“Good Value”

We ate in this pub on two consecutive nights whilst camping in Malham. It was pretty busy on both nights due to the world cup football matches. The staff were nonetheless very friendly and the service was fast. We had the roast of the day and a game pie on the first night both of which were superb. Having given my friend an already large plate of roast dinner they came back with another plate containing even more food, stating that they had run out of large plates. Wow! On the second night we both had lamb burgers, which were served with large onion rings, chips and salad. Similarly good and no complaints about the price. The beer worked out at £7.20 for two pints, which seemed to be pretty reasonable.

We booked a twin for one night only as we were walking Week 1 of the Pennine Way and were treated to a large suite with one huge, comfy double in the main room and another in a private space behind a curtain with its own facilities. The bathroom was luxurious, right down to the standard of the toiletries, and everything was clean and tasteful.
We had a lovely supper and agree 100% with the chip enthusiast.
Saving the best news for last, the Buck Inn serves up a stunning breakfast; the hosts were kind enough to bring breakfast forward for us and still offer the full menu - yoghurt and compote of the day, eggs benedict, smoked haddock and poached eggs, smoked salmon - it was all there for us if we wanted it and the coffee was fantastic.
Every staff member we came across was friendly and helpful. And the harmonium works too.

Room Tip: Ask for Room 11! Rooms overlooking the road are troubled a bit by people at the tables outside and s...

Booked a double room in Jan. 2012 for a stay during the Tour de France in July 2014. Very disappointed when we were shown to our room, which was the smallest in the whole hotel and pretty dismal. Surrounded by all this natural beauty and we were looking out over the roofs of the kitchen and a blank wall. Loo overflow ran all night on the first night - not conducive to a goodnights sleep. Although reported it was not fixed during our stay. On the plus side breakfast was excellent. Had dinner on one night which was ok but expensive for what it was.

Two pints of ale (nothing particularly special) for £8.10....more expensive than London where we were visiting from. Surely the locals do not put up with this...unless they get a discount?. Was going to eat but didn't bother after rip-off beers.

Everyone is better off heading to the lister arms up the road.

Staying in local accommodation so called in for a drink and to check the menu. We sat at the bar and reviewed the menu and we were very keen to visit during the week for a meal. However the promise soon went when we quite clearly observed staff telling each other who was a local and who was a visitor. The locals were getting charged 25% less for food and drink. Regardless of the motives you do not do this in front of customers. We finished our drinks and left immediately with a feeling I had been fleeced. Not a good experience and never went back again.

Stopped in for a late lunch after a visit to Malham Cove. Has the bar or dining room, both are quite roomy. Had a lovely lunch and few refreshing pints. Great little pub with good service. Recommend if you're looking for something that is tasty and is of good value!

i usually go for fish and chips and a pint of old peculiar in a stellar pub such as this. however, i fancied something a little different and the only negative i have is that i was totally stuffed. a little pricy compared to other pubs of this ilk, however, there was oceans of top quality and exceptionally presented food.
The trio of burger platter comes with a lamb, beef and game burger, chips, salad and 3 sauces. awesome.
the local ale is worth avoiding because if your an ale drinker like me you will appreciate a fine ale and the local one isn't a good one, however, old peculiar was on tap and that is always a winner.
the beer garden round the back was a nice haven on a warm afternoon like we had and the decor and atmosphere is great. walkers (and cyclists it would seem) are all welcome.

enjoy.
