This is worth doing. First of all, there is an educational component that gives a good overview of what mining was like in early 1900s. It also speaks to the medicinal uses and salt therapy which we are just beginning to recognize in the US. But, most of all, it is an amazing experience just because of size and depth alone. The only downside is that you must walk down (and then back up) 103 steps. It’s doable for an asthmatic, but you will need to take your time.

We drove to this attraction. Small vendors selling food and souvenirs line the entrance to the salt mine. You enter a domed entrance and walk down 120 stairs to an elevator that takes you down to a level where there is an amusement park. From there another elevator takes you to a lower level where there is a lake with rowboats. This is the most amazing fete of engineering and simply amazing. The stairs are easy to handle as they are not steep. The is a Ferris wheel plus mini golf, table tennis, 10 pin bowling, a children’s playground and more. Just the sight of the place is sufficient to excite. Good for all ages.

The inside of the mines are incredible; especially with some of the otherworldly architecture that they've added in there! The air is so clean and pure, I never wanted to leave. A cool mix of history and leisure -- highly recommend! (if you get cold easily, bring a jacket!)
