Kyriad Prestige Joinville Le Pont
Reviewed 26 February 2013 via mobile

After reading other reviews my partner and I were wondering what we would be sleeping in at night. But I can safely say everything we both read was nothing near the truth.

The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from Joinville Le Pont RER A station, a straight no turning walk. Simple and easy. Lovely walk across a bridge also.
Okay so the area isn't the best but in all honesty, who goes to Paris and spends the entire time in the hotel. The 4 days we were in Paris we spent literally the 9 hours sleep in the hotel other than that we were in the main Paris vicinity.

The metro from the hotel to the Eiffel Tower and many other attractions is about 25/30 minutes. It did take an average of an hour to get to from CDG airport.

Inside the hotel the reception staff were all friendly and spoke very good English, the rooms were quiet, basic but actually better than say an English Premier Inn budget hotel. Maids came every day and changed the towels each day and brand new coffee and tea options upon return back to the hotel at night. The bed was comfortable and totally big enough for 2 people, the bath and shower were both amazing just have to be careful trying to find the right temperature. Hotel gives complementary shampoo and body wash.

We opened the window in the room and found that infact outside was noisy however with the window closed we never even knew so very nice peaceful quiet rooms.

Then only thing I found to be faulty was a part of the wall near the door had some dirt/mould but was high up.

We never used the restaurant area so can not comment on this however we were told breakfast would be €14 each, we preferred to just go straight into Paris and have a croissant on the go.

All in all, a very nice enjoyable stay at the Kyriad Prestige and would stay again.
Also, a McDonalds is literally just opposite the hotel, a bar next door and a sushi and Italian restaurant close by however again we never went to any of these we just noticed them nearby.

The first thing I noticed when I got to my room was the bad smell which I think was caused by the old furniture and shabby carpets. The room was in desperate need of refurbishment although on the upside at least the bathroom was clean with plenty of towels. There was no seal at the bottom of the shower screen so the floor was soaking wet after each use.

The staff ot the hotel were pleasant enough and were helpful in pre booking taxis for the morning if you need to be at a meeting on time. It's virtually impossible to flag an empty taxi down after 7.30am outside the hotel. The RER is about 8 minutes walk away and if you're visiting the centre of Paris the line goes stright into the centre in about 20 minutes.

I had one meal in the restaurant which was OK, nothing special but at least it didn't smell bad down there. The hotel is in a strange location on a busy road in the suburbs, there are some restaurants in the area but it's worth taking the train into the centre of Paris if you have the time.

The Hotel Kyriad is not an obvious choice for the tourist. It is in Joinville-le-Pont, a quiet suburb in the east of the city and around 10km from the centre. It is a €30 taxi ride from the city centre, 50 minutes in the rush hour, although you can take the suburban train to the Gare de Lyon is about a 20 minutes’ walk away. I only stayed at this hotel as all the others were full because of Fashion Week.
This is a reasonable mid-range hotel. The staff all speak English and some speak other languages. The staff are very helpful sand courteous. At €110 I could not really complain about the price, when compared with, say, London.
There are few restaurants in the vicinity but the hotel has a decent restaurant. There were three menus: €22 for a starter and dessert; €27 for a starter and hot buffet, and €30 for a three course meal. There was a large selection of starter dishes ranging from razor clams, grilled aubergine, Palma ham etc. If you feel so inclined you can pig out to your heart’s desire. The hot buffet comprised a gammon roast, a fish dish and Boeuf Bourguignon. There were haricot beans and green beans and risotto. At €13 for the cheapest half bottle I thought wine was pricey.
My bedroom was roomy, the bed and bedding were nothing to write home about but they were acceptable. There was all the usual paraphernalia of a mid-range hotel: a TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The room was nice a quiet. The bathroom was roomy and of a good standard. My only gripe was that the loo smelt like a gent’s toilet. I suspect that this was down to one bad cleaner rather than standard hotel practice.
To sum up this would not be an obvious choice for either the tourist or business traveller due to the distance from the city centre., but I could certainly recommend it if distance was not an issue.

We thought that this hotel was well worth the money. We arrived after midnight and there was an employee at the reception desk to let us in and check us in - they were very efficient. The hotel room itself was large, especially by Paris standards, and the air conditioning was a nice bonus since it was a little warm outside. The room and bathroom were clean, if a little dated, and we didn't hear any noise from other hotel guests during our three night stay. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from public transportation - we used the Joinville-le-Pont stop on the RER A line (red). It was about a 50 minute ride on the RER to Disneyland Paris, and a 25 minute ride into Paris. This didn't bother us since we just stayed in Disneyland/city center all day and had no need to go back to the hotel during the day. There was a McDonalds right across the street, and quite a few little shops in the neighborhood. I would recommend this hotel to the budget conscious, and those who plan on using it primarily for sleeping.

Room Tip: We had Room 423 which faced the street, but we didn't notice any street noise unless our window...

We arrived late at the hotel and reception was not manned. A quick push of the intercom and someone came and checked us in. When we got to the room it was dirty - lots of dirt on the carpets and a dirty towel in the bathroom. As it was late, we did not mention this until the morning. When we left for the day we complained at the desk assuming something would be done during the day. On return that evening, nothing had been done and although the beds had been made, the room was just as dirty. Service on the whole was pretty bad.

Location was good, but would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel has a great location right on the River Marne. The station is a good 10 minutes walk over the river with great views of the river and the rowing club. You can be in the centre of Pris in 15 minutes on the RER and the service is frequent. we purchased a book of 10 tickets whic you can use on the metro as well. The hotel room was OK but the bed gave us one of the worst nights sleep we can remember. This was made worse by the fact that when we asked for an extra pillow we were told that the hotel didn't have any spares! If you stay here take your own pillow! The restaurant wasn't open during our stay but we did eat in the pizzeria just outside the hotel but it isn't open on a Sunday. Unless you like sushi (which we don't) it is better to eat in the centre of Paris because there are no other decent restaurants anywhere near the hotel.
