The house is beautiful and very well decorated. The host was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and very fresh with a variety of dishes. We stayed in the family room and had a very comfortable night's sleep. Located in a quiet street in the outskirts of Poperinge, very easy to get into Ypres.

From the moment we arrived in Poperinge, we were treated with kindness and hospitality. Our host, Ditmar, picked us up from the train station and pointed out key locations around town, i.e., where to rent bikes for our visit to the St. Sixtus Abbey. Our room was lovely and well-appointed with a tray of cookies and chocolates to greet us! The soaking tub was a real treat after long days of sight-seeing. They have a impressive collection of antiques which make the house very warm and inviting. Ditmar gave us maps of the area and made recommendations for places to eat. He even loaned me his cell phone charger as my adapter wasn't working.

The location is perfect--a short, six-minute walk to the main square and it was so quiet and peaceful.

Breakfasts were a feast for both the eyes and stomach! Each morning we were treated to an array of breads and pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt, orange juice, coffee and tea--additionally we had pancakes and Ditmar offered to make omelettes, but there was so much food already.

We had a wonderful time in Belgium and staying at the Galanthus in Poperinge was definitely a highlight!

The rooms are big enough and at first sight everything is clean but if you look a little bit better, the cleanliness could be better.
Breakfast is standard, nothing special, just basic. Positive is that you have frech orange juice and some fruit.
