As a seasoned traveler, I stay all over the world and I'm difficult please – It isn’t always the 5 star luxury that matters, but the friendly and welcoming attitude of the hosts combined with simplicity. “La sainte anne” in the medieval town of sigean will never disappoint you in this aspect!
Whilst a different experience, we were greatly impressed by the continuing theme of discreet, yet friendly service. This hotel exceeded our expectations because it was comfort in a most friendly and casual atmosphere
Its also the individual and special food at` Le sainte anne, that impressed us. The menu changes seasonally and it is delicious and of great value. And the staff are superb, always there when you need them but not in your face.
Peter, Zoe (The owners) and their staff are fantastic hosts with great knowledge in hospitality and paid attention to detail - I always felt like I was coming home.
Peter is also in total charge of the kitchen and he knows exactly what he's doing. The food he prepares is so tasty and intriguing (see attached pics).
The wifi inernet was free and I could keep in touch whenever I wanted but mostly I just sat around and relaxed and felt like part of the family. Our room was of medium size and beautifully simple in its decor. clean and was supplied with essentials such as soap, shampoo and fresh warm towels. Every room (as I understood) has got a television. It was really more like staying in someone's beautiful home than being in a hotel. We were upgraded to a larger room which consisted of a spacious Jacuzzi’ which was great.
A private library and seating area allowed us quiet time and chill out time whenever we needed.
The hotel also offers a laundry room with washing machine and a dryer facility in place for guests personal use, which I found was a nice touch.
They were also good about introducing their friends and other guests to us, so no one, from what we could see, felt lonely. It was a happy atmosphere whilst Zoe and peter gets involved in little conversations with guests at every opportunity. Evening drinks from the homely bar and dinners were something to look forward to, especially the mixed grill and mussels with French fries and beer-Yum!!
Overall, a memorable hotel, made more so by the efforts of the staff. Truly a home away from home. I would not hesitate to recommend.
