“Lovely peaceful location”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

Lovely short break on our Y3P walking challenge last weekend. Its a lovely peaceful location with a good list of options for the morning breakfast. The packed lunches (at a reasonable price) were also welcome as there are not many nearby stores to purchase sandwiches to take away.

Room Tip: The ground floor room 7 has a lovely view of the Beck in the newer annexe and we were not kept awake...

We enjoyed our stay from the moment we arrived with the warm and friendly welcome. Our room was made available early for us and had a lovely view straight onto the stream. Tables are provided where we had our picnic lunch as well as tea and afternoon reading. Beck Hall is ideally suited for all the beautiful walks in the Malham area. Our dog enjoyed her stay too, it was very useful to be able to get in and out of our room without having to go through any other parts of the building and water was thoughtfully provided for dogs in several outside locations. Breakfast was good too and it is easy to find meals just down the road in Malham village. We would definitely go back, thanks for a great weekend break.

We stayed here after doing the first leg of the coast to coast bike ride. It was a wet day and after completing the hill from Settle to Airton we were really glad of a a warm welcome, open fire and a comfy bed.

Location is brilliant in the centre of Malham to explore this beautiful part of the country.

Beck Hall is old and creaky, but full of charm. We had a comfortable, clean stay with a delicious breakfast. We enjoyed chatting by the fire with another couple in the evening. The honesty bar was a nice touch.
If you want fancy, this is not your place or even your town. If you want beautiful countryside off the beaten track, then this fits the bill perfectly. Just getting to Malham is an adventure, winding down the narrow roads. We loved the beauty and authenticity of the area! It is the perfect location for hiking to the cove and Gordale Scar.

Thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed your stay with us and your visit to Malham – the Yorkshire hills and dry-stone walls are a landscape all their own.

We stayed at Beck HAll on 10th August for 2 nights. We were in the older part of the hall in 'blue room'. If you like rustic and period furniture then this place is for you. Stone steps worn away show the true age of the building.
A nice modern aspect was free wi-fi
The breakfast was very good and the time was between 8 - 10 so plenty of scope to plan activities around your choice of time.
There are 2 good pubs a few minutes walk down a lane, both serve meals. Whilst we prefered the Listers Arms, the Buck was also popular.
We will return to Mallam, but make a point of booking at the Beck Hall

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your recent stay and we're so happy to hear you enjoyed it. The main part of Beck Hall is believed to date back to 1705 when it was built as a yeoman's cottage so that stone step has certainly had a fair bit of use over the years! Thanks again and we look forward to welcoming you back when you're next visiting Malham.

I visited this establishment when walking the Pennine Way. It is an interesting building in a beautiful setting. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room very comfortable and clean and breakfast of good quality and more than I could do justice to. Subsequently, I met three other people during my trip (all totally unconnected) who all spoke highly of the Beck Hall and all described it as more like an hotel than a guest house. The honesty bar is a nice touch though we went to the Lister Arms for excellent, well-earned beer and delicious bar food. One of the top stays in my lengthy trip.

Thank you for your generous review. It's lovely to know that you and others spoke so highly of Beck Hall and we're happy we could please. Like you, many of our guests stay whilst walking the Pennine Way or after tackling the Three Peaks so we do our best to offer the most comfortable, relaxing stay and a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day! Thanks again.
