“Family week in roda”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2012

My family of six including two six year olds enjoyed staying at the Coral hotel. Situated right by the sea, sandy beach and tavernas are only a few minutes walk away. The hotel is clean and inviting with friendly and helpful staff. The pool area was kept clean and tidy with plenty of sun beds. The pool was not to big but did it's job.The breakfast was continental which was we expected. The bar was run very well with a large beer at 2,50 euros. There is a good choice of bars and tavernas selling drink and food at good prices. We found Roda to be cheap and friendly. The Coral hotel is probably the best in Roda and is recommended. Don't be put off going to Greece prices don't seem to be going up.

From the moment we arrived and were immediately welcomed by Spiros we were impressed and we left extremely impressed. If this is a Three star hotel I don’t know why as I have been in Four star hotels a lot worse. There is almost nothing we can say to criticise them. When we were asked where we were staying, and we advised the Coral, they replied “The Best”. This place deserves to be listed as one of the best hotels on Corfu.

As it was our honeymoon, we were upgraded to a double layer room with the double bed upstairs, and the lounge downstairs, with a small balcony that provided a stunning view towards the mountains as well as a glimpse of the sea. The bathroom had a beautiful cappuccino marble tile with new stylish fittings. Big satellite TV, with air con, fridge, and a safe all available as extras for a just a few Euros (maybe Drachma by the time you go...). The cleaners were good and friendly; they clean every day apart from Sunday which was a surprise as we lost track of what day it was.

The team at the hotel are really outstanding. Dimitiros the Manager is such a credit to his parents who I understand own the place. He is always friendly and very helpful. We saw him working until 2am and then up at 9am the next day. The best bit was that he charged us 10 Euro for an extra (part) night as the Thomas Cook collection was in the middle of the night, and TC expected us to wait all day and into the night for the pick up. Spiros is the outstanding member of staff, as he was always smiling a welcome every day we got back, and was so helpful. Tessos (Tom Cruise in Cocktail) at the bar is very funny and will invent cocktails for you; Spiros and Tessos are great dancers as well. ‘Nick the Greek’ is also a very friendly character and organises the evening events such as the weekly Greek night or BBQ.

The breakfast was simple but superb; my wife loved the Greek yoghurt / honey / fruit, whilst I loved the Croissants and the chocolate spread that was only served with a huge spoon! Cereals / bread + toast / cake / cheese / ham / cooked items such as egg / sausages were also available.

Everywhere such as the pool and restaurant area were always spotless. To be honest, I don’t think they could have done any better. The worst thing I can say about the place is that the butter was a bit hard at breakfast, although the margarine was perfect! The lunch / evening food is also good, as they have coach loads (literally) turning up for meals at lunchtime.

There are a couple of things we will say about the resort though. Roda beach is small to non-existent in places. This wasn’t a problem for us as the Coral was our base and we drove all over the island to beautiful beaches. The water at Roda is also a bit murky compared to most other places due to a small river nearby. Water is crystal clear elsewhere on the island. We also got lots of mosquito bites whilst on Corfu (not particularly at Roda) so take repellent.

And if anyone can report ‘Kostas horse riding’ to the animal protection police, please do so. The horses we saw had ticks, an abscess with puss dripping from its ear into is eye, they were limping on the stone tracks because they didn’t have horseshoes on, and the tack was painful to use and gave me grazes. I felt sad for the horses as they winced with pain when they stepped on stones so it spoilt any enjoyment riding them.

Room Tip: There are two buildings. The main one on the sea front, and the block at the back towards the stunni...

Just returned From Coral hotel, Roda, Corfu. There has been so much written about the hotel itself that all i shall say is, we do not norm return to the same place twice BUT if ever we returned to Corfu, without hesitation we would choose Coral Hotel, end off 11/10.This is more about the location .If ur after BOOM BOOM BOOM best try elsewhere, Roda is idyllic, so relaxing, plenty of Taverna`s to choose from and really friendly locals. The resort looks over to Albania across the sea,at the closet point its only 5mile away.We went on a day trip from the local agents in roda , [ a lovely lady called Irene ] the cost was 29Es pp plus 10Es pp for ur visa.A extra trip was available if you wish to take it up,cost a further 20Es which included a nice buffet lunch. The trip was a nice way to see Albania if nothing else, the rest was spent staggering around a forest in Butrint in temps of 32c up steep stairs and down steep hills looking at roman ruins including an amphitheatre,if you suffer from heart probs, knee probs, asthma etc it would be very advisable not to bother.Shame for the 3 old ladies on our trip who were not informed of the ruggard terrain, neither was anyone else by the way.By the time we finished i was expecting a Duke of Edinburgh award.Be warned. Later we were dropped of in town [ Sarande ] for a hour to do some shopping, before catching the ferry back to Corfu town, shame all the shops were shut, [ organising is not the best ] not to worry lol.The transfer time to Roda from the airport is 1hr, plus drop offs on the way.Even tho the brekky at the hotel is really fine, there is only so much yogurt and friut a man can take, so for prob the BEST BREKKYin Roda give BIG BEN a try on the sea front. Its run by a character called Yannis, and what a character he is.He brings Tetley tea back from Newcastle twice a year, lovely cuppa in a big mug.Spotlessly clean.3 sizes of breakfast are available.I promise you, you WILL return, the sea is facing, what a place to eat.For all you peeps who will go looking for `Maggies` don,t !! she retired earlier this year so the place is no more.It was just down from Roda Park resturant which i have to say was one of the best places we ate, the other being Roxannes which is on the front along from BIG BEN,s. At Roxannes you will no doubt be served by Michelle [ 1 of 3 blonde ladies ] she makes a great Mojito, very yum yum. Just past Roda Park is Nikos, nice place nice food, further past that is ``Sallys`` ?? run by a lovely girl from Kent. This pub serves the best pint that i found, clung to the glass all the way down, local lager starting with a letter M ? if you have tried greek beer, you will know what i mean its norm flat.Just by the taxi rank on the front there is a small bridge, look over it inland and you will see loads of turtles, may thats why the locals call if `turtle bridge` funny that. All in all, Roda is a resort to die for, its got the lot except boom boom. Give it a try. If anyone wants to ask any questions saying we have just returned, by all means drop me a line title it `Roda` to harryproud1@aol.com

Room Tip: We upgrade to a sea/pool room, these rooms run north to south so no sun. that included a safe and ai...

My wife Deirdre and i have just returned from a two week stay at the Coral Hotel,Roda and we are already planning to return as soon as possible.

From the moment we arrived at the Hotel we were met with nothing but kindness from all of the staff from the cleaners to the owners.

Dimitirios the Manager greeted us on arrival at reception, explained meal times, where the pool and bars and restaurant were and made us feel immediately at home.

We also met and spoke with the owners (his mother and father) and we found themvery pleasant and interesting to speak to .

We had a front facing sea view room which was spotlessly clean and modern with flat screen tv.fridge,kettle.and air-con all in "as new" condition.

The room also provided a wonderful view of the Roda sunsets and Albania and was cleaned on a daily basis (except Sundays) to a high standard.

The Hotel itself is modern and bright with spacious indoor and outdoor areas for both relaxing or eating.

The food in the Hotel was excellent and only slightly more expensive than the tavernas in Roda itself - but then again you expect that in a Hotel anyway.

Do try the BBQ night on Sundays and the Greek night on Thursdays - both are excellent value for money with good fresh cooked food food and excellent entertainment.

Nikos (or Nick the Greek as he calls himself !) does a fantastic job of cooking at the BBQ night and making sure everyone has as much to eat as they want.

If you find someone happier in their job i would like to meet them - He is everwhere all day and night and seems to survive happily on about 2 hours sleep a night!

Tassos in the main Hotel bar is a fantastic barman who will mix any cocktail or drink you can imagine and is always ready to have a chat with you no matter how busy he is to making sure that you are relaxed and happy.

His free shots are legendary - they arrive when you least expect them and taste great - and he always makes sure you have a "nightcap" when you finally decide to go to bed.

These two do a musical double act in the main bar some nights and it is so funny - i won't spoil it for you by telling you what it is - go and see it for yourself!

The pool area is large enough to deal with the demand for sunbeds(which are new and modern)
is big enough to swim in and never gets too crowded.

The pool bar staffed by a very nice Greek girl who deals with all the food and drink orders and brings them to you at your sunbed or at a table if you prefer.

There is a large range of reasonable priced fresh cooked snacks and food available during the day from the pool bar along with a good variety of ice creams.

Breakfast consists of cereals, cold meats, cheeses, breads, yoghurts, fruit, honey, jam, tea, coffee and fruit juices with sausages or eggs or Croissants served on alternative days and is more than ample for most peoples needs.

All in all the Coral is a welcoming family run Greek Hotel with a modern outlook and tradition values of hospitality - what more can you ask for?

Stayed at the Coral beach Hotel May 2012 , We were the first guests to arrive and were made very welcome by Nikos who carried our suitcases to our room. The room was lovely and overlooked the pool area with a balcony. It was an upgrade as we were the first arrivals. Dimitrios was so friendly and was the same everyday, joking and helping us. The breakfast was fine, the greek yogurt was superb and the staff were very helpful. We ate at the Hotel and the BBQ was lovely. The pool was cleaned everyday and there were lots of sunbeds to choose from. It was a perfect location with the Hotel dining area overlooking the beach. The bar was lovely and the cocktails were excellent. Tassos was always cheerful and loved chatting at the bar. All the staff were brilliant and made our holiday. The hotel had a lift and disabled facilities.

We hired a jeep from Value plus which was very reasonable for 9 days, costing 242 euros. We explored the north of the Island, visiting Corfu town,Paleokastritsa, Acharavi, Kassioppi and Sidari. Sunset beach was amazing and went to the top of the Pantokratoras mountain and other beautiful places. Dimitrios gave us a map and marked the best places to visit, which was useful. We would recommend this hotel and will return again. All in all, it was a fantastic holiday and so relaxing, except for the mozzies!!

Room Tip: The room overlooking the pool was lovely, room 18.

Stayed last week of opening in october 2011,had a great time even if it did rain for 3 days, nicos ,freddy and demitrios made sure they took time to talk to us,keep us topped up with specialee cocktails ,coffee,s etc.The resort is basically closing down this week so ,not a lot open but what is ,is ok .The breakfast as stated before is basic but as long as you dont walk in with 5 mins to end of serving there is something to fill you up (typical greek hotel).Should also state that every meal we ate in the evening in the resturant was really as good as anywhere else we ate,so top marks to you for that.We had a first floor room overlooking the pool area which waslovely ,then asked us if we wanted to move to front of hotel ,with sea view, even better . All in all a very good hotel with great staff ,average breakfast but excellant evening meals and service, would i go back ,yes for sure but earlier in season
