Description: Clean, warm, cosy, friendly, relaxing , set in the beautiful old village of Hurley. The village dates back to 700 ad and is recorded in the Domesday, the old church is still standing which was once the nave to the old Priory until 1536 when Henry Vlll dissolved the Monasteries. The River Thames is just 4 min walk from the Rising Sun. Built around 1830 the pub is a big favorite with walkers, ramblers, boating people alike. There is a fantastic caravan and camping site just down the road, which is among the top 5 sites in the UK for static, mobile and camping. We have a village shop, a church and a small B&B. The village is heaving in the summer months with tourists enjoying the camping and picnic areas right on the River Thames.Soft comfortable chairs and settees, log fire for the cold winter months. Home cooked and prepared traditional pub food plus specials, 4 ever changing real ales from local brewer's and a selection of lagers.

Stopped here while walking along the Thames Path and very glad we did. After eating my wife said "that was the best pub lunch I've had in a long time" - she had the homemade Guiness cottage pie, I had a sizzling steak - very good, cooked as ordered and the chips were excellent. Our friends both had the Cajun chicken quesadilla and said it was lovely. Beer is Rebellion which is up the road in Marlow and tasted as good as that from the brewery shop. All in all highly recommended.

We had lunch at the rising sun when staying at the hotel next door. It was very nice pub food and the staff were very friendly.

tried this place for lunch following walk with long standing friends. Easy to book table, friendly staff. Food was very good and not over priced. Was driving so unable to comment on beer, others were more lucky and all seemed to enjoy it!
Would definitely come back again

lovely country pub. We did not eat here but looked O.K. Prices seemed average for a pub. Very friendly locals. 1980's music had me singing into my pint all nigh long.

We booked in for four people this evening and we're very disappointed . The menus is nothing like the websites menus , the staff were verging on being rude and not wanting to be there and the customer being an inconvenience . Very very disappointing an we won't be back for sure. Oh and we were told if we wanted to order we need to hurry up as the kitchen closes in 5 minutes. What a joke.
