“First time for us”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2013

We have just got back from a week at the Aphrodite in Roda, it was our first visit but most of the other guests all knew one another as were regulars and went back every year, most ate, drank and slept at the hotel which does have a lot to offer but so does the rest of Roda which is a beautiful little place with lots of Tavernas and watering holes, some are just blistful overlooking the sea, so a shame to sit around the hotel all night. A place to visit is Crusoes bar, they are so friendly and have good sounds and a free quiz most nights, they make you feel really welcome and will have a laugh with you.Top bar.

The hotel is just an average 2* hotel, our towels got changed the once and I think the maid didnt know what bleach was as she never entered our bathroom to clean it, she did however make the bed every day and swept the floor but that was it.

The Hotel was full of elderley couples so not for the young and lively, in fact I think we might have been the youngest couple there, so dont expect loud music of any kind, and usually by 12.30 the hotel is quiet and everyone was in bed.

Would definately go for a Sea View, the views are breath taking although you do hear the road in the morning so no lie ins.

All in all we had a great time in Roda the people are friendly and the Staff at the Hotel are very efficient, polite and go out of there way to make you feel like part of the family, even though the breakfast is very much samey.

Room Tip: Choose a Sea View, they are also the coolest

Beautiful hotel, stayed here in 2007 and so pleased when we back this year that it was still the same, perfect location on the beach, staff are very friendly and hotel is very clean, only down side is they do not hire out kettles so if you are an early riser and like to sit on your balcony having a cuppa, make sure you take a travel kettle, there is a fridge in your room which will cost you 15 euro to have it on for the week, so you can keep your drinks milk etc nice and cold, the afroditi snack bar does excellent food and the gyros and salads are beautiful. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool with comfortable padded covers on them and plenty of umbrellas if you want to shade, would recommend booking a room with sea view as the view is lovely and the sound of the sea is very relaxing, make sure you take strong mosquito repellent as lots of them around. i plugged in a jungle formula liquid repellent in the room and didnt get any visitors, i also used jungle formula maximum strength repellent and didnt get bitten once, lots of others guests complaining about the mosquitos, but its not the hotels fault, just be prepared. would not recomend roda as a family holiday as not alot for children but perfect for couples or single adults.

Room Tip: second floor sea view

This was our 5th stay at this hotel since 2004, and every time there have been improvements. The breakfast consists on a large fresh roll, meat, cheese, a boiled egg, jam and cake.It is the same every day but the quality is very good with a cooked breakfast available at an extra charge. There is a lovely bar with looks out to sea, this serves snacks in the day and again these are of good quality. The restaurant serves meals in the evening, 15% discount for residents and again could not be faulted. WiFi access is free, the safe is 15 euro per week and the fridge 10 euros per week.
The pool area is fairly small, but we always got a sunbed for our 12:00 - 14:00 spot of sunbathing.
Our room overlooked the sea and was well maintained as was the bathroom. Towels changed twice a week and bed linen once.
The hotel is very professionaly run by the family, and all staff try to ensure that your stay is memorable.
We would recommend this hotel, particularily to couples, we will definately return.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor, front facing.

First of all let me say the following, the staff were excellent and friendly, and the location was excellent but for me even though it's only a 2star hotel we were abit disappointed. There was a fridge, air con and a safe in the room BUT all had to be bought when arriving which to me is wrong, at least 2 of those should be in the price. The breakfast to say was very "samey" would be an understatement and I wont go through what it was as it has been highlighted on many other reviews. We went half board and to be honest I wish we hadn't as you didn't get a choice from the whole menu but 2 options only and with all the local cafes etc very close by, in hindsight that would have been better. It also has to be noted that it did seem a hotel for the more elderly person and with an obvious amount of people returning but these people will slowly dwindle and it could be this hotel needs to Upgrade to attract younger clients. As I said a pleasant hotel which could be so much better with a bit more effort

No more than ten steps from the beach. Conveniently located for all the local tavernas. Rooms cleaned daily even on a Sunday! Staff friendly and work very hard. Loved it so much we are going back this year.

Lovely Staff and people at this hotel. Breakfast not to my liking, but nothing wrong with quality and quantity. Can't get much closer to the beach without being on it. Restaurant next door reccomended good food at a good price plus a discount if you're staying at the Aphrodite. Plenty of alternative restaurants in the village(100 yds away). Pretty quiet when we were there at the end of Sept but that was not too much of a problem. Made welcome everywhere we went,I know people want your custom but everyone seemed genuine. Very relaxing and safe village.

Just home from a late week in Roda. The hotel was very clean, we even had the choice of a bath or shower in the sea view room as there was both, almost unheard of in Greek islands. The breakfast was samey but more than adequate and tasty. All the staff were very friendly, could not do enough for you! We ate at the hotel pool bar most lunchtimes and the food was very fresh and lovely. Will definitely return hopefully next year!

Room Tip: Request a sea view lovely to wake up to the sound of the waves lapping the shore!
