stayed here for the 4th time early August, the hosts are both really friendly and welcoming with nothing being too much trouble Ask the question and they will give you the advice and answer you need Rooms are always clean and well made, the dining, bar and small snug room are all what you would want for an ideal country break and is perfectly situated in the centre of Malham for all walk starting points The breakfasts are always good with plenty of choice a special mention to the eggs benedict which would set anybody ready for a day on the Dales
will be returning again later this autumn when the comfy snug room really comes into its own with a glass of wine Only minor gripe the host is a fantastic cook but will only do the evening meal option for parties of 6 or more if you are going in a large party do not miss out and book it

Room Tip: only advice is try to go in a party of 6 people and ask for the evening meal option Alex is a exce...

I stayed here recently for a couple of nights.
the place was clean and comfortable. our room was ok quite small but that was fine for us with nice homemade flapjacks each day a nice touch. main issue was our room did not have a window which we could open so it was stuffy. I am aware it was a hot week end but having a window you can open in your bedroom I think should be essential.
good breakfast with home Produce really enjoyed.
This is a mix between a B&B and a hotel so not quite as friendly as you would get in a small B&B. it has nine rooms I think.
Quiet and ideal as a base for exploring the area.

Room Tip: Room nine had no window to open in the room.

River House is not a destination hotel in itself but if wanting a base for a day or two whilst exploring the local area then it is in a great location but it did feel a little like going back in time. The room we had was small - just enough space for a bed and dressing table. The bed was a standard 4'6" and comfortable but not outstanding. There was a very generous supply of tea bag, coffee etc and the room was spotlessly clean as was the shower room . This was functional rather than smart but the shower, although looking old, was exceptionaly eficient with plenty of hot water.
The breakfasts are good - variations on a 'full english' , eggs benedict , kippers or porridge and decent coffee. They are cooked to order and my husband was in praise of the quality of the fod. I would have liked a wider choice of fruit, and bread but appreciate the difficulties in catering for a relatively small number of people would not make this a viable option.
The River House benefits from havinga small bar/sitting area and is near to 2 decent pubs both of which have restaurants so there is no need to drive in search of dinner unless by choice.
Anne and Alex excellent hosts and I am happy to ecommend River House as abase for exploring Malham

Stayed 2nights here to walk the area and managed to get the last double room available. Great place and friendly couple running it. The room we had was at the back and quite small, but absolutely perfect for us. Clean and very quiet with everything that we needed. Breakfasts were enough to keep you going all day. They did a packed lunch for a fiver which we opted to miss out on thinking hat we could just grab a sandwich somewhere cheaper. As it happened it would have been more economical to take the packed lunch.
Wifi signal was weak at the back of the hotel but fine for emails and checking the weather which was all we needed.
Reserved parking out the front for a couple of cars which we were fortunate enough to use. I can imagine that parking in the height of summer could be an issue as there seemed to be loads of cars along the road when we were there just before the schools broke up.
Two great pubs in the village for beer and food and fantastic walking.

We stayed here weekend of Tour de France. Hosts were extremely hospitable, breakfasts were great, rooms very clean, and home baked flapjacks n biscuits went down a treat. The b&b is in a stunning dales village with two lovely pubs. Great walking in the area and still close to skipton if you in need of a bigger town. Hosts were extremely accomodating and did us a Huge favour (they know what it was!!). Thank you!!

We were accommodated at very short notice for a six night stay on the recommendation of the Tourist Information Office at Grassington. We could not have chosen anywhere better, Hosts (Ann & Alex) went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfasts were scrumptious and the sandwiches made for our lunches were a delight. A fantastic stay in wonderful countryside.

We stayed 5 nights at River House with wonderful hosts Ann and Alex. Our room was lovely, very clean and always warm in cold evenings when we had been out. There were always home made biscuits or cakes in our room to have with a cuppa - freshly made that day! The breakfasts were delicious with a good variety. Ann was very helpful with maps and information. The area is so beautiful - right in the dales and very peaceful. There are two pubs in the village for evening meals. Very relaxing and a great end to our 9 week holiday in the UK!
