cocktails and beer! Quizzes every night. Alex the owner is very friendly and welcoming as are the two girls Jamie and Helen who work there.
Overall an excellent hotel in a lovely location. Would return to this hotel again!

Visited last week in July for 2 weeks, on arrival the room was clean but very small, tiny bath with hand held shower & very small balcony with 2 chairs & a table over-looking the gardens.
The Hotel was OK & food in the restaurant average but kept warm on the buffet stands, definite lack of fruit throughout our stay.
This part of Roda has a pebble beach (require shoes to enter sea) & I didn't expect to pay 2 euro a day to drag a sunbed from the pool bar especially when it's only 5 euro for 2 beds & brolley on the sandy beach in the center of the resort.
The sunbeds around the pool are taken very early & are very close together, one half getting the morning sun, the other the afternoon sun. During our 2nd week it became increasingly difficult to reserve a beach shade & get sunbeds, queuing is required as the sunbeds are locked up & you pay at the pool bar which opens at 10am, the only good thing about staying around the hotel was the self service soft drinks from the pool bar when the drinks dispenser worked.
Roda still is a lovely small resort but a lot of places had closed down since our last visit 10years ago.
We hired a beach buggy for one day 45 euros & explored, which was great apart from running out of petrol, but we did see some fantastic coastal vistas.
We had a relaxing stay spoiled by the influx of too many guests, I feel the hotel struggled to accommodate that many & the queuing for meals, drinks & sunbeds are the reasons for this.
All inclusive drinks were usually fine but the plastic throw away glasses all day & night made it look cheap.
I think this hotel was exclusively German once but opened up for other nationalities because of the recession.
On a good note Jet2.com brilliant.

Just returned from a 2 week holiday in roda garden village ..... i have to say i was very happy with this hotel as a cheap and cheerful place to be....weather was amazing met lovely people kids had a blast in the very deep but clean pool....food was nice no one could starve there how ever a little less salt could be used and by week two the oil consumption went higher most things were swimming in it but on a whole food was good only one happy waiter tho christos was lovely always wanted a chat..........i was very disapointed one night we retured back late from a trip 9pm my husband asked the staff if we could get a small plate of food for the children as they hadnt eaten since lunch, we could see the food was still out as evening dinner had just ended the receptionist refused point blank NO!!!! Only to watch the staff sit down and tuck into there food my children went to bed hungry as this hotel does not offer 24hr food service ..... i also found it odd the all inclusive drinks finish at 11pm????? This is a disgrace we spent a fortune on extra drinks and food......i only have a feww more things to pull apart like the cleaning service was terrible in 2 weeks our maid never changed our bed sheets and only changed the towels 3times we had to go to reception for loo rolls and the sink bath and tiolet didnt ever get touched:(.......then to top it off we were going to get charged €6 as we got mud on the towel and it wouldnt come off only for one of the cleaners to yell at my husband saying she was going to hold his bag if he didnt pay.......i cant say i didnt have a nice time here we did we made lots of happy memories i just would never return the hotel need to really look at there all inclusive plan and put on some decent evening entertainment poor mo (hubba) tries but its just not there we won a quiz our prize was a cocktail wait for it !!!!! From the all inclusive cocktail list so really i already paid for my prize !!!!!!.......i only thought 4 members of staff had manners the rest had no people skills so just a few niggly things to watch out for if u want a no frills cheap and cheerful holiday this is the place to be.....

There were 11 in our family ages ranging from 6 - 52 - After reading some of the reviews on here, and arriving at around midnight, we settled into our room, which was clean and spacious. In the morning we went down to breakfast with a little trepidation but we were pleasantly surprised, bacon, fried eggs, beans, pancakes, cake?, omelettes, were all there, continental breakfast of cheese, and cooked meats, salami's, Fresh bread cut for toasting, butter or margarine. I found the fruit juices were very watery but I don't think they had been watered down, I bought some from the hotel shop in a carton and that was the same. The lunches and dinners were also great, Salads galore, They had the best 'Beef Stew' Pastitstada, ever, Calimari [ which was cooked better than in a restaurant we went to one evening ], fish was on the menu daily as were chips, rice, desserts were lovely too, the staff were all very helpful, one receptionist in particular helped us considerably, LINA - the man in charge of entertainment, Mehmet, or hubba hubba man, was funny and entertaining, The pool for me was the let down, as in no one could touch the bottom of it unless they were under the water, there is a baby bit, same pool, but behind a safety metal fence.. Yes towels are only allowed on sunbeds at 9am unless you sit on them beforehand until 9am and then you can leave them. The pool bar is open when it isn't mealtimes and you can get free ice cream at these times too. For a lot of people, my family included they were disappointed that free drinks stopped at 11pm and after that time drinks had to be bought, someone in my family hired a quad, and everyone had great fun with it, hubby and me hired a 250cc Intruder just for a day and went around the coast, to Kassiopi, which was beautiful, with lots of little coves, and blue seas, we visited Aqualand, which is a must for kids, cost us 27euros from one of the trip places in Roda, think we should have gone to another one, that picked up from the hotel, this one didn't! Roda Park on a Wednesday evening is a must - its Greek NIght and they give a fantastic show, and everyone gets to throw 'plates', it was my sons 18th and they made it very memorable and made us feel very welcome indeed, We hired boats and took them to the caves at Sidari, my son and son in law jumped from the cliffs, [heart in mouth moment] , and survived, haha, . Everyone very friendly, Mozzies a big problem for some of our party me and hubby got a few bites in the beginning, but not many but one of my daughters got about 8 bites on the sole of her foot, towards the end of the holiday and her foot was very swollen, she had to get antibiotics, and take time off work when we returned home.......but we all loved it in Roda, and we would most certainly return one day - so anyone who are going for the first time, just to Roda or the Roda Garden Village as well - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did...........it was a little piece of heaven..............

Myself and my 2 teenage daughters went to Roda Garden from the 4th July to the 18th expecting the worst after reading previous reviews. Having never been all inclusive before this was a new experience, Arriving late at night, we were greeted by a nice receptionist who gave us a sandwich and orange juice have to say pretty rank but the gesture was sincere, We were escorted to our room which was reasonably spacious, immaculately clean as the maids came every day with beautiful views of the gardens. The pool was also kept very clean and tidy with maids cleaning it twice a day. Breakfast was between 8 and 10 am and we went down on the first day to get sunbeds at 9 where it immediately became apparent there was a shortage! Thankfully we managed to find 3 sunbeds which we had to get up very early to secure which after a late night at the bar wasn't pleasant. The food was average to good, a typical 3 star service. Breakfast had the best choice of the day with something for everyone like a full cooked english, a basic continental or pancakes and other sweet treats. I always take my own tea bags and its a must. Lunch was also good with a great salad bar with the worlds best Tadziki, fish, meat pizza ect. Dinner was more traditional greek food with some days having options such as moussaka, cuttlefish, calamari. There were chips everyday so I could safely say you wouldn't go hungry. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly whether they be in the restaurant, bar or reception. Having the misfortune of needing to visit the doctor during my stay I found the receptionists very helpful during this issue. The entertainment provided by 'Momo?' Yes it was dated, it was cheesey but it was great and he was fabulous. Water aerobics every day was a highlight whether we were participating or laughing at those who took part. Multiculteral group of guests staying were all very friendly bar a couple. (Avoid exotic lizards/banana joe) We made great friends throughout our stay who we stayed up late until the early hours of the morning at the bar with thanks to the kind bartender who kept the bar open despite not being payed. We explored Roda which was about 10 minutes down the road with great little bars, beach and shops. Achiaravi was about 30 minutes away and we highly recommend visiting the olive wood shop on the way there. Other than the sunbeds Roda Garden Village couldn't offer more from a 3 star family run hotel and we definitely recommend this place. We managed to find fun everywhere we went being in the restaurant and especially by the bar making new friends, some maybe for life. MOSQUITO ALERT! BUY ANYTHING YOU CAN TO PREVENT THEM. We had easily 80 bites from mosquitoes after the first couple of days but that was resolved as the mini market at the hotel sold a range of repellents and relief products. Personal tip, take antihistamines before you go and while you're there to relieve the symptoms. So in summary, we recommend this place to family and friends and it definitely lives up to its 3 stars. Thank you for our great holiday and despite never visiting the same place twice I can easily consider re visiting Roda garden village.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back in the 600's are gorgeous!

Like others we were a bit dubious about Roda Garden Village after reading previous reviews but don’t be! We (Couple age 27) had a great holiday (9-19th June 2014) and would certainly consider going back to the same hotel even though we prefer to go to different locations each time.

We arrived at midnight and to our delight the bar was still open! Yes all inclusive had finished at 11pm but the bar stayed open until at least 1am every night or later if people were still out drinking and at 2.50 Euro for a large beer you can’t complain! We were also met with sandwiches and orange juice at the reception upon arrival.

I’ll try to summarise how I’d like to see a review:

- Cleanliness – Rooms cleaned daily (bar Sunday? I think), hotel as a whole very clean.
- Rooms – Standard beds, wardrobe, TV, fridge, shower, bath, balcony, inclusive aircon, paid for security box (although the area is very safe and we didn’t bother).
- Food – Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choice. Lunch and Dinner we’re on and off (in our opinion) with typically 1 or 2 meats, pasta, chips, veg, salad etc generally enough to choose something you like from.
- Drink – Can’t grumble at all. Beers nice, 5 inclusive cocktails, local spirits, wine, soft drinks, hot drinks. Only thing to mention is there aren’t any diet drinks.
- Location – Perfect! Pool and bar right next to each other with the beach (cobbles) and sea literally over the road / track. Roda 10 minutes wander down by the sea with plenty of restaurants, bars and shops.
- Staff – Great! All staff were there to help with Nikos (bar man) and Medi (Entertainment) standing out. Top blokes!
- Entertainment – Periodically throughout the day for kids and adults with entertainment each evening bar Saturday (quiz, couple games etc even fire breathers / glass walkers one night). Music on throughout the day in the background of all different types (generally not loud).
- Pool – Deep! In the main pool you can’t stand up unless at the very end of the shallower end where some steps are. Didn’t bother me but others might not like it. There is also the kids section which is attached but separate by railings which is adequate. Wouldn’t say it was cold like other reviews either.
- Money – We ate out a fair bit even though we were all inclusive because we wanted to try different things… you could quite easily get 2 meals and 4 drinks for 20-25 Euros.
- Mosquitos – We personally didn’t get bit or really see any but we used jungle formulae spray and had a citronella band on the floor. We did see others who got quite a few bites but I don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as people make out on other reviews.
- Wi-Fi – Free in the reception lobby.

In general it’s a great hotel, with friendly staff and perfect location and ideal for couples or families. Don’t let the previous bad reviews put you off!

Oh and get some fruit from the fruit van that runs up and down the sea road… it’s 10x better than the stuff here in the UK!
