I might have been put off by previous reviews of the Three Horseshoes but I've learned to read between the lines. People's expectations have risen but don't forget that it's a pub B&B, not a hotel. We arrived to maybe not the warmest welcome we've ever had but it was adequate and we were clearly told that the building is being refurbished.
Our room (Suffolk Punch, no. 9) is at the end of the building and suffered no noise worse than the hooves of horses being ridden by. It was simply furnished, clean and recently fitted out. The twin beds were comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The hot drinks tray was fine and the small flat-screen TV big enough for the size of the room. The en-suite shower/WC was quirky (due to the shape of the available space) but adequate. The strip-light over the sink needed a new bulb and I forgot to mention that upon checking out.
We ate dinner there; a sirloin steak and a chicken and leek pie, both with plenty of vegetables. There were three real ales on handpump and the one we sampled was well-kept. The cooked breakfast was hot and plentiful and there were help-yourself cereals, again what We would expect from an establishment of its level.
Other than that, Drayton Parslow is a pleasant enough village, well-placed for many attractions or country walks. We'd go there again - it does what it says on the tin.
