Description: The Black Horse is a family owned Inn with character and style set in a small hamlet in Bedfordshire. The Black Horse was built in the 17th Century, and although it has been updated and given a contempory style, it still holds its charm and character. With it's exposed original beams, inglenook fireplace and low ceilings, the bar is warm and welcoming - perfect for relaxing with a drink or a glass of wine. The restaurant consists of two distinct dining areas each offering their own unique style and atmosphere with either garden or courtyard outlooks. Our seasonally changed menu's use only the freshest ingredients sourced locally (where possible). The dishes are expertly prepared and presented by a team of highly qualified chef's.

Went here on Saturday for lunch with husband, son, and sister in law and her husband to celebrate my sister in law birthday. It's those extra little touches they do to make you feel so welcome that makes me enjoy it so much. They had a birthday card ready in the table and provided my 1 year old son toys to play with to keep him occupied. The food as always was delicious and even treated ourselves to a dessert. Would definitely recommend.

Visited the restaurant last night (7th July 2014) with my family. We arrived at about ten past nine - officially too late to order - but were politely told we could order anyway as long as we were reasonably quick. The chap that served us was really friendly and couldn't have been more helpful - especially with the menu as we were mostly a party of vegetarians. The food came quickly and was delicious and the desserts were genuinely fantastic. Can't actually find anything negative to say at all. Will definitely be returning!

Hello Julia B

So glad you had a lovely dining experience with us.

It’s really good to hear a review from a vegetarian perspective and I am pleased to hear that our menu catered for your needs. Our chefs have tried to compile menus to suit all tastes and though we don’t have a huge range of vegetarian dishes we are happy to tailor a dish to suit customer requests.

Delighted to read that you will be returning to The Black Horse.

Hello johntheprint

I am so glad to hear you and your family enjoyed your recent visit to us.

We have just launched our new extensive wine list and I’m extremely pleased it’s been well received. We do strive to give our customers excellent choice and quality in both the food we serve as well as the drinks we offer.

The staff look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future.

Having dined at the Blackhorse several times and always having had great service and food, we decided to return for a family dinner with our sons.

The service and overall restaurant are still very good. However being very critical I was not overly impressed with the food. I had a steak, that was in my opinion expensive for what you got and the quality was poor, very tough. My wife selected the venison that was not cooked to her initial request and again was tough.

As I said the service was still excellent and gave some nice touches like a card on our table to recognise our wedding anniversary.

As always a fantastic meal very well presented.
The staff were excellent. We were not rushed and they remembered names which made it a personal service.
