“Well worth it”

Stayed here in 2 rooms with my family (5 in total). A very unique place and we really enjoyed it. Staff were very helpful in getting bags to the room and we ate in the restaurant on the night we stayed. The meal was the best we had on our 7 week holiday through Europe. Would thoroughly recommend it ...

The hotel is kind of cool but its very popular as it is next to the highway and most of the castle cannot be visited as it is private. If you re looking for a quiet castle experience somewhere in the countryside, don't go there but if you re just passing by anyway its a nice place to stop. The restaurant was good and the service in the restaurant was perfect.

This is an old castle that was converted into a hotel. I attended a wedding in this place and slept in one of the room - nicely decorated, though my room was quite small. The price was ok, the hotel doesn't have much to offer in terms of attractions, but just the felling of sleeping in an ancient hotel was already amazing.

I recommend this place to friends.

If you like medieval ambience a place like Castello di Pavone would certainly be a good place to visit. However, our recent trip to this hotel was not what we expected and was rather disappointing. We certainly did see the castle; from the outside, but not really the inside of it... When I booked my weekend I was thrilled at the prospect of sleeping, eating, living in a castle; thinking what an adventure this would be and being able to see this marvelous looking rather imposing castle. Unfortunately, other than the reception area, the dining/breakfast rooms and your own room you don’t have access to the rest of the castle. The hotel did provide us with a very quick tour of the castle with about 15-20 hotel clients trooping in like sheep; no translation was provided only in Italian and that’s the only way you get to actually see the rest of this big and marvelous looking castle you pay for your stay! The tour lasts 20-30 minutes tops. What an outrage that you would be spending a full weekend and not be able to leisurely enjoy the feel of this marvelous place at your own pace!

Other unforgettable details to be noted:
They have very nice open space and garden, but they couldn’t provide us a place to have a drink outside – no terrace, when there was space to have a couple of tables and chairs and the weather was beautiful and sunny that weekend.

After the long drive to get to the castle, we wanted to sit and relax reading the newspaper and requested to see the lounge or if you want a library sort of place that you would imagine would be available in this huge castle. Well no. There is no such place… They looked at us in amazement – probably thinking, who are these people asking these weird questions!

We did voice our concerns to the hotel management, but they don’t seem to be very bothered by customers such as us as their business seem to be oriented towards the cliental that come for weddings and conferences. There were 3 weddings during the weekend we were there!

To end this review: if you wish to see a beautiful castle from the outside, by all means go to Castello di Pavone, but stay the night at a nearby hotel which will be much cheaper and you won’t be disappointed!

Room Tip: Standard rooms are located outside of the castle as an annex. You may have a better chance of seeing...

If you like medieval ambience try out Castello di Pavone. It is an amazingly beautiful place with great rooms and the view on Alps. Clean rooms and modern bathrooms. Great staff that does not always speak good English. We also tried out their restaurant. Highly recommended.

Ideal restful, stopover on way to Italy and back to France. Magical castle, fabulous rooms with old masters on wall - mine also had the mona lisa! Painted ceilings, tranquil courtyard, fabulously friendly staff and a destination restaurant. So good returned to it on way home!

Perhaps I had high expectations since I had previously stayed in an old Monastery in Orvieto with great service. Perhaps it was the hype leading up to the stay. But I found this "castle" just okay. We arrived and no one was there to take our bags - several flights of stairs and no good walkway. Oddly there was parking at reception but we were not allowed to drive there to at least save some energy for carrying 2 heavy suitcases and 3 bags. The room was also hot - I dared not open the little port window (don't stay in the tower). But while in the room if I wanted airflow I had to leave our door open. The best part about the hotel was dinner. This was my worst night sleep in Europe. The room was just too warm.
