My friend and I stayed at the Afrodite from 30th Sept for 2 weeks , we found the hotel very comfortable, welcoming and clean. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help, very good at prediciting the weather too. If you wish for a relaxing holiday Roda is the place to be with good bars and restaurants around the village. Entertainment can be found somewhere most nights. Nicos Odysseus restaurant proved to be popular with a good meal for two and wine for just over 20 euro and of course the desert was free.
We had a pool view which enabled us to have a relaxing drink on the balcony in the sun during the afternoon.
Would we go again - yes its an idyllic, stess free place to stay

Room Tip: sea view for afternoon sunshine more shade required try a sea view

My husband and I have just returned from a week's stay in the afrodite hotel. We were impressed from start to finish. All the staff without exception were polite, friendly and helpful and the rooms spacious and clean.
We had a seaview and from the balcony witnessed some amazing thunder and lightening storms(we also enjoyed some glorious sunshine - this type of weather mix is to be expected for the second week in October).
Roda itself was at the end of its season but almost everything stayed open- what a lovely village. We tried a different bar/taverna each day/night and where never disapointed from Roda park to Pirates to Yainas's 'Big Ben' to The Dolphin- a friendly welcome was assured- the value for money was also very good with a two course meal plus wine available each night for 20- 25 euros for us both.
When we wanted to move out of Roda we enjoyed a boat trip to Corfu Town (even though weather conditions forced us back on the bus!) and were able to take a taxi into Kassiopi or Siddairi.
As I don't want to say anything negative about the hotel I won't mention the breakfasts (which we ate only twice)-aside to say I'm delighted to read an earlier review saying that they are to be improved next year!

My husband and I stayed at The Aphrodite Hotel in Roda from 30th September to 7th October. We were delighted on arrival, at 11pm, to find we could still get a hot meal, having travelled all day. Check in was smooth and the rooms were larger and better equipped than we expected for 2*. Roda itself is quiet but has a few gems such as The Skouna Beach Bar for morning coffee and late night digestifs. The sea facing rooms are a delight. They never get full sun and so keep cool. We spent many a happy hour on the balcony listening to the waves and watching the world go by. All in all one of the most relaxing holidays we've ever had.

Have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Corfu, where we stayed at the Afrodite Hotel in Roda. We were there from 23 September, returning on the 7 October 2011.
The hotel is a family run business, with very helpful and freindly staff. To give an example of this we were originally given a "double" room where the door hit the bed when open and was built into a corner but when we said that we were staying for two weeks and asked to be moved to a larger room, they found a room was available in a couple of days and even moved all our luggage while we were out so that our day was not ruined by waiting to switch rooms (problem arose because we stated that we wanted a double bed and not a twin room, these seem to be quite rare abroad).
Unlike 'colinbdj' review, we found the hotel and our room to be very clean but he was correct about the breakfast being the same everyday (this is being changed to a more varied meal next season).
Roda itself is a quiet fishing village, although there is not much fishing done there anymore, with quite a varied selection of restaurants and tavernas to be found, with a few bars having some form of entertainment on each evening but if you want discos and nightclubs then Roda is not for you.
The beach was littered with 'flotsam' from the couple of bad storms they had just prior to our arrival but this did not detract from it still being a relaxing and restful place.
My last thing would be that if you are going towards the end of the season (Sep/Oct) take a load of insect repellant and bite salves as the "mossies" are a bit of a pain at this time.
We will be going back to Corfu as it is a lovely island and we would stay in the Afrodite again.

Room Tip: Do not settle for room 28 if going as a couple or staying for more than a week.

have just returned from the afrodite in roda and if you are aged 70 and over this is the place for you, hotel is not a 2* hotel we know not to expect much from a 2* hotel but we do expect to have helpfull staff at check-in not just to be given the key to our room and asked for our passports and thats it, i would at least like to be told what floor and a rough idea or even showen to our room, be told where to go and what time breakfast was ect. when we did find our room the door handle was nearly off the door, the room was dirty with dust and hair all over the floor, breakfast was the SAME everyday, cake, melbar toast, a bread roll, a slice of cheese, a slice of what was ment to be ham (more like spam) jam, tea or coffee and a hard boiled egg, if you like to eat this for breakfast everyday then this is the place for you, the pool area was nice and clean as was the pool, Afrodite who runs the pool area and pool bar was very nice and helpfull but this area shuts at 6pm including the bar so no sitting around the pool in the evening if thats what you like to do...... as for roda it self we found it very quite no night life as such, yes there are bar's about but not much going on in them unless you want to watch tv, i think big bens bar a few doors from the hotel was the best there yannis who owns the place was always happy and he did have some entertainment a few nights a week.. the beach is dirty (very dirty) cant say much more really. we would probably go back to corfu but not back to roda and not back to the afradite

My Husband and I stayed at Afrodite for two weeks commencing 12th September and had a lovely time. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We had booked a sea view room but moved to a pool view as sea view did not get the sun, and as i have mobility problems spend quite a lot of time on the balcony. The receptionist was more than happy to move us with out any problems and had a lovely spacious room with balcony with sun nearly all day. Food at the snack Bar was really good, as was the restaurant. Roda is a lovly little resort nice and flat. We have already booked again for next year to the Afrodite. Look forward to seeing you all again, and Thank you.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are lovely, and views are fantastic, but pool views get the sun,and we changed from sea...

We arrived back yesterday after a lovely much needed week at the Afrodite and very happy with this lovely family run hotel with everything we wanted close by and could have been so happy to stay for few more days, far more worthy of more than 2 stars, we would be returning
