We have just spent 3 really lovely nights here and were very sad to leave. Sylvie and Pierre are the most wonderful kind and hospitable hosts. Unbelieveably welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The property is beautiful and the rooms spacious and pretty, Sylvie has great taste and style. The bathrooms are modern and tasteful with great showers. Our room had a lovely little terrace perfect for sitting out in the evening and sampling all the wines we had bought! We joined our hosts one night for supper in the kitchen, Sylie prepared the most delicious meal and we had a really fun enjoyable evening. Chateau Graviere is the perfect getaway while being near to all the wonderful vineyards. We had 2 happy days borrowing the free bikes and exploring the area. We can not recommend this lovely place more highly and will definitely be going back as soon as we can.

We cannot recommend Chateau La Graviere highly enough. From the moment we arrived Sylvie made us feel welcome and the accommodation was superb! We were travelling with our two daughters and the rooms were ideal with a living area for us all to meet and walk out for a swim in the pool and just relax and let the hustle of Paris wash away. We had several meals and they were amazing!! Sylvie thank you for your wonderful attention to detail and always looking after us.
We had a fantastic time and felt very much at home. We both enjoyed your wonderful cellar and sharing meals with the other guests. We hope that we will be able to come back and visit soon. A truly wonderful experience.
Best wishes
Veronica, Graeme, Caitlyn and Sienna

My husband and I stumbled onto Chateau La Graviere by sheer luck. We were in Bordeaux coincidentally at the same time as the International Wine Expo in June 2013, and had chosen a spontaneous approach to traveling throughout France. We had a general itinerary in mind, but hadn't made any reservations for accommodations, as we wanted some flexibility to change our plans should we arrive and not like something or have the weather do something different we hadn't expected.

This approach worked out great until we got to the wine region - when we quickly realized that everything was booked up because of the Wine Expo. We had left Cauterets, France around 10am, and still were without a place to stay for the night approaching 9pm. We simply got lucky in that my husband saw the sign advertising Chateau La Graviere amongst all the other chateaus advertised, that the sign actually advertised the chateau's sleeping accommodations, that Sylvie and Pierre (the owners) were expecting another couple around the same time so their gate was open, that they spoke plenty of English, and that they opened their door when we knocked and had a spare room! Someone was looking out for us!

It was the highlight of our trip to France. Not only was the price unbelievably reasonable for what we experienced, not to mention our level of desperation at that point, but Sylvie and Pierre showed us to a 2-story suite, that overlooked their beautiful backyard, including a garden, a beautiful in-ground swimming pool, and fields of grapes. Sylvie also made us a fresh breakfast in the morning, and Pierre kept us company that night and allowed us to purchase a bottle of wine from their cellar, so we could have a night cap to sooth the nerves from a long day on the road. My husband and I went running on the charming French country back roads both mornings we stayed, and were pampered to Sylvie's homemade muffins, coffee and tea, and homemade apricot and fig jam that we will never forget! We thought we had died and gone to heaven!

Furthermore, we didn't have time the day we arrived to make reservations at any of the chateaus, and Sylvie was nice enough to recommend a few to us, called to make reservations for us, and happened to know everyone everywhere we went. We had an incredible visit, and in our one full-day there, managed to tour two chateaus, go out to lunch and dinner at another chateau and incredibly good local restaurant, as well as slip into the spa that Sylvie and Pierre provide to their guests.

We honestly never wanted to leave - what with the quiet and beautiful ambiance of their guest house, the frogs "ribbeting" harmoniously outside, the incredibly hospitable company, amazing food, and incredible wine - it was better than the experience we had hoped for. We plan on going back the next time we're in France, and my husband's sister and brother-in-law are going to France in the fall, and they are now planning on staying at Chateau La Graviere, as well.

Honestly - it made our whole trip to Europe, which we justified as our second wedding anniversary, one of the most memorable and fantastic we've had to date. Really, it doesn't get better than Chateau La Graviere - it splits the difference among all the different regions west of Bordeaux (in the Medoc) and will provide you with an enviable experience you'll keep wanting to come back for more!
