We stayed 2 nights during a 16-day Corsica trip and this was the best hotel of the holiday. We had the "Ceppo" room, which had a huge balcony with the picture-perfect view looking out over a circular valley with snow-capped mountains and a perfect round lake in the centre - like looking into a volcano caldera. The pool, Jacuzzi, small gym and restaurant/bar all have the same fantastic view (there is also a hammam, and they can arrange massages on request). Our room was by far the most stylish we saw in Corsica, elegant and modern yet with many distinctly Corsican touches. Oh, and the entire property smells like the maquis, which if you have not experienced it, is reason enough to visit the island in spring!!! They do light dinners only, with usually one "menu of the day" as well as some simple salads/charcuterie choices - we ate there once and it was fantastic. There is also a very sophisticated & excellent "fancy" restaurant, A Pasturella, in the local village (walking distance - ask for a map), which we also enjoyed. You do need a car, but Ile Rousse (resort/beach town) is just down the hill about 10 minutes, and the loop "around the valley" to these fascinating medieval hilltop villages (in varying states of commercialization/restoration) is a great way to spend a day (or easily 2), and there are hiking trails all around the region too (sadly we did not have time to try them but would like to come back and do so!). Calvi, St-Florent and Patrimonio (wine central) are all within easy day-trip distance, so one could easily be based here for a week and find plenty to do. It is a bit pricey but then so is Corsica in general, and we found this very much worthwhile. Oh, it is also family run and the proprietors are friendly and helpful, too - there is good English spoken, and a small library with guidebooks and books about local issues, daily newspapers and even a book showing the local plants. My only recommendation would be to add a guide to the birds of Corsica (we saw at least 8 species just from our balcony alone, without binoculars!) - maybe binoculars to use/borrow/rent? Otherwise it is already perfect. Oh, breakfast is not included and is expensive - it looks amazing - but they kindly provide a fridge, so if you are not one for a big morning buffet you can easily pick up a few things and do your own on the balcony. There is a coffee machine with (limited) free coffee refills. I actually prefer to have the choice rather than having to pay for a big fancy breakfast that you may not want/need every day.

Room Tip: I only saw ours but the view is so special, I would recommend paying extra for the view/balcony if y...

The hotel is in a beautiful spot and has been well designed to make the best of the surroundings. The room we stayed in was lovely with fantastic views. On the whole the service was excellent apart from one morning when it was breakfast was particularly slow. The breakfast was very tasty with lots of nice cakes, meats, juices etc. The evening meals in the restaurant are quite expensive even though they are freshly prepared with organic ingredients. 16 euros for pasta with no meat or fish seems overpriced.
The infinity pool and the surrounding sun terrace is lovely with fantastic views. The hot tub was nice but for this time of year probably not hot enough. The view from the gym also is wonderful.
Overall it was a fantastic stay in a beautiful hotel and would recommend it and would definitely return

Dear guests, thank you very much for your so nice comment. And thank you also to give us the opportunity to share on our" restaurant". You have pointed a real dilemma. It is a daily challenge for us of trying to reconcile few customers, quality of products and quality of service (3 dedicated employees for 10 people eating - average- everyday). We really do our best to allow this service to survive as we think it is important for the well being of our guests... without open it to outsiders to keep the atmosphere as it is (tranquility,exclusivity...). It is the reason why sometimes for some dishes can appear a little bit more expensive than in a big restaurant... but we have heard we remark and the "pasta evening" is about to evolve into a more sophisticated dish.
Once again thank for your constructive remark. Our clients are the best "quality consultants" ;-)
We look forward to welcoming again soon. Valérie

A lovely hidden gem in Monticello, easy distance to Bastia and Calvi. Great staff, great service. The bedrooms are good, pool view the best, breakfast of local and home-made products is excellent. Light dinners also very good although could perhaps benefit from more variety.

Dear Guests first of all, sorry for this late answer and thank you for your very positive comments. It is a real source of recognition and motivation for our team. Thank you also to give us the opportunity to once more explain what we try to do with our "restaurant". With only 10 people (average) eating everyday at the hotel, it is a real challenge for us to offer a wide variety of dishes. Our priority is to cook fresh products and to keep the exclusivity of the restaurant to our guests (we don't accept people from outside to maintain the quiet atmosphere). But you are right we must keep this objective in mind : being able to develop the variety... we work on it everyday :-) Hope to seeing you in a near future. Warmly, Valérie

Hard to add to all the superlatives that other reviewers gave but this is one beautiful spa hotel. We found through TA and it lived up to all the previous reviews and is well deserving of its high ranking. Everything is new and well kept, rooms are spotless and service is outstanding. Hotel has a heated pool, hot tub and workout room, each with spectacular views. We stayed 3 nights in April and had a great time. The owner told us about some hiking trails we could take right out of the hotel property with great views and fairly challenging terrain. The hotel is fairly remote, at the top of mountain looking over a beautiful valley with a lake. The drive up from the nearest town, l'ile Rousse, is 10-15 min up a very steep winding road. Not many places/restaurants to walk to from the hotel, but we had some great meals in local towns nearby. We didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the food. Very relaxing and great place to unwind, highly recommend this hotel if you want to get off the beaten path.

We stayed here for 3 nights during a 1 week trip to Corsica. Our room was stylish, a good size with wonderful views from the terrace over the valley and mountains. Friendly staff who were only too happy to help and answer questions. Restaurant did a simple evening menu. Breakfasts were great with a good choice and earl grey tea! Will definitely return.

We staid 3 nights and found the rooms and staff first class. The rooms re modern, roomy and all appear to have lovely views over what has to be one of the prettiest valleys on the island with five or six little villages visible from this wonderful location.
The staff were always friendly and attentive as only a quality boutique owner operated establishment like this can produce. An observation is that there is only just enough staff if everyone arrives at he same time but the quality of the team carries them through.
The dinner menu is very restricted so don't expect to eat here every night( although the food was lovely and fresh produce). The nearest restaurant recommended by the hotel A Pasturella which is about a 15 min walk is excellent (refer TA reviews) and we didn't try the other recommendation (15 min drive from the hotel) but apparently these are your only two quality options outside the hotel.
This is a highly recommended stay for anyone visiting Corsica and real value for the quality.

Room Tip: I doubt there is a bad one but the rooms on the top levels will offer the best views of the valley.

We spent 4 nights in a standard room at A Piattatella. The room was spacious and very comfortable with a super view across the valley. The breakfast was excellent and the quality of the food offered on the short lunch and dinner menus was very high. All staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful. The hotel is a good base from which to explore this region and its mountain villages and lovely sandy beaches, but a car is essential. If you're looking for exercise, the small gym is well equipped and positioned with a great view. Additionally, at 300 metres above sea level, it's a good base for cycling and the hotel recommended a good bike hire place in Ile Rousse. Overall, this was our favourite among 4 hotels visited in northern Corsica and it well deserves its top Trip Advisor ranking.
