Worst part - the road from the airport - not the best car passenger and we had two cloudy days - apart from that cannot fault it. Internet hit & miss but didn't really care too much on that. Lovely friendly staff, brilliant pools (2), peaceful, clean, can't fault it. Enjoyed the restaurants in the area - never had a bad meal in any of them & free dessert each time! We entered through the front and were took the very back of the complex (sort of backing onto the main road) though we did have a sea (distant) view - Room 508 studio apartment but felt bigger. Yes road was noisy when you sat out but by bedtime it was ok, never disturbed our sleep ever. Cleaning staff excellent, every day came in except Sunday. Come out of the front of the building, turn right and found a great little place for cocktails - ALexandros (about 20mins), turn left and head toward Rethymno (very long walk) we did the bus €1.20 single (every 1/2 hr), well worth the journey - brilliant place, great eating places esp Avli Raki Baraki best meal EVER all holiday! Couple of names of friendly eating/drinking places in Platanias - Steki Family Taverna, Vergina (one on the same side at the apartments), Axos bar, Kellari Taverna, and one with an excellent host & food - Yissina ??? he has orange cloths and green cloths on his tables & same side as Vergina etc!!!!

Room Tip: we had 508 in the back section, so very near the 'new road' but you get use to it during the day if sitting on the balcony.

We had a one bedroom unit. We found everyone so helpful and friendly. Unit was quite basic but exceptionally clean and tidy.
Beautiful pool and unusual smaller pool between the blocks of units. Only downside, there were no comfortable chairs inside the unit to use in the evenings, only the two sofa beds in the lounge area with cushions, which if you have back problems, were very uncomfortable. The beds in the units were renewed while we were there and were very comfortable.
Over all a very well run and friendly place.

Room Tip: There are no units with views, because of the position of the complex, but units where you can see the pool get the most sun.

Stayed here as family for week swap via RCI. The staff at this resort are really superb - polite, efficient and helpful. Site has 3 outdoor pools and a heated indoor pool, a spa and massage, and pools are well spaced out for the various apartment blocks. It is however only a couple of minutes to walk to a good, sandy beach. The restaurant is sufficient but there are many other options within close walk. Free wifi in reception and upper pool area but with a variable connection depending on the time of day and how many are using it. The site, once past reception, is however very tired - with loggias in need of repair, poor repairs to paintwork both inside and out and ridiculously out of date bathrooms. There is also very little privacy as the units are packed in meaning that you are both being overlooked and over looking others. This can make it noisy and there is also a major road at rear which gives a lot of road/ truck noise in the day and overnight if your unit is towards the back. The apartments are basically decorated with the minimum amount of furniture, and little in way of drawer storage. There is a small kitchen area with fridge, hobs and microwave. The beds are not great with very thin mattresses and therefore uncomfortable. Air-con is good and not too noisy. Interesting electricity saving measure is that it only works when you are in the room and have put the key in the slot, this means that you cannot for example run the air-conditioning when not in the room. Only the fridge remains on. Would we stay here again? Probably not as exhausted things to see and places to eat. Great place to take short sun soaker break or with younger kids.

Room Tip: Get one up high to avoid being overlooked unless you have problems with stairs as there no lifts.

We had a nice apartment overlooking the pool, Bedroom ad bathroom on upper floor Nothing brilliant but adequate, :Location is great and close to plenty of bars and restaurants.
The weather was very poor for the first week of October,

Unfortunately there is a private apartment block close to our block which had dogs that constantly barking day and night. This spoilt the stay for us. The road noise was negligible compared to this,

There was also major issue with our neighbour which was not he fault of the resort and they tried to assist but we left the resort.

This could be a great resort if thye can sort out the dogs,

Location good if you like to be near the beach. Plenty of eating places round about if you choose not to eat in the resort. Great location for sightseeing in western and Southern Crete. The 1 bedroom apartment we had overlooked the pool and was spacious, but the upstairs bedroom had very low ceiling beams near the door. Both my husband and I smashed our heads a couple of times on this. The bedroom and bathroom both had extremely poor lighting and tiny windows so very little daylight. I found that disappointing. The bed was large, comfortable and firm. The lounge had one easychair and a sofa bed which was like a single bed pushed against the wall and was not great for sitting on. The downstairs shower room was brighter but the shower door was hanging off. The kitchen was basically equipped. I objected being charged €15:50 to hire a tiny safe which was not big enough to store our documents and cameras! The apartment was regularly cleaned by very pleasant and cheerful staff, and had linen replaced once in the week. Towels were changed as needed but were very badly worn and need to be replaced. Pool towels could be borrowed for a deposit of €10 each. Our pool was in shade for most of the day unless you were fortunate enough to have a ground floor south facing apartment. Most of the apartments were not in this category. We didn't eat in the restaurant so cannot comment. The biggest issue I had with this resort was the total lack of information given to us at check in! We have been used to getting information about safes, pool towels, internet access, etc etc, but absolutely nothing was volunteered, so we assumed, wrongly, that there would be information in the apartment. It was already getting dark when we arrived and we were escorted to our apartment through unlit passageways and corridors, so as a result we had no idea where we were! A plan of the resort and some lights would have been handy in these circumstances. When we booked this RCI exchange we understood that the 2 Leoniki resorts were separate, and the RCI rep confirmed this to be true, but it's really one resort in practice with only one reception which is rather remote from Grand Leoniki. The instructions for finding the place both on RCI website and also the Grand Leoniki website are abysmal. Diamond Resorts really need to pull their socks up and sort out quite a few issues and this could be a very nice little resort. I won't be tempted to return though.
