We booked in here as it was close to the Duxford Air Museum, which we visited early the next day. After being shown our room we went straight into the restaurant for our evening meal. The food was excellent, or steaks were cooked just to our liking. The rest of our main meal and dessert, were great too. The attentive staff/management were excellent. This mornings breakfast was very good, all tastes catered for. They promote local food suppliers, if not local they list where their meats/game/fish are acquired from. The real ale (Abbot), was like drinking nectar! The bedroom, whilst comfortable and all requirements provided, it was a little tired and needed more attention to detail. The tour rooms we saw were motel type, just outside the main building. All in all, we would return, if only for the food!

The John Barleycorn, a picturesque thatched pub in the middle of Duxford Village. Lovely room, friendly welcome, well cooked, good value food. An ideal place to stay for visiting my son in Cambridge. Our third stay which certainly won't be our last.

In late May, my husband and I, along with other family members, stayed at this old hostelry in a lovely Cambridgeshire village while visiting the Imperial War Museum and Cambridge. It was situated very well for all of us, a mile away from the Museum, and a short drive into Cambridge to the Trumpington Park & Ride, to take a bus directly into Cambridge. There are four small, quiet, basic but clean rooms in the back of the pub, adjacent to a drinking area and the parking lot, nicely landscaped. We were there mid-week and it was rainy, so there was no outside drinking going on, although I suspect noise isn't a problem here. The pub has good food for dinner, and a full, hearty breakfast is included in the room rate. The service is very pleasant and extremely welcoming and friendly. From our bartender we had chance to learn about the British, Polish and American fliers who used the pub during the dreadful days of WWII. We were very pleased with our stay, found it to be good value for the price.

Room Tip: Room four was the most basic; of the two others my family occupied, we had no problems or issues.

A beautiful thatched hostelry in the quiet village of Duxford - a perfect stay for our weekend break in Cambridge. We were delighted with everything and couldn't find fault (not that we're the miserable types who try). Excellent and reasonably priced food, friendly staff and a welcoming pub atmosphere, decent ales and the best breakfast I've had in many moons - which comes gratis with the room by the way. Literally the only fault I could find was that the TV was too far away from the bed to watch a subtitled film (opted for Predator instead). We'll definitely be back when we're in this neck of the woods.

This is one of the best places we have stayed in. We had a lovely quiet room and the breakfast was so nice that we had our tea there that evening and it even surpassed the breakfast (hard to do I know lol). The landlord Dennis is a lovely guy and so helpful. And has really nice staff including a lovely lady called Sandra. This place is spot on. Make it your mission to stop there when you are down that way you won't regret it. Can't wait until our next visit. Thanks a lot
