I booked 3 nights in Beck Hall in February, 7 months ago and was kept well informed of my reservation by Alice. Our room was small but very comfortable and warm. We took our dog and was mortified that she had jumped on the bed with muddy paws. Although this is specified in the welcome book that this is not allowed, I was offered a change of bedding (which we declined) and assured that this was not a problem. Breakfasts were freshly cooked and nothing was too much bother. The guest house is pleasantly situated in the delightful village of Malham, right on the main walk up to Malham Cove and by a fast running beck. We even saw an Otter! Honesty bar was a nice touch and a comfy chairs in the lounge for sitting in front of the fire. I liked the fact that we could bring our dog to breakfast although we were in the lounge and not in the main breakfast room, which was fine for us.

Room Tip: Some rooms are outside in an old annexe. Some are in the main house. Ground floor rooms are mainly f...

Our stay at Beck Hall was one of the Groupon deals for a 2 ngt stay, and having been on a few of these deals we have to say for us this was one of our favourites so far.
On our arrival we parked up in the allocated parking area of the main road then walked over the stream using the quaint stone bridge to Beck Hall where we were attended to very warmly and efficiently and within 10 mins shown to our room.
This was the lovely, cosy Green Room with its four poster bed, which i will be honest was one of the most comfortable beds i have slept on anywhere, we also had the added benefit of extra warmth coming through the chimney breast from the roaring fire down below in the lounge.
The Green Room in Beck Hall Hotel is in the original building dating from 1710 and for us was a perfect weekend retreat, having been out walking all day to Malhams Cove and Janet`s Foss, getting back late afternoon to a great hot shower and a relaxing night in.
We could`nt fault the breakfast either, very good choice and if opting for the full English not overfaced, and cooked just right, efficiently and pleasantly bought to you by friendly staff.
Although we did`nt use the honesty bar in the lounge we thought this was a great little feature to the establishment,as was the free wi-fi, so all in all a great place to stay and we look forward to returning to Beck Hall sometime in the near future.

Beck Hall is an interesting place to stay - open fire, lounge, honesty bar, and grandfathers clocks, very old furniture, comfortable chairs, and some (African?) artifacts on the walls leading up to the bedrooms. The downstairs rooms are very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious.
The bedroom furniture was of more modern design, but ok - the location of our bedroom was superb, right next to the Beck.
We will definitely return.
Superb location for a winter weekend retreat, and lots of fine local walks.

Thank you for your review. When we purchased Beck Hall we inherited all the artifacts with it. And you are correct many of them are African in origin. We felt it was the previous owners' stamp but also felt it set Beck Hall apart from the everyday. A couple of years ago we made a move to de-clutter the lounge and display some of the more interesting pieces we had around the building. We find the mix that we have of old and new caters to the wide variety of guests who visit us. I would like to think there is always something displayed which will intrigue someone. I am glad you found our lounge and rooms comfortable.
Thank you again for reviewing.

Thank you for your review. It is lovely that you enjoyed your stay and we were able to provide a comfortable nights sleep with our mattresses. A good nights sleep is the basis of an enjoyable stay. The breakfast is of course the next step and if possible we will always try to accommodate our guests' wishes so if you don't see what you ask the waitress and if it is possible then we will endeavour to get it for you. We do have beans on hand so next time you visit let us know. Obviously there may be times when it might not be possible to attend to all special requests but we will always do our best. Thank you again for reviewing and glad you enjoyed your stay.

Really enjoyed my stay at Alice's B&B - second time staying there and both times in the dead of winter so I absolutely loved the fireplace and spent a few hours in a comfy sofa reading by the fire. Alice saw how much I was enjoying it and topped up the coal to keep it going. Rooms are comfy and breakfast was great. No hesitation to recommend it!

Dear Ally,

In spite of the time that passed since your stay I instantly remembered who you were. I am so glad you enjoyed the time you spent with us and was thrilled to know your partner made it through his Pennine way challenge. I am equally glad you were able to take comfort in our lounge whilst you followed his travels through up to Horton and then Hawes. Being on the Pennine way route allows us the pleasure of helping so many travellers rest and relax before embarking on the next step of their arduous journey up to Horton.

Thank you so much for posting a review of your stay.

Stayed at Beck Hall in November with a group of friends. The hotel was great, close to the local pubs/restaurants, staff were very friendly with an honesty bar in the living room. Breakfasts were plentyfull and nothing was too much trouble, just what was needed before a days' walking. the rooms were comfortable and spacious, perfect for our requirements. the village of Malham is lovely and will definitely be returning.
