We can learn a lot from the french - this is an important part of their history so its free - obviously looked after by the state and paid for by taxes. Everyone pays to ensure that this piece of history is preserved and accessible. Part of Hitler's "atlantic wall" - huge concrete bunkers with guns intact pointing towards the sea. We didn't have much time so just parked up and wandered around taking pictures - if we'd have taken the guided tour that would have only been 4 euros.

It is signposted from the main road in the village centre but it would be a fair walk, especially with a pushchair. It’s a very interesting site (free entry) & it’s definitely well worth doing the guided tour (€4 – €3 with Normandie Pass) which lasts about an hour. The guide gave just the right amount of information to make the tour interesting. She was very informative without bombarding you with too many facts. The guided tour is especially worth it as there are no information panels so you’d miss out on things if you didn’t do the tour. On the site, you can see 4 canons & an observation post. You also get good views of the coastline, too.

This was very interesting stop whilst seeing a number of the D Day sites. Each offers an additional perspective on the Battle of Normandy so its well worth including this as part of a range of stops.

This well maintained site provides a look back at history. Make sure to take the walking path down around to the lookout of the beach!
