have just returned from the afrodite in roda and if you are aged 70 and over this is the place for you, hotel is not a 2* hotel we know not to expect much from a 2* hotel but we do expect to have helpfull staff at check-in not just to be given the key to our room and asked for our passports and thats it, i would at least like to be told what floor and a rough idea or even showen to our room, be told where to go and what time breakfast was ect. when we did find our room the door handle was nearly off the door, the room was dirty with dust and hair all over the floor, breakfast was the SAME everyday, cake, melbar toast, a bread roll, a slice of cheese, a slice of what was ment to be ham (more like spam) jam, tea or coffee and a hard boiled egg, if you like to eat this for breakfast everyday then this is the place for you, the pool area was nice and clean as was the pool, Afrodite who runs the pool area and pool bar was very nice and helpfull but this area shuts at 6pm including the bar so no sitting around the pool in the evening if thats what you like to do...... as for roda it self we found it very quite no night life as such, yes there are bar's about but not much going on in them unless you want to watch tv, i think big bens bar a few doors from the hotel was the best there yannis who owns the place was always happy and he did have some entertainment a few nights a week.. the beach is dirty (very dirty) cant say much more really. we would probably go back to corfu but not back to roda and not back to the afradite

My Husband and I stayed at Afrodite for two weeks commencing 12th September and had a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had booked a sea view room but moved to a pool view as sea view did not get the sun, and as i have mobility problems spend quite a lot of time on the balcony. The receptionist was more than happy to move us with out any problems and had a lovely spacious room with balcony with sun nearly all day. Food at the snack Bar was really good, as was the restaurant. Roda is a lovly little resort nice and flat. We have already booked again for next year to the Afrodite. Look forward to seeing you all again, and Thank you.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are lovely, and views are fantastic, but pool views get the sun,and we changed from sea...

We arrived back yesterday after a lovely much needed week at the Afrodite and very happy with this lovely family run hotel with everything we wanted close by and could have been so happy to stay for few more days, far more worthy of more than 2 stars, we would be returning

Second time to afrodite, 2 OAPs daughter and her son (7) all enjoyed it again, swimming pool and all staff vey friendly, nice and relaxing, shame about one particular restaurant in Roda this year, Smileys was very rude, poor food we had to send to meals back and he wanted us to pay in full several people complained so do not go to smileys, hotel restaurant very good and friendly shame they did not have greek dancing this year. We had a fridge this year which helps to cut down on shopping. Will go again to hotel. charlieW

Room Tip: Book a sea view it is worth the extra just to sit and watch the world go by.

We stayed at the Afrodite for a week 2nd Sep - 9th Sep.

We already knew what to expect from the area, as we have become regular visitors to Roda, however this was our first time at the Afrodite.

Having read the reviews, we took a pair of earplugs each just in case, however despite being only two doors away from the fun bar (Big Bens) we didn't need them once, not day (and that was with the balcony doors open), and not night either, and I am a light sleeper.

The rooms at the Afrodite were a good size, they were basic (no tv/radio) but more than adequate for what we required. Whats more the bathroom had both a bath and shower in (very unusual in Greek Hotels).

We had a seaview, and that for us was the making of this hotel.

Rooms were cleaned daily, even on a Sunday much to our surprise. Just ensure you are awake by 9:30 as that is when the maids start their rounds.

Breakfast is served 9:00-10:30, but can be taken early if you are going on a trip/on your last day. Breakfast was ample, if not a bit too much - you get a large roll, french toast, boiled egg, butter, jams, and madeira cake, all on one plate, accompanied with orange juice and tea/coffeee. The food was good, but we did skip breakfast a couple of times (which is unusual for us) purely because we felt over faced - a buffet breakfast may of been a better option, and result in less food waste.

Hotel guests get 10% discount at the pool bar, and 15% at the restaurant.

The swimming pool at the hotel was clean, and nice and warm. There was a dedicated childrens pool, and a small jacuzzi.

Cost of safe for a week was 10euro, and 2 weeks 15euro; fridge for a week was 15 euro (Worth it for us we like to buy a few cans in to make shandy for on the balcony-if doing this the supermarkets on the beach road (turn left as you leave hotel, and left again) tend to be cheaper than the hotels own); air con was 35 euro (usually in Sep you wouldnt need this, but this Sep was unusually warm and dry - so much so that even the mosquitos and wasps seemed to go into hiding).

The hotel offers B&B and H&B, personally we would only ever go B&B or SC in Roda as there are so many nice places to eat - we visited our old favourites Roda Park, Newport, and Smileys, aswell as trying out Roxannes, Thallasea (where they do great mezes at 10-12 euro each including a glass of wine/beer, we had one and it was the only night we couldn't manage a starter/desert to go with it!) and Esterellas (where they do lovely stone baked pizzas). For drinks we visited Nemos (nice in the day for an ice-chocolate, or frappe, godo bouncy castle for the kids) Skounas, (great for people watching both in the day, and night), Big Bens (good range of cocktails starting at 3euro 50 each), and Drunken Sailor (often open until 5am or later, but the glass doors ensure all the noise is kept inside).

We liked this hotel, and although it isn't our favourite Greek Hotel, we would return for the Seaview Rooms.

This is only a 2 star hotel but it was miles better than the 3 star hotel I stayed in last year in Kos. It has a really nice pool which was spotlessly clean, beds and umbrellas were free and if you hadn't packed anything to read there were loads of books to loan. Standard breakfast was a newly baked large roll, cheese/ham/jam, boiled egg, toast and cake - all served at table no queuing. Rooms very clean, sheets and towels changed regularly by excellent cleaning staff. Staff were really friendly and helpful. If you want a chilled out holiday this hotel and Roda will not disappoint.

Room Tip: If there are two of you and you can afford it pay for family room which is much bigger. Corner rooms...

We have just returned from the Afrodite Hotel in Roda after spending two wonderfull weeks. The staff could not do enough for us and were allways cheerful and helpfull. The rooms cleaned every day, the pool was lovely and the surround was spotless. Thanks to the attention we received from Nikos [who could charm the cherry's off a cherry tree!] and Sperio and Afrodite we will certainley be heading back again. Try the lovely icecreams especially 'Strewberry cheescake' it is to die for. The tavernas in Roda are excellant and a special place for us was SKOUNA'S where most days if not going out we had lunch. We last visited Roda in 1987 first time was 1981 so we did expect to see a lot of changes and the one place we hoped would still be there was the old house by the seaside, we were not to be dissapointed it was still there and still in the same family 'THE FRIENDLY PLACE' or the 'OLD PLACE' we called it. Other taverners to try is the NEW PORT oppersite the beach and NIKCO'S in one of the side streets this is a family run taverna started in 1982 and Lucy and Nikco with one of there sons Andros always gave us a warm welcome.
