We stayed 2 nights during a 16-day Corsica trip and this was the best hotel of the holiday. We had the "Ceppo" room, which had a huge balcony with the picture-perfect view looking out over a circular valley with snow-capped mountains and a perfect round lake in the centre - like looking into a volcano caldera. The pool, Jacuzzi, small gym and restaurant/bar all have the same fantastic view (there is also a hammam, and they can arrange massages on request). Our room was by far the most stylish we saw in Corsica, elegant and modern yet with many distinctly Corsican touches. Oh, and the entire property smells like the maquis, which if you have not experienced it, is reason enough to visit the island in spring!!! They do light dinners only, with usually one "menu of the day" as well as some simple salads/charcuterie choices - we ate there once and it was fantastic. There is also a very sophisticated & excellent "fancy" restaurant, A Pasturella, in the local village (walking distance - ask for a map), which we also enjoyed. You do need a car, but Ile Rousse (resort/beach town) is just down the hill about 10 minutes, and the loop "around the valley" to these fascinating medieval hilltop villages (in varying states of commercialization/restoration) is a great way to spend a day (or easily 2), and there are hiking trails all around the region too (sadly we did not have time to try them but would like to come back and do so!). Calvi, St-Florent and Patrimonio (wine central) are all within easy day-trip distance, so one could easily be based here for a week and find plenty to do. It is a bit pricey but then so is Corsica in general, and we found this very much worthwhile. Oh, it is also family run and the proprietors are friendly and helpful, too - there is good English spoken, and a small library with guidebooks and books about local issues, daily newspapers and even a book showing the local plants. My only recommendation would be to add a guide to the birds of Corsica (we saw at least 8 species just from our balcony alone, without binoculars!) - maybe binoculars to use/borrow/rent? Otherwise it is already perfect. Oh, breakfast is not included and is expensive - it looks amazing - but they kindly provide a fridge, so if you are not one for a big morning buffet you can easily pick up a few things and do your own on the balcony. There is a coffee machine with (limited) free coffee refills. I actually prefer to have the choice rather than having to pay for a big fancy breakfast that you may not want/need every day.
